I bought Skyrim legendary edition, Civilisation V complete edition, Sim City 4 and Natural Selection 2 (Natural selection 1 was one of my favourite games back in the days).

Bought Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 & 3 at the new 50% discount. I'm not sure if I should buy the DLC's for them also.

The DLC's are worth it especially if you're into Special Ops (co-op gameplay). The more maps, the merrier. I grabbed MW3 and DLC "Collection 3 - Chaos Pack" for the time being.

Would Splinter Cell: Blacklist be a good choice for a fan of Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

I've only played conviction, which was extremely linear and action-oriented. Blacklist is supposed to be more stealthy, but I'm not sure how nonlinear the levels are.

I'm hoping there's some additional updates when it goes live on the 30th. That's one reason I didn't get Wasteland 2 because the release date isn't until December.

Yeah, I've been trying to stay away from the early access stuff. I don't have a problem with the concept of people buying into a beta, but I personally don't want to play a game until it's at least in its final stages. I'm afraid it'll ruin the experience for me, and I'll get burned out on it before I get to play it feature complete.

The only reason why I picked up Divinity is because it's coming out in less than a week, and I figured I'd go ahead and take advantage of the sale.

My one pet peave is that you can't zoom out farther. I'm sure there's probably a way to do this in an option file somewhere as in Rift it had a zoom limit that hindered raid bosses, but with a little .ini editing the problem was easily fixed.

I'm willing to bet there is a way to tweak it somehow. There was this one time when I was traveling down the steps to the harbor in Cyseal that the camera kept pulling farther and farther away from me the farther down I went. By the time I hit the docks, my little guys were barely a couple centimeter tall on the screen, and I could see just about half the town from my vantage point.

That little experience made it all but obvious that the camera isn't fixed to a specific degree, so you can probably change it some way, some how.

I'm tempted to pick up Torchlight II and Magicka since combined they're less than $5, but I've picked up so much already that will definitely keep me occupied until the Winter sale.

Wow. I hope that turns out to be true. That would be great.

Picked up The Wolf Among Us, Tomb Raider GOTY Edition, Metro Last Light Complete and The Last Remnant yesterday.

I know Metro has issues at the moment but the fix being delayed is understandable considering the developers were based in Ukraine. I read someplace they are currently relocating and the game is going to be fixed. I can easily wait anyway with so much to play.

I couldn't resist The Last Remnant which was only $2.50 and is rated Platinum with Wine: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=28566

I'm having a good time with this sale so far myself. :D

What issues in Metro?? I almost picked that up yesterday. And how much of the extras are Mac comparible? You know, sometimes bonus content doesn't get ported.

I'm not sure if others agree but, I find this summer's steam sale to be very underwhelming compared to other sales they have had.

Some years you just find that you already have all the games you want. Wait until next year, you'll find yourself impulsively purchasing games again.

It won't run in Mavericks for one thing. There is a 14 page thread of complaints about this in the Steam discussion forum for the game. It's been a problem for a while now but people are just finding out as they buy it on sale. The publisher has mentioned the developers moving to a new location and a fix coming but that is part of the delay in getting it done.

I went ahead and bought it figuring I can easily wait for whatever time it takes and in the worst case scenario, reboot to play it in Windows 7.

All the DLC is listed as Steamplay so presumably it should all be fine once the game itself is.

yes its a steam client issue, not the developers fault as the same game works if bought from app store. I doubt they will fix it when the redux version is on its way..

Of course they will fix it. Why wouldn't they? as you say, it's a simple Steam issue. Redux isn't coming out for two months and is a paid release. Also, it hasn't even been announced for the Mac yet.

According to the publisher's support quoted by a user in the thread I mentioned:

They clearly state they are fixing it and soon. Actually, before I get corrected here... they state it is getting fixed and soon. They don't say who is doing the fixing, whether it be them or Valve.

Well, I can't say I blame you there. Normally I would not buy a promised Mac version or even corrected for Mac version but I made an exception in this case where I'd be willing to reboot for it if it came down to that.

Most here know I dislike steam with a passion, but even I cannot resist a sale if it is something I really want, so far only bought Bioshock Infinate with DLC.

Why is steam addictive even when you really do not want to use it, lost count of the times I have removed it from my Mac.

Im curious, why the hatred for steam?

On a side note, great sales this summer! I have a great backlog of games to play now :D

OK, OK...add The Secret World to my list. :D

I've been putting off buying it because it was something like $20-$30 for just the game and additional money for each contect update, which ends up being rather expensive. North of $75, IIRC. Well, all the latest contect and the core game was $15.00 yesterday and I'm a sucker for online games. I love the idea of the world and had a bit of fun playing the beta, so I figured for an MMO sans monthly payment, I'd pull the trigger.

This has absolutely destroyed my Win 7 partition on my MBP though, I only have like 5GB free out of 200 after this week and I still don't have everything installed. :D

Easy one that....

DRM
Useless support
Not a care for their customers.

Can't argue with the last 2 points, but for the first one, Steam is about the least intrusive form of DRM out there, and it's something you are never going to get away from unless the only games you play are from GOG. The Mac App Store is a form of DRM, as is Origin. The DVDs I have for Feral games use online activation.

In any case, I did end up buying Splinter Cell: Blacklist. I'm hoping other Splinter Cell games up on a deeper discount than 40%. And just because I could and it had a Mac port, I bought Car Mechanic Simulator 2014. It looks just quirky enough to be entertaining.
