No case redesign, but if you look inside there are 12 iPads taped together.

If this follows similar timing from the last Mac Mini update, the store should open back up around 4-4:30am.

For a major update - defined as 3 or more refreshes and/or new product introductions - the store can remain down for 2 to 3 hours. For a single product line refresh, it takes only 30 minutes to an hour... 30 minutes have already elapsed since the store went down, so this is no small matter ;)

Thanks for the info :)

Nope. The apple store is one of my top sites, so I see it every morning when I fire up Safari. This is the first time in a few months that it's been down. There's nothing regular about Apple's maintenance.

Instead of crapping on someone else's enjoyment, just don't say anything at all. In fact, by commenting on this thread, you bumped it to the top, and now I'm commenting on it which will keep it at the top. If you really want a thread to die because you think it's useless, just keep your mouth shut and move along.

There have been 96 threads in the past year with thread titles relating to "Store Down". Of those, 29 threads were closed and 19 were sent to Wasteland.

Play nice girls

If history serves us....the store will come back up between 8:30 and 9am eastern time (EDT).GL

That's a looooong time then.

Finally. I can end my 20-times-a-day logon-to-macrumors.com-forums-to-see-if-there-is-any-chance-the-new-mac-pros-are-coming-out-soon habit that has been raging for 6 months. Thank heavens.

I'm happy and sad at the same time. If there is new mac pros and monitors I will be so happy, but sad because I will be parting with a lot of cash...

Here's to hoping for a MP redesign, I have my "It's... ...Beautiful" cat cued up.

LOL I know exactly which cat your talking about! :D

The Apple Store regularly is down at night for routine maintenance. It doesn't mean anything. There are dozens, if not hundreds of useless threads like this.

Your not very funny, you seem to have forgotten that it's down WORLDWIDE and it's actually 11.53AM here in the UK. Yeah Apple regularly closes it's store during business hours??

And from my other post:

Quick predictions:

New mac Pro, I don't think it'll have a new case But I hope it does, new GPU's, CPU's, USB3, SSD?
Imacs with speed bump, maybe use the latest core i class (hasn't Intel got some new models out?), I think we'll get a low end core i5 in the base model instead of i3, USB3, new graphics options. SSD?
New 27" monitor.

Why am I so excited when I don't expect to be buying a new mac until next year. However a second generation i7 iMac would be lovely.

IMacs getting an update?!?

IMac "Buy Now" link led to this screen a few minutes ago. Update????

EDIT: This got moved from another thread...ignore it.

Why does the store go down? It doesn't need to, surely?

Amazon doesn't go down when they introduce new products. eBay doesn't go down everytime a new auction begins.

It's just marketing...tries to build excitement...

Ofcourse it needs to, it's a big update to several products/pages...and don't call me Shirley.

It's Apple's service to all us loyal customers, so that we can have our three ours of suspense while we dream of new awesome Apple products ;)
