Yes.

If you know what the store front, etc.looks like for a new destination, from a drivers eye perspective (not helicopter's, because I'm not that wealthy yet) it can be much easier to find a place on first pass without passing it.

That's useful when you need it for small local stores (obviously bigger destinations are pretty easy to spot)

BUT...if you live in a big, rapidly-changing city, then street-view becomes useless in the long-run. why? smaller stores come and go, often times, I realize what I see on street view is no longer what the reality is like (and frequently, it's pretty far off from reality.)
Unless of course, google is willing to update those image every xx years (which I highly doubt)
