The best thing to do is not get wound up over tech reviewers. They have opinions like the rest of us. I watch the videos, see what is said and make my own opinions from my own experiences. Don’t lose any sleep over it folks and don’t take it personally.

The only tech reviewer who matters to me is Floss. Keeps it real, calls out BS, highly entertaining. Some Marc Rebillet is icing on the cake haha.

Ummm. I just purchased an iPhone 8+ last week and I could have purchased any new iPhone 13.
For me - the iPhone 8+ is still the pinnacle of iPhone because of the screen.
The iPhone X is deeply flawed because of its horrible PWM flickering OLED screen. It has the worst screen (flicker wise) of any iPhone ever made. Current iPhone OLED screens flicker too, but the X was the worst.
If OLED PWM flickering is your concern, then there are still LCD iPhones made after the 8+. How is the 8+ the pinnacle of iPhone design in any way?

Those are all paid "reviewers" and Apple doesn't pay for reviews. That's been their policy since the Steve Jobs era. Samsung and Google, however, pay or outright sponsor review sites. You do the math.
Apple might not outright pay reviewers, but they do withhold early access units from reviewers who do not toe the line. That is incentive enough for reviewers to know which side their bread is buttered.

That guy is one of the worst offenders. Half the time he doesn't know jack sh*t about the product he's "reviewing". He was cool to watch in the beginning because he was so 'hood' about it and I can relate--but after a while lmao absolutely not.

Pinnacle in my book because of the screen.
401 ppi LCD screen, 1920x1080p. Zero flickering. No notch cutout. No rounded corners.

The iPhone 8+ has the “best” iPhone screen ever made (if flickering from OLED screens bugs your eyes like it does mine)

Ah right. I forgot about the notch. The 8+ is not my cup of tea, but you make a good point.

An important distinction is that there are "reviewers" and "influencers". One thing, for the most part that they share in common, is a predominant proclivity to allow ego to cloud their content in that they don't present the facts, both pro and con, and allow us to make our own decisions. It's fine to interject their opinions but to tell us that we shouldn't upgrade or not is a bridge too far.
