Apple needs to release a $500 Phone form the Masses .. Apple will destroy Android if they make entry level ios phones.

People dont switch to ios because there is no midrange iphone

I'm actually surprised 47% think iOS is a better user experience after the secret throttling. Along with the brain dead Siri, dysfunctional Apple Maps, lag after every iOS update, etc. maybe it's a typo and they dropped the negative sign from -47%.

1-Secret throttling is better than secret tracking and recording
2-Siri is brain dead, but you can install other digital assistants and many don't see it as a necessary thing.
3-Apple Maps sucks, you can install Google Maps or any other maps
4-Maybe lag after iOS updates, but who says Android doesn't lag or will even get an upgrade in the first place.

It's subjective. Users experience is 100% subjective. Some like vanilla, some prefer chocolate, others prefer strawberry.

Yes my impression is that those who like to tinker and tweak and got the "know-how" might prefer the Android more open approach. But I am going to assume that the majority of people who still don't know what two-factor authentication is are more happy dealing with the simpler trouble free safer wall-gardened iOS.

its like saying some people prefer Linux of Windows... sure, but 30% of people!?

They did get more expensive. The last iPhone I bought, the 5S, was 720$ CAD when it launched. The iPhone 8 is 930$ CAD, so the price of the latest model of iPhone has gone up 210$.
The price hasn't increased in the US. Looking at CAD vs USD over the past 5 years, the CAD has declined in value relative to the USD. I know there's also inflation with USD but not nearly as much as that difference.

Well regardless of cause, at the end of it all its still too much money to be spending on a fancy rectangle when there are other fancy rectangles that do the same job for half the cost.

Apple’s UI is far better than Google’s and hopefully the maps will be better than Google’s soon too. Now if they fix Siri or not is the real question...the index Siri uses is terrible, in Des Moines there are restaurants that have been in business for 20 years and that are quite popular that Siri is clueless about and so she decides that “Woody’s Smokeshack” is in Boston and suggests that I drive there when I ask for navigation. Oh, she also needs to learn to sort search results in ascending order by distance, google has NEVER had an issue with that.

Yeah, that’s pretty bad lol! Honestly I don’t use Siri much. Even though I’ve been an iPhone user since the beginning, I’m so used to just doing everything manually. I was very excited about the 4S because of Siri but the novelty wore off really quickly. I ask Siri something once in a while but honestly I would be indifferent if she didn’t exist.

I don’t have an Alexa product but I have tried Google’s assistant app and I must say it rarely ever makes a mistake processing my speech input. Very fast as well just like all of Google’s search products. I have zero experience with Bixby.

I do use Siri a fair bit these days. Maybe it does suck compared to other alternatives but it does what I need it to do well enough.

That was my opinion until it randomly stopped being able to play my local music. I literally have a playlist called "Led Zeppelin Good," I say "play Led Zeppelin Good," it hears all the words correctly, then it says "Hmm, I'm having trouble playing that." Happens every time with every playlist. WTF is this trash. Seriously I wish I had iOS 7 or 6 again cause it used to work fine.

Another inconvenience is that I can't tell it to play music on YouTube. It says "here's what I found" then does nothing, or worse the results randomly go away like it's some glitch. I'm guessing the Android copy of Siri can do that. It's tempting.

Yeah, one limitation of Siri is that it really on plays well with Apple’s own apps and services. I have tried moving back to stock apps in the past for this but it wasn’t worth giving up the extra features of third party apps.

Well I (deliberately) don't have the YouTube app, but I was hoping it'd open a Safari page with that video playing.

So I was at work one day and an app I needed forced me to do an update to use. So I did it and then got the dreaded 2-factor code request. No one was home to give me the code. So I had to drive 30 minutes home, update my app and then 30 minutes back to work. On the way home that day I just stopped. Was so tired of that crap from Apple.

So you were pissed off that Apple was taking proactive steps to ensure the security of your account?

Um, ok.

Yes. There is no reason to have 2 layer authentication for me to update and app I already have installed. New purchase sure, but an update of something I already "purchased" (it is a free app) is not needed.

2FA does not kick in unless you are logged out of your apple id. There is no way you will get a 2FA request for installing an app. Unless there was something else going on, like the phone is on a family plan or something like that. I have never, been prompted for 2FA to install an app. And that begs the question, why wasn't 2FA requests sent to the phone you were on, or an alternate email id.

This is actually not true. Macs and Macbooks have a terrible repair rate, and much of that is due to poor design. You should have a look at Louis Rossman's videos. Apple is certainly no angel among manufacturers.
A few models have higher repair rates than they used to. That has nothing to do with Apple's reputation among all PC makers in the industry. They're still regarded as the gold standard for consumer and enterprise.

I may have been logged out. I don't live my daily life inside the Apple ecosystem so it may have logged me out at some point.

No clue. It has always popped the code up on my iMac.

I have never been logged out of my apple id since I put 2fa on. But if I did, I could retrieve the code from an alternate email address.

More people switched to Android than people switched to iOS for “better customer service”?!?! What customer service does Android even have???

I am amused at the better customer service and faster software updates reasons for leaving iOS to Android.

@CerebralX - the comparison is correct; no other way here.

Wait, there are people who switch to Android for better customer service and faster software updates?!

I can see why people are puzzled, but if you think about it, this actually makes some sense.

Apple has a deserved reputation for excellent customer service, but with over a billion iOS devices sold, some percentage of users are inevitably going to have a "bad" customer service experience and will use that bad experience as an excuse to try a competing platform.

Similarly, the software updates reason does make some sense. Google and Android in recent years has decoupled all the core system applications and many of the core system services from the operating system update process. Android devices receive updates to these applications all the time, while iOS users have to wait for an OS release to get application updates.
