Probably a combination of required membership and it being the base model. I'd consider getting it if we knew that the stand swap was real or just a rumor. I could live with a tilt for a while but I'd want a better stand eventually.

Still basically the only option for those in search of the base model.
 
They also (Costco) have a bonus gift card promo going on spend $1500 get a $200 card and more if you spend more.

Just a thank you for flagging the Costco option. I have never belonged to Costco before. Joined and ordered a Studio Monitor last Friday (Costco membership was $60, Studio Monitor was $1499). Decided to pick it up at a nearby Costco as I had never seen the place. The website originally said it would be delivered (to Costco) on May 4. It shipped, finally, on the morning of May 3, and I got an email saying I could pick it up today, Thursday, May 5. Went over and got it and was surprised to find Costco quite crowded even mid-day on Thursday. Set the monitor up with my Mac Mini (taking the place of the Thunderbolt monitor I've had for nearly 10 years) very quickly and easily, and it's great. By the way, I'm in LA, and from what I can tell, it shipped from Northern California. (Oh, adding... My local Apple Store lists this as delivering in July if you order now...)

For those looking still for a quicker option, I found one available at 6:51 local time this morning at my local Apple Store. I quickly purchased it. Went back less than a minute later and availability was back to August again. When I picked it up, I was told they received two displays in the last few days, that's all. So it's still possible to find one at a local Apple store for same day pickup.

What model was it?
 
B&H Photo Video has the studio display with nano texture, tilt only, available in stock right now (June 2)... wish I wanted the nano texture :)
 
I was lucky enough to score two ASD today from my local Apple Store (Robina Australia) using the Apple Store App. I picked them up from the store today.

I had one on backorder with apple (delivery est August) but just canceled it cuz I was able to swoop one from Costco online. (Shoutout to my mom for having an account ;p) delivery est…WEDNESDAY

Quite a few UK Apple Stores showing stock right now. I've just ordered one and will pick it up this evening, I was always planning on two and have one that's allegedly due in the next three weeks or so.
 
Update for those not in the discord: Stocking has been incredibly dire for anything except for Nano Texture Tilt-only models.

Status: (Reminder I can only check Apple Stores, not Costco/Best Buy/Etc)
Standard Tilt - No Stock since 6/30
Standard Tilt/Height - No Stock now. 3 in stock nationwide in the past week, one in Los Angeles, one in Las Vegas, and one in Cambridge.
Standard VESA - Never been in stock
Nano Tilt - Several in stock all over the country as we speak, across 27 unique stores.
Nano Tilt/Height - No Stock now. 4 in stock in the past week.
Nano VESA - Never been in stock

There were no Tilt/Heights at all between 6/18 and 7/01, Nano or Standard.
 
It appears the VESA mount standard and nano glass model will be appearing in some stores later this week.
