Okay, with all the news and such comming up (plus the release of the freaking game), lets have one thread to discuss everything about it.

One think i have found out is that the game is having an Orchestrated Sound Track!!!!

We get it 4 days after the US, which is just so awesome for once.

Just looks like such a fun and inventive game.

edit: that song is worlds of brilliant :eek:
 
I'd love to know what you guys think before I buy it. I'm in a tossup between this and My sims. I'm a bit worried with SMG that I will get cybersickness from it with all the spinning around

It is awesome, but nothing beats a good old N64 soundtrack...I recently had a go on Diddy Kong Racing, and the music on that beats anything today for gameplay complementing :)
 
I am not a big gamer, but I am very much looking forward to this. The last game I played from beginning to end was Mario Sunshine, so I am looking forward to this one. I may just have to pre-order this guy.
 
Preordered at local gamestop before the SSBB delay was announced. Super stoked since the delay. This will have to last me until Feb. ;)
 
SMG is looking great....looks like its pushing that little box to its limits...no doubt a must buy.

The coop looks kinda bland but thats no problem for me....I'll be playing it by myself and viccles get SMG.

I know what you mean about the sickness. For almost everything I'm okay, but for some fast paced games I get a bit dizzy like.

Have you tried eating ginger before a game? I find a few ginger biscuits help, and my brother swears by it when travelling. Oddly enough!
 
I just preodered is at Gamestop so get some kind of mario coin thingy!

Also they had the FULL RETAIL VERSION of the game in the demo stations so i played from the beginning. Very nice, though the graphic seemed so much nice in the video i saw! I bet this is because of the TV and the fact that is was not using conponent cables.
 
Right since my Metroid Prime 3 order is on back-order (boooo) I'm not going to be late to the Galaxy party. My preorder is now on and if I don't get this I will cry :p
And then get back to work.

MP3 is AMAZING! I personally thinks it's single player (since that's all it has) is a lot better than halo.
 
Interesting music but I usually have games sound turned down when I play so it's not a selling point for me. To me it's good video game music...but I have to have the video game part in there because to me even really successful, epic music, stories, art, etc in video games still isn't there for me...particularly story-wise.

I'd rather listen to real music while playing. But that's a personal preference probably not shared by many on these boards...unless we're talking Excite Truck then I think we can all agree ! :D

For me a game is the fusing of art, story, music to create something more than film or TV show
 
Idealy that would be the case for me too. But if honest game stories are pretty lame...pretty much lowest on the totem (maybe a slight step up from Porn movie writing). They're getting better but even the biggies with huge budgets have stupid plots and dialogue compared to a well made film, novel, etc...cough, cough Gears of War (yikes). Event TP was a pretty cheesy story when you really step back...worked for the game and the franchise but pretty lame.

I would love for video games to be there and think we're moving there...but it's not there yet. I do consider them art even where they are at now. The involvement they pull you into and the worlds they create are better than the best installation art around these days...and way better than performance art :D

At this stage is a story to Super Mario Galaxy even a consideration. Let's be honest we all know it will be garbage (the story - not the game) and will basically consist of some stupid princess being kidnapped by bowser yet again... Hardly original after 25 or more years at this stage.
 
not that rescueing the kidnapped princess/girl is a new thing anyway ...such stories are thousands of years old by now are are somehow classic material i would say
 
OMG I'm sorry guys! I wrote a lovely little paragraph or 2 about games and their impact and ways that they're separated from other media. Only it's vanished :confused:

It even cut off half way through a sentence! Not the first time it's happened with me since upgrading to Leopard too :confused::confused::confused:

But if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Eh?

Sure it may seem a bit cliché, but SMG has a stunning visual appeal and many aspects the gameplay are quite innovative. :cool:
