Hi all, does it bother you that the only available storage options are 64gb and 256gb? Been an apple user since the 4. I feel forced to get the 256 simply cause my iphone now has 128gb of storage(perfect for me) and used 63gb. I mean i understand they want their customers to buy the more expensive/more storage option but to do us like this? Honestly feel like i'm sticking with my iphone 7+ until they bring back the 128gb or wait until next year to see if they bring it back.

Well, on the bright side, if you're using 4k video recording, it will benefit you. I can see 128gb has better value for some people though.

everyone is different but ideally i think it should have been 64GB, 128GB & 256GB. though obviously pricing would affect some when purchasing their storage option. it's a big gap from 64 to 256. i have about 15GB left from my 64GB iPhone since though i've had it since launch day. i'm not sure how everyone feels about external storage but would be nice to have. i don't know their method to the madness on the storage options they chose from.

I'm in agreement that I also do not understand the storage gap a]Apple put into the phones. 64 gb is almost laughable on todays phones with all the various apps / photos / what not people are storing. IOS is even getting bigger with every release. IOS 11 took 2 gb to download. I'd be real curious as to what the actual available amount of space is really there on a 64 GB 8 / X out of the box. It would have made much more sense to have the 64 / 128 / 256 options there for purchase. Me - I'd go the 128 route.

Exactly what I’ll do.

64gb for light users and 256gb for heavy users. Plus its fewer variations of the same iPhone Apple has to make.

So yes, it does make sense and a great idea.

I think they are thinking that there's' 2 types of people, those who need minimum and those who want a ton. They figure 64gb is enough for most people and those who need more than that most likely need / want a lot more than that.

I don’t think that’s the case, they think that someone who wants a high end iPhone, doesn’t want the lowest storage version. Now the only option is to get the largest version. Basic psychology.

I’m willing to bet that historically, the middle tier storage devices were the best selling.

Inventory and logistics. Fewer models are easier to produce, and you have less of the "undesirable" configurations just sitting around. I suspect that's why we only have two colors of the X, and two storage capacities for both phones.

64GB seems light but the 256GB is a big jump for less money really, your going from 64GB to 256GB for £150 more.

To take away the middle tier was a disservice on Apple's part.

I'm not sure what you can do to protest this, etc. It's the new reality.

It doesn’t bother me as much on the 8/8+ as it does on the X. I think the X is being positioned as a flagship device and should start at 128GB and then be offered with 256GB at the top end. To start the X at 64GB is ridiculous IMO. BTW...I have a 7 now and, like you, find 128GB to be the perfect size.

The X should 100% be a 128GB base model.

Well I never go above 64 gb storage. Even on my iPad Pro. I have the 64gb. I sd cards to store more stuff on if I need it. But I have never had to touch it yet.

So I guess I am not the person to go by.
