AZ and IN (most of it anyway) are the only states that don't do DST.

And Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa...

Back on topic... has Apple made any statements about what to expect from the next versions of FCP or DVDSP? I looked over the Apple site and in typical Apple fashion they don't even acknowledge there will ever BE newer versions of anything... except the OS.

I'm kinda wondering if FCP4 will include the editing function of the MPEG2-encoded Hi-Def video shot on the new Panasonic consumer MiniDV Hi-Def camera.

I don't think there's any straght way you can edit that MPEG2 HD signal recorded on that cam. Panasonic ships that camcorder with a PC-only editing software.

The MiniDV HiDef camera is made by JVC, not Panasonic. The Panasonic is the DVX100, capable of 24 fps, but not HD.

I really hope Apple releases FCP4, and that this summer brings us PPC970's!!!

THat camera is not HiDef . Just 24 frame DV. It is a common misconception.

That's what I meant. JVC has a MiniDV HiDef camera. Panasonic has a 24fps MiniDV camera that's NOT HiDef.

I guess the press conference should be starting now. (3pm EST, 12noon Pacifit)

Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Ameican Samoa are states now...?

AFAIK the only FCP 4 info has been rumor based (mostly "What I want to be in FCP 4" lists by users). I haven't heard anything from Apple about what to expect. But I assume they will do the usual and announce FCP 4 and then actually start shipping it a few weeks/months down the road.

My fingers are crossed for FCP 4 with real time effects ouput through FireWire. (And that it will do so on a dual G4 500! :D )

... and more RT effects would be nice too. Avid Express claims to have 100 or so, but from what I've read, it's realy only a few with many different versions - kind of like old Atari VCS games, some of which advertised 100+ variations! How many versions of Space Invaders or Asteroids did we need? :p

BRING IT ON, APPLE!!! FCP4, quad PPC970 workstations, Video iPods with 500GB HDD, 3D holographic 40" Cinema Displays...

ok, got carried away... I'd settle for FCP4 and Dual PPC970's.

Keep us posted on any new developments, Arn!

Front page changed...

New products...

iDVD2, FCP4, Shake

As expected, I believe. But, it's nice to have a changed front page! :)

Pro Software updates

So there we have it: Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro and Shake got updated. FCP4 has a bigger box by the look of it so I expect the manual to be bigger, meaning that there are a lot of new features. Audio editing seems like the most obvious improvement and I am happy for that. Now... when I wonder will Final Cut Express 2 come out? One to keep an eye on I guess.

 As stated in the thread Sunday was when many companies made announcements before the offical begining of NAB convention in Vegas on Monday.
