Incorrect. Both the Leon ST and Golf Variant/Sportwagon are nearly identical cars. Based on VW's MQB platform with nearly identical wheelbases.
I know they are similar. But they are not the same car. That's why VW has different brands to cater for different audiences.

I'm going to be the odd ball out in this thread (though aren't I always?). I recently traded my small SUV for a Dodge Caravan. The reason I bought it was to haul my wheels - a TerraTrike Rover Tandem Recumbent Trike. It's nine and a half feet long. The rear wheel sits against the front between the seats and the boom just clears the lift gate. It wouldn't come close to fitting in any SUV and it would be hanging out of all the truck beds, not to mention be exposed to the elements (and theft - the bike cost more than the van!).

Great, only thing is I am not hauling one of those.

Over the past 50 years I've had 3 SUVs and 2 pickups plus several cars of different types. Right now I'm driving a RAM pickup and loving it. I've enjoyed all 3 of those vehicles. Each one had the features I needed at the time. My RAM is a 4x4, sadly I don't use the 4x4 system all that often; however, when I do I'm very happy I have it.

Yeah. I am thinking of going a Jeep route.
It is an SUV and has good off road capability. I don't think I'd be having driving a pick up and especially if I don't use the bed often.

There are some pretty nice trucks out there and SUVs.
I want something a big bigger and that does a better job at hauling minor weekend odds and ends.
Occasionally maybe no more than between 1-3 times a year a pick up will be useful but I think it is great off road and various weather conditions.

Just want some feedback from owners out there that can provide feedback on the two and maybe it might make my decision a but easier.
I have both and use them both regularly. TBH it all depends on what you are going to be using it for most of the time.
I see much better incentives on pickups over SUVs. I bought a new pickup last year, with a huge discount, and love it.
There are better incentives and that's why I just got a new truck.
Plus I had a brand new F-150 to myself for three weeks while my company SUV was being repaired from a deer using it to commit suicide.
I've never seen it worded like that.

That's a nice looking truck.

Stout SUV with a tow setup, trailer for $15-20 day, no mileage fees. :)

When we cleared out some demolition and wreckage last year, I grabbed a flatbed from a local rental place, like a 15' flatbed, was $14.99 a day, no additional fees.

Like a local car rental place or like Home Depot?

Some years back I needed to tow a heavy trailer - perhaps 7000 pounds. The chain rental places didn't have anything rated to tow that much. A local family owned place did. I rented a heavy duty diesel pickup. Don't remember the cost - maybe $60 or $80? The rental came with 100 free miles - I used 98.

If you need a real work truck, check with a tool rental shop like United Rentals.

This was an indie trailer/tool rental place, really nice folks that live in our area, but Home Depot, Lowes, etc., have them HD has like a "Lawn Trailer", that I want to say is 3x5 or 3x7, for $20 a day. they also have discounts for weekly rentals if it's a slightly longer project.

Yep. Used those with a friend/neighbors truck years ago when I wanted to move my own supplies from the store. Now I just order it in and it's usually "free" since there's a distribution center near us.

I plan to get a 4runner honestly. It can go anywhere on or off-road I want it too, plenty of room for people inside and cargo. And can tow a trailer if I need something larger than it's capacity. Easy to park and drive around town as well. I've owned two full size trucks and won't do it again.
