Not in the UK and Europe they won't. Not at the prices we have to pay for them.
And please Americans don't feed me bullcrap about Europe's hyperinflation. When the pound and Euro were super strong against the dollar Apple still just swapped the currency sign and creamed in the difference. It's 100% pure greed.

Lazy are the MR readers not creating anything, but always criticizing everyone else
MR members are voicing and posting their ideas and frustrations, it’s how companies listen and make changes to critical thinkers experiences. Ah “brick-in-the-wall” mindset, because you know companies have telepathy even though monitoring your internet traffic comes close it’s not quite the same. 😝

Exactly. Latest example: The "awful" and widely criticised Noise Cancellation on the original AirPod Pro being now the main selling point of the AirPod Pro 2

Shameful that you and others with a similar mindset look at it with such a basic lens. Being in Canada we get hit all the time due to exchange rate fluctuations, but us Canadian’s “just feel sorry” that we have to pay a little more by working a little more eh. 😁

Well live in Japan and pay what we are! We are the most expensive: Iphones, watches, etc. 300.00 to 500.00 us more!
Say again?

It’s like the super wealthy scratching their heads, why is everyone complaining about XYZ? I am not being effected by such, the plebs are just complaining because you know they are lazy. 😝

That'll be because the so called exchange rate differences never benefited us even when they should. Apple just swap the currency signs when the rate is in our favour and spank us hard when it's not. There isn't going to be any sympathy for Apple this side of the pond when they've creamed us for so long.

You do realise Japan has been in a deflated economy for well over two decades. Negative interest rates, helps no one. EU did the same since I believe 2014 and only recently headed into positive territory, that should tell you that the fiat currency is devalued itself due to reckless fiscal monetary management. The people are just there for the uncomfortable ride.

Only problem is VAT, corporate taxes (even though Apple Pay’s the least of not any by being in Ireland), cost of business such as mandatory extended warranty, employee wages, property taxes, etc. All these things have been rising due to the governments incompetency and unfortunately any sane business will pass that to the customer. Apple generally does not fluctuate its hardware prices throughout the year unlike the AppStore and it will be a cold day in hell if and when Apple actually decreases the price of a popular product such as iPhone in the middle of the year (OG iPhone being an exception), what this signifies is that Apple is expecting the UK and EU monetary markets to drop in value compared to the U$D from now until the release of iPhone 15. If the hedge on pricing drops further Apple may probably eat the difference but expect it to be reflected in other areas and its newest release.

You honestly believe Apple does not seeks financial guidance for foreign currency strength and weakness along with employee wages, property and business taxes before pricing its products. Must be nice to have a very basic understanding of global markets. 😝 😇

I'm curious about Europe sales figures
If I was in EU, I would hold off for USB-C. Apple will just chalk this years sales off to weakening in global demand due to inflation. The stock price will dip a bit but long term investors will not blink an eye.

Yes, legal monopoly by popular choice. They'll charge what they want and you as the consumer will decide what android phone is next for you.
Nah the cost of raw materials including silicone have gone up in 2021-2022, it’s a trickle effects. People just don’t understand that their purchasing power has deteriorated over the years and more so in 2021-2022.

Kind of sad, it just means they can remain to be lazy cuz … why bother?

On the other hand, I assume this is US only? I wonder how the situation is in Europe for example
There is a headliner like this exactly because they are not lazy. Look, I understand with 1.8B users iphones aren't for everybody and everybody has their unique viewpoint. But the above type of generic stuff may mean you are not an apple customer. Apple does not produce a product you want to buy.

There is argument that even with the iPhone pro 14 should be skipped this year.
Whose argument is that? It's not Apples' argument and their argument is the only one that counts
Negligible camera difference, island is a bit gimmicky but neat, and the always on screen needs work.
But not negligible differences overall and certainly not coming from an iphone 12 or earlier. Dynamic island is a bit gimmicky but the old apple innovation is back. AOD is wonderful and a nice to have.
So if you have an iPhone 12 Pro or newer just wait for the usb c iPhone 15 pro
I disagree if you have a iphone 13 pro or newer wait. Iphone 12 people, evaluate your requirements and go from there.

Why do some feel the need to dismiss others concerns by providing silly options of “if you don’t like this then go with that”. It’s flawed, until there is something you disagree with and others use the same thought process which grinds one the wrong way. Yes, yes the “free market” analogy illusion that I am well aware off too 😝

The thing is, no one really cares about that. UK and EU consumers just look at the price of the current iPhone 14 models compared to last year's and say 'hell no'.

Other manufacturers often passed-on exchange-rate savings when the pound or Euro favoured the mfrs currency. Only greedy Apple was the guaranteed exception. There was a time in the 2010's when the £ was so strong against the US$ it was cheaper to take a budget flight to America, buy an iPhone and fly back with it, than buy one in our stores.

iPhone 14 sales the the UK and Europe will be a flop, and a market which is already dominated by Android phones will slip further away from Apple. Whether Apple care or not is a different matter.

I agree when there are legitimate discussion points. "Apple is lazy" is not a discussion point. That points to Apple not producing a product one wants to buy and points to lazy posting...often called a "hit and run".

Who in their right mind would pay for the same phone 2 years in a row? This was obviously intentional to push people to the Pro SKU. Tech savvy friends and family members are letting others know the Pro is the model to buy this year if you want something really new.

My concern though, when the market is saturated with Pro models, how are they gonna convince most to upgrade to next years Pro’s.

Don’t get me wrong, just as there are iPhone 13 Pro owners upgrading to iPhone 14 Pro, there will be a ‘niche’ set upgrading to the iPhone 15 Pro.

With a saturated market with most keeping their phones longer, the iPhone sales will eventually collide into a stagnant territory within a couple years. That is unless they introduce something radical and upgrade worthy.

Let’s admit, it’s been a minute since that has really happened. I’m happy for Apple, I just hope they are looking at the wider picture of most people keeping their phones longer.

€1,339 for a 128 GB iPhone 14 Pro. Safe to say they’ll be few and far between where I live. Back in the real world I’m unsure who will be buying these things. Because Apple has gotten so greedy I kind of hope iPhone sales crash and burn.

This is not Apple being greedy. The price of a 128GB iPhone Pro in Ireland before VAT is €1,088 which when converted to USD is around $1,061. That’s only $62 USD more than the price of the same phone (before sales tax) in the U.S.

It's also the same starting price the "Pro" model has had in the U.S. since it was introduced in 2019 with the 11 Pro which only had 64GB storage.

The bigger issue here is what happened to the euro versus the USD and that's not Apple's fault.

The price of a 128GB iPhone Pro in England is £915 before VAT which when converted to USD is around $1,012. That's only $13 USD more than the price of the same phone (before sales tax) in the U.S.

How is that 100% pure greed?

It’s the same as those „go back to your country“ folks that seem to just blindly follow and questions are not welcome. I love how some people just assume I have no Apple products. I actually have a lot, that doesn’t mean I „love“ them. Anything can be better. That’s the great thing about technology. ANYWAY, this is getting OT

I agree, throwing the word “lazy” without backing it up seems kinda lazy 🤣

Think it's a narrow niche of people.

What is intentional? How can you force people to buy anything they don't want to?

To me the people who like the features in the pro models will upgrade.

Apple is diversifying to ensure there are alternate revenue streams. There are always people who need a new phone, it's my guess three or four years is the sweep spot.

Don't get to be as big as Apple is by operating on a whim.

I love, want and demand premium quality in my tech tools and toys!

And that is why I have been living in the Apple ecosystem since 1998.

So for me, it will always be the Pro models that Apple offers - especially with the iPhone.

The Jobs/Ive DNA runs in my veins!
