My serial is DNR. I get 4-5 min for every 1% drop surfing on Safari.

But I have iCloud completely off and locations except for Map off.

Mine is the worst it's been today. I'm at 2 hours usage with 4 hours standby and down to 65%. This is with locations off..siri disabled but with push email every 15 mins. No idea what my serial number is and no way in hell I'm gonna take this otterbox defender off...thing is like a tank.

Serial number is accessible from the software.

I can't kill my battery, lol. I'm beyond 36 hours of standby and five hours of usage with the screen on FULL brightness, which includes nearly an hour of youtube, a bit of music, texting, dinking around, playing games, and I have basically everything but iCloud and bluetooth on, and I still have 16% battery...I'm trying to kill it so I can recharge/calibrate, but it's proving difficult, lol.

What size phone/carrier are you using?

32gig white, AT&T. Serial starts with DNP, but I doubt that matters.

Load a full movie on it and let it play

posts like this make me think i have a defective 4s. I lose 1% every min while using the phone

For those experiencing bad battery life...

1. Did you restore from a backup?

2. If yes, did you try restoring and setting up as new?

If you answered yes to #1 and no to #2... you need to restore and set up as new to see if that solves your issue.

can you do me a qiuck favor and post the first three letters/numbers of your serial #? Mine is DNP, and i've seen other people with DNP having similar issues

I disagree here. My serial starts with dnp and i don't have any issues with my battery draining.

Mine is awful. I'm wondering what the problem is.

Serial number starts with C39.

Mine is also awful and has C39. I'm going to calibrate the battery one last time and if that doesn't work take a trip to the Apple store.

My post in another thread:
I took my phone to an Apple store a few days ago and found out that along with several apps (such as Google Voice, lol) crashing, the entire system was crashing. It goes unnoticed, but it constantly crashed and restarted, killing my battery.

They wiped my phone clean and and reloaded the system and I now have pretty much everything on without any issues. It really had nothing to do with usage.

I'm coming home (9-10PM) with over 60-70% of battery life. I haven't had any issues. And I use my iPhone hard. It gets so boring at work that I'm always on fb, youtube, netflix, on tapatalk, and talking to Siri because I have nothing better to do. I have every option ON except bluetooth. Awesome battery life. :D

Ah yes and I'm texting 24/7.

whats your serial first 3 digits...and did you setup icloud/find my iphone?

I honestly think its iOS 5 but some people are are less affected due to certain settings...but there is a drain issue.

Mines C39. It's odd. Most of you guys with the same serial are having battery issues. And yes, my iCloud is active and so is my Find My iPhone. I have 3 email accts on PUSH. I'm confused. What I did when I got the 4S about a week ago was I didn't charge it the first time I opened the phone. I had it die out watching Netflix. And it's funny, I got the phone at 28% out of the box. This was around 1PM. I didn't die until 12AM or something after constant video streaming.

sounds like you got lucky. I am barely getting 5-6 hrs of use, sometimes even less...its been frustrating but I am guessing I have some setting or background process running. I have done all the stuff people mention and no change.

I am waiting for a fix, I bet its related to icloud first time implementation and some process hanging and draining battery.

Don't know. What backgrounds? I'm sure I have the same if not more running. I think it's a bug with iOS 5. I noticed a little change in battery life when I upgraded to the 5 in my i4. Do you leave bluetooth on? I never ever leave it on if I'm not using it. Same w/ wifi. I think disabling Siri also saves battery life. I haven't done it though so I couldn't tell you. But then what's the point? Hopefully you fix the issue. I'm sure Apple will replace it for free. When they have the phones to give.

I had read a bunch of these Battery issue threads before getting my 4s and was a little concerned. I seem to be one of the fortunate ones who (so far) are not having problems. Generally on my IPhone 3GS I cold comfortable get throu the work day and often well into the evening depending on usage.

I bought my 4S yesterday and charged it overnight. Today was my first day of usage starting at around 9 a.m. It is now around 1:30 a.m. The following day and I am showing 17% battery on what I consider to be a decent day of usage (particularly since I have wanted to use my new toy). My usage stats are:

Usage: 3 hours, 45 minutes
Standby: 15 hours, 41 minutes.

Now, I am not a power user by any means so maybe this is not that much use but I feel like I have gotten a healthy dose out of my IPhone today.
