Downloading DP7 by itself, it seems large enough to be able to self install so I don't have to start with previous builds.

I'm anxious to just try fresh installing to see if any issues I have come across are new or just leftovers from previous builds.
This is the 1st OS X version I have not performed a fresh install of when beta testing and when I started I went from 10.9.4 beta -> upgrade -> to 10.10 DP1.

Is everyone having the same issue, since the DP8 release?

My MP is having fits again...
No problem yet. I did have the problem with DP 7 previously on a 30 GB partition set up for Yosemite. And even though I hardly had anything on there but the OS, the system slowly took away space. I deleted the partition and installed Yosemite on my main drive. I have everything backed up if something were to happen. At least this way, I don't have to worry about running out of space on a small partition.

The completely messed up storage is fixed here (PB3), but now I have 13GB of other on a semi-clean partition. So basically half-fixed...

That actually sounds about right for a clean install. Other includes the OS and everything that does not fall into one of those other categories.

Hm... Okay that's something. I know what it is :) Storage went nuts on Mavericks, so much that I had to do a clean install to fix it. And it happend again on my Yosemite partition, then there was the storage bug and now it's back again. The 'Other' is now 53 GB on my Mavericks partition. (The screenshot is from within Yosemite, I haven't been on the Mavericks partition.) And no app reconigzes where the storage is coming from. Time Machine also didn't pick up on it. (That's how I fixed it with the clean install. Time Machine ignored the 'fake' data)

But this just doesn't look healthy to me :p

You can usually fix that storage graphic being off by reindexing Spotlight with this command in Terminal. But I see a lot of reports of it getting whacky again in Yosemite, so I would not worry too much about it while still in beta. Looks like a common issue.

Code:
sudo du -d 1 -x -c -g /

It's been happening since Mavericks. Unfortunately tried everything possible, I re-indexed a couple of times. And when I updated to PB3 again. :) But they might fix this with the public release, even though it's an ongoing issue...

Right now it's okay, I've got a couple of GB free on my Yosemite partition and that's enough since a lot of files just 'pass trough'. I delete everything once I've used it, and more important files are all pages and just a couple of KB or MB so they barely take up any space.

It's more that it was so horrible when my macbook basically became unusable in Mavericks, nothing worked. The other storage just didn't exist and it ate up all my space. (Or well at least there's no way a regular user could find out, someone with a lot of knowledge of mac's could probably dig for it.)

You know what, I'm gonna find all the storage screenshots I still have. Maybe you see something in it :) Thank you for trying ;)

Okay here they come!

Storage info, so much fun

I have had the same problem. 2.57 TB of Movies, ~500GB Music, etc

I went to take a screenshot for this thread but I found it it is back to normal!
Must've been that beta 3 update...
