wow, is the 30-60 min thing true?Yes. Maybe not the exact specs that you want but the Apple stores will have limited stock for same day pick up the 26th. You can usually order them on the online Apple Store 30 to 60 min before the opening of your local Apple Store.
I’m talking more specifically for launch day, so Friday the 26th. At least in Canada, if you refresh the online Apple Store on launch day, you often have choice for same day pick up. But stock are limited and the store may not have the configuration that you want, so you have to be fastwow, is the 30-60 min thing true?
So i can grab that Base model M1 max 16 in on tuesday in store by following the 30-60 min rule?

Yes Tuesday I’m sorryYou mean Tuesday?
Also, timing wise has it usually been 30-60 min before store opening or could it be earlier?

I’ve seen inventory become available in the Apple Store app between 6-8am local time on new product release day.Spoke to apple rep, was told to keep checking for instore pickup option. once you do that, you can skip ahead of those waiting in line that have NOT placed online order for pickup.
the mystery here is.. what time will these in store pickup orders be available on apple.com?
I think because of COVID-19 they are going to push for online reservationsSo my question would be, does it make any sense to just show up to the local apple store early without having placed an online order or is there inventory for in store pickup accurate enough that I’d be better off ordering online first for pickup?
I ask because I know in the way past that there were times where an item (like original AirPods) wouldn’t show as available for pickup online, but if you actually showed up early they may have some for sale still.

Awesome. Thanks for the tips. This is kinda my plan too. I had a base 14 for launch day, but cancelled and am springing for the max. I don’t even know they will stock the 14 inch max since it’s technically a configuration. I might have to just get the 16 especially with this whole “high power mode” malarkey. Now, if you are looking for something, check early in the morning. Choose what you want, and if it's not available at the local store, click that active link below and it will magically pull up any stores in the area that have what you want. If it is, click on that link, and order it, for pickup. Once you complete the process, it will be waiting, with your name on it, for you to come and pick it up. It's great, if you find what you are looking for. I have used that a couple of times.
But the problem is, if it's not available anywhere, well it's not available. But jump if you see it... I've ordered items for pickup when I'm heading out on vacation, and it works. If you can't get it in their time range, you can extend it until you get there. It works...
Yeah, I snagged my APM on launch day this way. Didn't have a specific plan to do so, I just happened to look on Apple's website at the right time, saw that it was available for pickup, and placed the order on a whim. The guy at the store was surprised that I was able to get one. Now, if you are looking for something, check early in the morning. I’ll keep my eyes peeled on the store. Any idea what is a good time to start checking in the morning?
It was said here that the new inventory doesn't go 'live' until some time in the morning. I generally checked around 7, or 8 AM. One time, I was looking for a 10S Max, and got one in a town I was going to vacation in, and then clicked to order. It was about 2 weeks out, but I though 'why not', and by the time I was clicking on the order for pickup, someone sniped me. *shrug* I tried the next day, nothing. I kinda gave up, and then about a week prior to arrival, I started working the magic. *BOOM*, I got a hit, and purchased. I tried again, and *BOOM*, got a second one. It sometimes works, and, well...
Has anyone traded in a MacBook in-store lately? Do they require the charger or is it like an iPhone where they just need the main unit?
Are they still acceptable MacBook trade ins in-store?
That's unfortunate... what's worse for the environment, allowing the customer to keep and continue to use a perfectly good existing charger, or destroying (and likely only partially recycling) it, prompting at least some of those customers to buy a newly manufactured replacement?Short answer, yes, you should bring it with. If you don't bring 'all of it', they very well may 'ding' you for not having it. I find that a little harsh, as a power block is the least expensive part of the MBP package. I get that they likely want it to recycle it, but, well, it's their rules. Plus if you need another block, they get to sell you a new one...
