i waited until i got all of the coins for the first three levels and then i bought it. i think it's awesome and worth the price. Are there any people on this board who have spent the $10 and now wish they hadn't? I bought the game and the levels got more interesting. Also I think the friends sharing and competition thing is going to be fun.
That whole model doesn't make sense though. Why would they release a game that required them to continue development on it after release? They made s finished game. Any money they make brings down the cost and they don't have to add (much) more time to it.
Especially for a company like Nintendo. They have other things to work on. For companies with one game that is doing well they need to rinse that game for literally everything they can so maybe a constant update would work for them.
A plane, rural car trips, mountains, camping, military leave, out of the country, some subways and trains, boats. List goes on. The internet doesn't permeate like air just yet on earth.
what are the other "limitations" of family sharing? or was that an accident, making that plural?
and what if you guys wanted to play multiplayer games that would require you both to have your own account for itunes/app store? my girlfriend and i play games together all the time but we wouldn't be able to if we had a shared account
you lost me, man; i have no clue what you're talking about.Another limitation is that you can only have 6 members, whereas you could share an Apple ID with 7 or more.
One more limitation is that once a member leaves the Family Sharing, she takes all the purchases she made for the family from her devices, they are now bound to her Apple ID. This can be a good thing, but I find it limiting that this behavior is not configurable, by the family member who provides the credit card for example.

I shows that you have no experience with the concept of a shared Apple ID that is used for purchases. How come you argue with a whole bunch of people in this thread, when you have no clue about the alternative to Family Sharing?
i would never want to share an apple id with somebody.
i understand how purchases work with an apple id. it's very simple. but, if you can have separate accounts, why not just do that? i don't see the benefit of sharing one account. but hey, it's all about what works for YOUYou don’t even want to understand how sharing a “purchases only” Apple ID work, heh!?
I'm not defending Nintendo by any means, but how do you figure Nintendo overestimated the demand? If the estimates are to be believed, they cleared $20,000,000 in revenue in 4 days.10 Worlds would be the finished game. Just would cost $3.99 to unlock the extra worlds. $2.99 entry point would be low enough for many to jump on creating a lot of money for Nintendo. The IAP would be the cherry on top especially if they see folks paying more to unlock the additional 5 worlds. That would indicate demand for more content.
Nintendo overestimated the Mario brand on this one and it shot them in the foot.

Well, to be fair, Apple takes $6 million out of that chunk. Not sure who Nintendo has to split their $14 million with. I bet Miyamoto is getting a nice chunk of the revenues.$20,000,000 revenue in 4 days on a game that must have a max budget of $5,000,000.
Damn! I need to shoot myself in the foot more often!
I noticed that in the shop there is a pink, purple and black pipe that says something like "It has a star on it and when tapped will take you to a secret course".
Sounds like a star world to me.
You can purchase them once you have collected all of the respective coloured coins![]()
Yep. Sadly, people are happier paying $100 over a year than $10 all at once.
Goodbye, single-priced apps of the future.
I hate this whole affair is just giving more fuel to that conclusion.
It's been posted many times that you do not have to pay the $10 to unlock the game on multiple devices.I have absolutely no problem paying $10 for this Game. My issue is paying $10 for each member of my Family to play.
If it was a $10 up front purchase then we could all play for that $10. Making it an In-App purchase means we have to pay $30 for all of us to play the full game. It's ridiculous.
and my question is simply, why? why not just use your own apple id? no confusion with that.I was talking about your understanding of the concept of sharing a “purchases only” Apple ID with the family.
Where everyone uses this ID for the iTunes Store setting only and for everything else they use their personal Apple ID. For everything iCloud (iMessages, reminders, calendars, keychain, etc.), the IMAP Mail account or Game Center.
Exactly my sentiment!!! Power of marketingI'm surprised by how fast it's growing given how poor the app store reviews are. I think we're at 2 1/2 stars. The paywall seems to come up quick and the initial play of the game was more or less boring and not challenging
I went through the first couple of levels and hit the paywall. I then deleted the game.
What I don't understand is asking 10$ for an app game, with so simplistic gameplay and graphics as Mario which can be coded and designed from the ground up by a several good app developers in a matter of months (or even weeks if we consider that Nintendo is an expert with decades of experience in game development so they must have all processes really optimized and organized).

how is it a scam? you don't have to pay anything to use the feature. whether you have family sharing or not, the price of the app is still $10I always said family sharing was a scam. Back when it was new people told me I was cynical and shouldn't worry. But here we are. That was clearly why it was invented.

Nintendo investors have been thinking that what Nintendo needs is a jump to mobile and possibly abandon their hardware platform and focus on software ... similar to what Sega ended up doing years back. If this first major venture of Nintendo's ends up being a big bust, it foreshadows that the whole future of the company is in doubt and that maybe we are looking at the end of an era and the end of Nintendo. Already WiiU games have been removed from shelves of GameStop and we are being that only PlayStation and Xbox are surviving into the future. Combine that fact that gamers see the future as being about VR and Nintendo has no R&D there ... it surely puts a lot of pressure on Nintendo to get this mobile jump right or doom them forever.Nintendo shares have dived because of this apparently. Yet Apples never do. A strange phenomenon.
Don't need to provide a link. It's the first post in this thread.Provide a link to the estimates please. Everyone downloading a free demo and a few buying the full version would not trump my proposal. We will never know though.
