This isn't a new piece of information, but Digitimes reiterates a previous claim that Pegatron will begin shipping the iPhone 5 in September.
Pegatron Technology has landed orders for 10 million units of iPhone 5 to become the second ODM of the smartphone. Shipments will start in September, according to industry sources.
The most recent rumors have suggested that Apple will not be launching the iPhone 5 until October, though they will presumably have to start ramping production prior to that date.

If we throw out enough dates and news about the next iPhone, one of them is bound to be right...

I would not be surprised if this is Apple's doing. Purposely sending out tons of misinformation to confuse everyone.

Yep, I've thought from the start that they've changed their strategy due to last years unprecedented leak/breach of security with iPhone 4.

The rumors help inspire imagination and lust, we're all going to drool over whatever "it" is that's next. It's the best hanheld computer you can buy. That's all there is to it.

I remember lusting after an Apple eMate 300.

You already know what it's going to be.

Thinner by a magical percentage.
Faster by an undeniable comparison.
Longer lasting than the Energizer Bunny on Viagra.
And sexier than Halle Berry wrapped in transparent aluminum.

September for USA.
October for the rest of the world.

There has to be something HUGE in terms of hardware that made Apple wait extra 3-4 months while Android is having a field day out there. Is it the 2nd gen LTE chips? Maybe a 4.5 inch OLED screen? Or some new breakthrough we don't know about?

Or they wan't to kill off iPod Touch and cut some corners to produce a profitable iPhone for $300 with NO contract. Hey the verizon iPhone 4 only costs $170 to make, while iPod Touch costs around $140. So they make marginal profit on iPod Touch, and huge profit on iPhone, maybe by simplifying their production line, they can make a reasonable profit on an unlocked iPhone for $300.

Well, all I know is Apple would not delay the iPhone (their flagship product), just because they did not get the software or hardware designed in time, or some other lame excuse.

The reason Apple waited this long to release their next iPhone was to have it sell even better during the holiday season

I like this theory that Apple is intentionally leaking out mixed and conflicting data to throw everyone off. It's a brilliant move.

I'd have to disagree. If you look at the iPad, the supply JUST caught up with the demand. Just in time for back to school and the holiday season. If they release an iPhone in late September, or later, they miss back to school, and they have EXTREME shortages for holiday season, and when demand catches up, no one cares, because January-June are not the best shopping season, plus people are getting more educated about when the new iPhone is coming out, so most people will wait for the next iPhone. I'd say iPad has the best release time frame.

Shipments starting in September isn't incompatible with an early October release; if Apple are going for a simultaneous release in lots of worldwide territories as usual they're going to need a hell of a lot of stock so it'll need a few weeks of ramping up deliveries before they actually start selling them to avoid disappointment and potential lost sales.

Or the delay might just have been due to a natural disaster of some sort in a country that supplies many smartphone components to the world.

I agree. The best way to keep us guessing is to throw tons of misinformation out there.

Love it how Apple keeps information secret. If some source would be telling…

Apple discontinues smartphone development
…this prediction would be as "true" as any of the recent rumors. There isn't ANY official or inofficial evidence of the opposite, is it?
