I'm guessing most apple stores will only have the default configs? That would mean I'd have to get more than i need in order to get 32GB RAM on a 16", ugh.
For an M1 Pro, probably yes, though they might have the M1 Max (which does have 32gb). It was mentioned earlier that they'll often stock one "build to order" configuration, so I'm hoping for a M1 Pro / 32gb / 1TB.

probably only in space grey. Last year the M1s at the store only came in space grey.

The Apple Store will most likely have the 3 default 16” configurations in stock. That’s the 2,499, 2,699, and 3,499 models.

I am seeing on several forums that people only believe that 16 inches will be stocked in stores. Is there any reason why people don't feel they will stick 14 inches in store?

There will be 14" in stock too. Just no clue what configs, how many and when they will go live.

This is exactly what i would want, too. I don't need the extra graphics power but I can't skimp on 32GB of RAM.

Yeah, I'm still on the fence about it. If a Pro/32gb/1TB configuration is available, that's my first choice. Max is probably my second choice, but I haven't ruled out just going with 16gb.

I'll snag a configuration of the Pro, likely not a Max variation.

If Max is all that is available in the stores around, then maybe.

That's unfortunate... what's worse for the environment, allowing the customer to keep and continue to use a perfectly good existing charger, or destroying (and likely only partially recycling) it, prompting at least some of those customers to buy a newly manufactured replacement?

But you do get a new one with a new MBP, and most people are just going to toss the old one in the trash.. I'd give Apple the benefit of the doubt, and hope they really are recycling them, rather than know it's likely going to be in a landfill somewhere. I've taken a lot of old Apple equipment into the Apple Store to be 'disposed of'. Sometime you get a credit, but at least it's their problem. *shrug*

True. Maybe the best choice would be to give people the option of turning it in for recycling or keeping it for a VERY small deduction off the trade-in price (like $5). A lot of people could make use of an extra one (one for home, one for the office, one to keep in the bag, etc.).
