In all honesty it was the battery life improvements that finally convinced me to get an iPhone and move away from the iPod Touch. I'm a light phone user, a few calls and texts in a day at most, and as I walk to work it's mainly used as an iPod when I'm out and about. Yet I'm getting three to four days between charges at the moment, more than my wife's getting out of her Motorola flip phone.
I've had a few smartphones over the years and they've all had the same problem: I could never be quite sure if I'd make it to the next charge. With the iPhone that's not an issue. On a related topic I really think the phone industry at large needs to copy Apple's option of having a percentage figure for remaining battery life. It makes life SO much easier than dealing with the traditional battery icon.
