Do you think the new MacBook will be popular enough to warrant a morning queueing up outside the Apple Store or do you think they will still have enough availability to go in the evening and buy one? I quite like the idea of the gold one but my guess is that it will be the most popular choice

Ha, no. It's a Mac. They simply don't get the attention that iOS devices do. You won't have a problem.

On the other hand, this is a Mac that looks like an iOS device. It's beautiful, light, simple, and expensive. I'm sure it will sell like hot cakes, though I'm not sure anyone should queue in front of any Apple store...

Not a chance it will sell out. This is beyond a niche product. I cannot see how anyone could think the new Macbook is a better buy than the macbook with retina at the same price.

No sense in queuing, i'm either in madrid, rome or paris, but not at home and i do want a german keyboard. Guess i have to order mine online.

Even though they say launch day is April, they do not guarantee you that all colors are available at each store.

To me queuing is more of a social thing, you wanna joint the party go ahead, but so that you may get a popular gold that day, don't be disappointed if you don't, and definitely don't drive 150 miles and skip school.

For some of us it is. I'm selling my rMBP and getting the new MacBook.

I think the price point is probably a bit much for it to sell out. I think those early reviews will be quite critical.

It probably won't sell out on launch day, but I think it will sell very well. I think your assessment is way off the mark, but only some time will tell. The 11" MBA doesn't sell all that well (I've read), so maybe this one will suffer from the same limited appeal. Apple's market research is usually pretty good.

Absolutely not, no. The main reason for the delay is for Apple to ramp up production, plus the cost of the device will make it prohibitive for most users.

The 12" MacBook is a great device as an ultra-portable low-use second laptop. I'll leave my 15" at home, take the 12" on the road. For that reason, it has a limited audience, so you're not going to get hundreds of people rushing down to a store on release day, to purchase one!

I'd assume most people will still plump for a 13" MBP over the 12" MB.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I guess I'm just worried I won't get one on launch! ☺️

If you want gold or silver, you should be fine on launch day if the poll on this forum is anything to go by...

Exactly. There is no point of me waiting in line.

This is one reason why I wish Apple would open up pre-orders. For those of us who are going for the 1.3GHz BTO option, that's just an extra week we'll have to wait if we can't order until April 10th.

I know. I don't want everybody to be playing with their new 'toy' long before I get mine. I'm ready to buy right now!

Are you really sure you'll get good bang for the buck on the 1.3gHz upgrade? I'm not arguing with you (believe it or not ;) ), but I don't think that I'd ever notice the difference in my own uses for this machine.
