A shame that both WM and SAMs only have 16gb models, or I might try this. AT&T has well and thoroughly hosed my preorder, so I'm looking at other options.

AT&T botched my order as well..... Just went to walmart and grabbed my reservation card. She did not ask for my phone number so I am sure they wont be calling... She said the wireless booth opens for 9 so i am just planning on showing up around then

what he said was true. I saw the corporate memo re the lauch. a wmt employee showed me...except you dont have to be there at 8am. AS LONG AS you have your name on the list, you will get it. it goes in order of who came first.

the rep also told me i can call them on the 20th to double check as well but they will not call anyone sooner than the 21st

I don't know, I really wouldn't trust Walmart to hold a device for you. If someone showed up without a ticket but credit card in hand, I'm guessing the walmart employee would sell it to them.

I'm at WMT right now, they're tellin me they don't even know how many they're going to get, if any at all. Associate just said she would call me if it came in. Might be stuck waitin for a phone call that never comes while other are just strolling into appl stores and picking them up

So the lady comes back with a paper from corporate and shows it to me. Says WMT is getting phones via FedEx on the 19th. So I can call them after that to check. F it I'll risk the $50 bucks

At least in Cali Walmart charges tax on discounted price so you save at least about $30 on 16 GB.

Your $50 isn't at risk, you get it back ... it's not a non-refundable deposit, you know?

They don't charge the tax on the fully unsubsidized price of the phone in CA at Walmart? That is pretty awesome actually.

thats not fair and probably against policy...whats the point of me paying $25 for a reservation card IF someone can show up without a reservation and buy the phone?

thats the whole point of the reservation...

it says on the back they will hold your phone for 10 days

Walmart isn't the best at procedures like this. Best Buy, yes, Walmart, no. Some people were even saying they had to show Walmart employees about the reservation procedure because they didn't know. So what are your chances that an employee working Friday morning isn't aware or doesn't care enough or what not and goes ahead and sells in stock items without reservations?

from my experience and what I have seen at walmart is that they will take say 100 preorders....get 3 phones, and the first 3 with preorders who show up get them.

since they are open 24/7, there will be people there well before 8am

ah *****, ok ok, ill be there at 8am when the booth opens. thanks

The only big box store I would pre order from is best buy. In fact, if you got there 15 minutes before they opened you would have been first at most best buys. The first 64gb ATT Black iphone that my local best buy gets is mine.

I think it depends on the store. The reps at the store that i pre-ordered mine from all seemed to know everything. Even when I called an double checked this morning. But I can see what you mean if the store isn't very knowledgeable.

Best Buy did the same crap last year. Took 100 pre-orders, got 3 phones and gave them to the order that people showed up on launch day (not the order they pre-ordered).

Good luck with that one too.

I used to work at this Best Buy and know the people there. They assured me they are doing it first come first serve based on pre-orders.
