Prices are way too high.
I bought my MBP 15'' with a good deal, it was the late 2016 model but I paid it less than $2000 (about $400 less than the refurbished model sold by Apple).
Without a similar deal I'd have waited for at least another year or two, since spending more than $2000 for a laptop is really too much.

It is a good machine and I got used to the new keyboard pretty fast, but it is not worth the full retail price.
I like the touch bar, but it isn't a real breakthrough. I find it helpful in Safari to get to the favourites and I like some shortcuts in Xcode, but I don't use it a lot. I don't miss the F keys on the top, but it is more convenient to have a real ESC key, even if it is always on the same position on the TB is hard to get there without a physical button to press.

I still want to see a proper laptop from Apple, i.e. the return of the best laptop they ever made the 17" MacBook Pro. I bought three of them. These small toy laptops 13" or 15", are simply not good enough for the "pro" market. I also wish Apple would make a proper "pro" iMac, with 30" or 34"screen and not the small consumer 27" screen. Recent pictures do not show a door for user upgradable memory. If they expect people to pay Apple rip-off prices for memory, Apple won't sell any of them. I look forward to seeing the new Mac Pro, but believe Apple make computers they like and not want customers want, still. I have had Macs for over 20 years, yet am very, very disappointed with their current offerings. My 5K iMac (only 2yrs and 6 months old, needed a new logic board and fusion drive, due to over-heating to over 110º. My worst Mac for reliability so far, but still a great Mac.

Pretty bad for consumers, given the eye watering poor value for money due to their insanely high price.

Return the function bar, with a physical escape key and put the touchbar above that.

The touch bar is pretty awful with its lack of tactile feedback.

I hope that Apple update that 2015 15" MacBook Pro that they are still selling at a premium price despite having almost ancient CPU / GPU inside.

The function bar and escape key is there it's just not a physical one. Tactile feedback would help, but the Touch Bar in apps like Final Cut is actually very good. People must be buying them if this article is anything to go by, if that is the case i don't see the Touch Bar going anywhere i don think it will get better and Apple will evolve it.

Your joking right? You can get a faster PC for 1/3 the price of a Mac. When I bought my Lenovo it was 1500$ and beat every spec on a 4000$ MacBook Pro.

Mac is last years technology at tomorrows prices.

While i do agree you can get a faster PC the Mac is still a MUCH better experience, the OS is better and they tend to last a lot longer, i still have my 2011 MacBook Pro and 2012 iMac.

Yes I know its there, like I said, its not tactile, which is a complete PITA. Have the touch bar above the function keys. I use function keys / escape keys every day, having physical keys is so much better.

My only gripe with the pros is the graphics cards. I have a 2016 Pro that still struggles with full screen video playback. That is pretty damn unacceptable for a 2016 machine at this price point (nTB 13" pro).

Is it because of the graphics card or because of limited RAM?

I hope the touchbar model becomes cheaper so more people can opt for. If there are not takers, the touchbar would not get devs attention and without them, the touchbar is not even good for pac-man.

Apple removed them in order to make way for the Touch Bar, it doesnt really make sense to have physical function keys and then ones on the Touch bar as well. If you want the physical function keys Apple do sell the 13" MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar as an option.

Just looking at my work issues 15" Macbook Pro, there's space above the function keys for a touchbar. Apple just didn't want to...

Well, I can't do the things I need on my Mac that I can do on my PC, so using a Mac for those tasks isn't a better experience - its non existent!

Use the tools best for the task in hand. Mac cannot suit all needs.

Have you seen the specs on that 13"? they are crap. I would go for the 15" non touch bar laptop but it belongs in a museum its so old!

I can’t really believe the 2015 with essentially 3 year old cpu and graphics is still on sale for its full price. I’d buy one one in a heartbeat if the price dropped (still want all the various ports it offers and I don’t need super cpu speed).

Well it appears plenty of people find them quite acceptable.

I honestly don't know who is buying Macs at this point. Rich kids who don't know any better I guess. This past year I've watched pretty much every colleague of mine who works on media creation ditch Mac and get a PC. How Mac sales are still going is a mystery.
Interesting.

I see less PCs being used by photo / media colleagues when I enter media centers / photo dens. But I don’t think that is a reasonable representation of sales, just like your example isn’t enough of a sample.

Awful news IMHO. They shouldn't be getting reward for these machines. It will only encourage more madness. I can hear Tim and Jony now.....THINNER....make them even THINNER!!!!!!!!

Dell XPS looking increasingly likely for me once the hex core chips are released.

2016 15”. Most expensive, least reliable Mac I have ever had.

its crazy that apple is in the 4th place while deliver ONLY premium pretty expensive hardware with uncompromising approach while HP and all the other deliver stripped down products that probably are the majority of their annual sales

happy to know the mac is doing well, still waiting for the 5k thunderbolt 3 display ...

in my opinion the mac is THE Best personal computer by far, from hardware standpoint and by software standpoint, as a owner of the new 13 pro its a blast... also running boot camp alongside mac OS and i got the perfect laptop, the best mac OS machine and the best Windows machine.

a lot of people don't know that you can install windows in a mac via boot camp, not knowing that they can get far better hardware then a PC laptop with similar price tag as a mac...
Yes but clearly the Mac is N0°1 if you look purely at revenue. Half the number of sales and three times the average price at least. Great to see that a lot of people still get it and you are right, it is and that's from someone who also has windows machines. You use windows when you have to but the macs when you want to.
