    Admit it, you love them.

I personally love them, however I tend to eat the shell and the seed

Is there anyone else that does that? Or am I just a sick and deranged person (Well, I am but that's besides the point)?

    Or so I'm told...

I believe they're quite fattening. For budgies, anyway.

Actually, they are fully of good Poly and Mono unsatured fat.

Perhaps, but a sunflowery feast might not be so good for unsuspecting budgies though.

Budgies? Somebody on a budget or a UK term that I'm about to learn and use in my everyday vocabulary? (ex: Twunt)

I heard that only Islanders fans eat sunflower seeds whole.... some sort of strange genetic predisposition.....:D

I like 'em, but I don't eat them often. I don't eat the shell, ya sick bast**d.

As in budgerigar. I tend to associate sunflower seeds with snacks given to birds, rather than something I'd scoff myself.

Those don't mix well with pesticides.

    Islanders fans love pain...

    Ya, I know

I googled it. Meh, they're actually good. Too bad I don't have a beak to crack them open with.

I reserve my sunflower seed eating time to baseball games, at which point I become a messy bastard. :D

I loved the Sunflower seeds you could buy when I was on holiday in Spain, I believe they are the ones you are talking about (still in the shell, salted?). I loved breaking the shell open in my mouth and getting the bit in the middle out and spitting out the shell.

Unfortunately we don't seem to have them here in the UK (I think I've seen them once), we just have big giant packs of the de-shelled sunflower seeds, usually in health food stores.

Until you mentioned it, I didn't think there was another way of eating them.

Really? I'm surprised to hear that you can't get sunflower seeds in the shell there. They're all over North America. If you watch a baseball game, the players all eat them and spit the shells everywhere.

I've never been able to eat them like the pros do. What they do, is take a huge handful and put them all in their mouth, and move them all over to the inside of one cheek. Then, they de-shell them, one at a time, spit out the shell, and move the seed part over to the over cheek. When you're finished de-shelling, you have a crapload of unshelled seeds in your mouth waiting to be eaten.

I'm just not coordinated enough to eat them that way- I'm a one at a time kinda guy.

I like the flavored David's too- especially the All Dressed. But it's been a while.... maybe I'll pick up a bag to eat while I watch the Avs/Wings game tonight.... (the Habs/Flyers game isn't on here:()

I suck on them, then spit them at the feet of the nearest unsuspecting passerby. The look of confusion on their face is timeless.

Been eating them like crazy since I started working out. I like the Ranch flavored ones from David, though Original is good too. I eat them as described in the post above mine.

EDIT: Make that 2 posts above mine. ;)

I love eating the shell. It's almost more enjoyable than the seed itself. Most people make fun of me for it too, so i understand where you are coming from. :)

In front of the TV, at the Game or Both? Either way it's a good time.

Never had pumpkin seeds nor have I ever had the flavor seeds. Sounds interesting.

Indeed. Shelled and salted (or floured in some cases).

I'm honestly not a fan of the de-shelled seeds. It doesn't taste right. Sucks you can't them in the UK

    Ooooo so I'm not alone!

Most, if not all, people pop the seeds in their mouth and spit out the shell after getting out the kernel.

    :D

I can't do what the pros do either. Then again I just eat the entire thing. :D

Grab a bag and make a mess. Too bad the Habs/Flyers game ain't on, it surely (no pun intended) is gonna be a great game
