... I frequently use one hand with my iPhones with a popsocket. I find that no matter where I put the popsocket I can no longer effectively navigate the screen with one hand...

It hasn’t occurred to you that the original poster might possibly be an amputee or have a physical disability preventing two hand typing. Probably not, but if so, your post is very condescending.

It was clear we were not dealing with a physical disability here.

iRing. Makes all the difference. I have pop sockets and I’m not using them.

I have pretty small hands and I can almost reach to the top left corner of my 8+ when I use one hand. I have a loopy case on my phone and it is much better for helping with reachability (and by reachability I mean actually reaching - not the feature) than items like pop sockets, mainly I think because only one finger goes through the loop and you can really stretch your hand more easily.

This seems like a lot of explanation when I know, in reality, people CAN use two hands, but I like that if I need to just use one, most of the time I can.

I didn’t mean to sound like a dick earlier. Maybe it was my mood on that particular day, whatever.

I happen to be a quadriplegic following a spinal cord injury years ago and have paralysis in all extremities. No fine controlled movement of the fingers, wrists, nothing. However, I do have biceps (no triceps), gross shoulder movement, and gravity which allows me to use my iPhone which is mounted on my wheelchair using a Ram mount holder. Typing is done with my right thumb with my fingers being held by the edge of my phone.

I recently upgraded to the iPhone XS Max from a 5S and find the larger screen wonderful except some items can be a stretch and difficult to control at times, like the keyboard.

sorry if this is obvious but idid you try the one handed keyboard options?

As long as phone screens get bigger and app devs continue to put buttons and poorly designed hamburger menus near the top of the screen then this will continue to be a problem.
Yep good point. Menu's should be at the bottom now. Chrome's most recent update overhauled their UI & it's much more large screen/one handed-friendly.

All 3 2018 iPhones were not designed for one handed use. In the press event we never heard any of the Apple speakers say ‘ one handed’ like they did in previous years
While it’s possible some people can do it don’t struggle to do it As it costs to much

Apple never talk about ergonomics when it comes to the newer iPhone, which the SE was the exception in March 2016 when Greg Joswiak mentioned consumers wanted a 4 inch form factor. Apple discusses the hardware and software features, they don’t really discuss things like ‘one hand operability’.

Yes, that’s what I use and thanks for asking.

When I was at the Apple store comparing screen sizes between the XS and the XS Max it all came down to spacing. The first thing I did was pop open a web browser on each to an identical page and to my surprise, there was the same amount of content per line, but there was more white space around the words making them much easier to read on the Max. With the resolution of the XS items appeared to be more crammed, in my opinion, and not as easy on the eyes.
