Students drinking less soda? (or pop, or whatever you call it)

What in the...can you say thread resurrection?

Anyway, pop rules. But I can understand not having it in school - water should be it. Y'all don't need a caffeine boost in class(ideally, at least :p).

Yeah I'm drinking less pop. But then again, I'm consuming 5x more beer. :D

You and me both, bud.

I am tryin to incorporate more water into my diet as I find myself actually getting some effects of dehydration lately. Aside from the redbull once in a while, I'm either drinking coffee (sugar free flavored creamer, and cancer-causing sugar, cause come on, normal sugar is bad for you! :) ), or water.

i think if people want to drink these things, schools shouldnt b able to stop them. Lifes not always going to b restricted like this and thats how we get 500- pound people like i drink water EVERY meal bc i dont wanna drink soda and h8 milk but i do enjoy an accasional soda but cant get 1 every except on holidays so one at school a month wont hurt 2 bad. Only this year (1st yr in the school) did they stop. I think its so stupid or at least not let them around classes to cut back but not completely ban them all together

Epic failure at a thread resurrection.

Anyways, I'll play along. Water 4 Lyfe!

I drink Powerade and water almost exclusively, and some variant of fruit juice every now and again. Since I got to college, it's very rare that I'll actually drink soda/pop/whatever ("pop" or "Insert Brand Name" in Cincinnati)...mostly because of the no-**** diet I'm on for the Navy. Amazing, the freshman 15 is a myth indeed...

i usually have milk/juice w/ breakfast. always water w/ lunch. then vitamin water, smart water, propel or tea mixins the rest of the time. and sometimes pop. edit: forgot i have monster like once a week.

I usually drink melted ice cream with every meal. Often in my cereal I use chocolate milk. After a run I down a few beers.

I enjoy being Healthy 2.0™.

Yea, I haven't drunk pop in over a year (for the most part; i may've had four or five at the most... also some 7-Up/Sprite in some punches)... I only drink water, milk, and juice... I'm 6'2" and weigh 145 lbs. I LOST six pounds just by dropping pop (not that I needed to! :D).

coke

It might be worth noting for this conversation that many people in the southern states in the US use the term "coke" generically in the place of "pop","soda", "soft drink", etc. So when we say coke, we could mean Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Pepsi, etc. If we actually want something other than Coca Cola Classic, then we clarify.

Maybe kids are drinking less because they don't allow it to be sold in many schools now.

Anyways, I hate soda. Milk and Water is all I drink. Not even juice. I've never had alcohol and probably never will. Yes I am 17 and I've never drank lol.

The concept of milk has been starting to bother me. Not really the morality or what ever but the fact you are drinking cow's milk is just strange.

I drink an average of 8 cups of tea a day, never less, sometimes more.
I don't think I ever have anything else

I really see no point in banning regular soda in schools, they're just going to go home and drink half a case of Mountain Dew that evening! My school district never allowed the sale of soft drinks before 2:00 that day anyway. Then my senior year of high school they went to all diet and wouldn't even allow Gatorade, only Propel or Aquafina.

I'll occasionally have a Pepsi, but I've mostly stuck by water, orange juice, Vitamin Water, and Gatorade.

Healthier really should be in quotations; I'll take the calories and tooth-rotting goodness of regular pop over the weird terribleness of artificial sweeteners any day, a choice actually recommended to me by my doctor (although he did preach the dangers of all pop, not just diet). I get nasty headaches from aspartame, but I'm not sure if the Splenda-sweetened versions of Diet Coke and Pepsi have any side effects other than terrible taste.

I prefer Coke Zero to regular Diet Coke (which I can't stand). Diet Pepsi is pretty good too, but I prefer Coke Zero to everything. It has zero sugar, but people are right in saying that water is best.

Juices have a lot of sugars in them, and so I stay away from all forms of sugary drinks. Once in a while, I take a few sips of orange juice, but that's it. I use Splenda extensively in my tea. I have been trying to get myself to drink more green tea, but have failed so far.

Daze

I used to drink 6 cans of pop a day. One time, I drank around 10 cans and had migraines for the next 3 days. I started to cut back. Gatorade was my liquid of choice, but that fell away when I started going back to school. Small gatorades for 1.50$? Pop is cheaper. Today, I drank half of a 20 oz. Mountain Dew, 2 generic orange sodas, and 2 generic citrus pops. I usually only drink a can or two of pop a day, and nothing else.

I prefer Vitamin Water XXX and Gatorade along with Snapple and Dairymen's Ice Tea if possible (and cheap.)

"Sugar is killing the nation, really, and it's because people consume so much sugar, and then don't do anything at all."

That would certainly explain why we are living longer than ever!!!! Other risk factors for type 2 diabetes are yo-yo dieting, environmental endocrine disrupters, an aging population, and the fact pharma has lowered what blood sugar numbers qualify to sell more pills.
