I plan to get a 4runner honestly. It can go anywhere on or off-road I want it too, plenty of room for people inside and cargo. And can tow a trailer if I need something larger than it's capacity. Easy to park and drive around town as well. I've owned two full size trucks and won't do it again.
I have one and it's perfect. It's overkill for where I live now but I won't get rid of it.

What the problem with fullsize trucks. Maybe that why the discounts are so heavy on them and incentives.

Is it wrong I laughed at that a little __too__ much? :D

Yeah... one of the kin might hear ya and fix yer wagon on the way home tonight... happened to a friend driving her newly repaired deer hit vehicle back home, talking on the phone about how good thing that was over, nice to have her SUV back, and blam, the next depressed thing with antlers rose up out of a gully and hit the passenger side window. About a quarter mile from original incident. Penalty for distracted driving, or just revenge?! You decide...

On the thread topic, I'd probably get the SUV if I were mostly just hauling gear around that wouldn't fit in a toolbox. Pickups are great for hauling firewood, brush, garden soil amendments (ahem: composted manure, free from a neighbor) or any other stuff that can make a mess of an SUV's interior.

I've been close to hitting a deer when driving on back country roads up state. To be fair, it was limping. I was nice enough to slow down quickly and pull to the side, and yell at it to get off the road. It's the inner westcoast *******. Probably 99 or 00. Once saw a garbage truck sideswipe the hell of a deer and keep going just out of the city limits of Livermore. Either the drivers didn't notice or didn't care. Had to call CHP for that one.

Too damn hard to park and drive on narrow highways with barrier walls. Plus the gas mileage....13-14 mpg I got at that time.

I found the F150 not a lot of fun on narrow roads, or in crowded parking lots. I’m sure that a person can get used to it to a point, if they find it worth the trade off.
Out in the country where I live, except for some of the narrower roads, not too much of a problem.

But I was definitely ready to turn that truck back in once my SUV was repaired.

There are some pretty nice trucks out there and SUVs.
I want something a big bigger and that does a better job at hauling minor weekend odds and ends.
Occasionally maybe no more than between 1-3 times a year a pick up will be useful but I think it is great off road and various weather conditions.

Just want some feedback from owners out there that can provide feedback on the two and maybe it might make my decision a but easier.
When I could no longer lift heavy items, I decided I did not need a truck, besides I can rent a local U Haul trailer for something like $16 a day for the few times I need a truck size bed, I rent. We have a trailer hitch on our Highlander which holds 7 people if needed. Besides truck milage on full size trucks + 4 wheel drive + king or extended cab have sucky gas milage.

For camping or kayaking? Truck. I am struggling to fit four kayaks in an SUV. Decided to rent a Uhaul to make life a lot easier on us.

For hauling nonmotorized toys like kayaks, bicycles, etc, Yakima and Thule make some pretty great products. But if you go the rooftop route, beware of parking garages!

I have a roof rack and can get three onto the rack. The forth will not fit, forcing us to put it inside the vehicle. Fortunately it's two adults and two kids, so we can all fit in the car, but it's very tight. I have seen four in the bed of a truck. Or I could do a bed rack and put two in the bed, and two on the rack.

When we go camping a truck also seems to be a better solution. Our friends use the tailgate of the truck to hold water jugs or as a table to prepare food. Works pretty good. I like the idea of not having to open an close the doors to our SUV all the time. Keeps the dust out of the cabin.

Raptor is my thing but charging too much for it.

Really like the Raptor. Thought about buying used, but then after watching all those videos of people jumping their Raptors I am hesitant. Chances of buying a Raptor in good condition from a little old lady are slim at best.

I am waiting to see what the Ford Ranger Raptor is going to look like in person. I hear its coming soon.
[doublepost=1531579724][/doublepost]In defense of SUVs' we have had several. I have also had several Toyota Trucks and a few Nissans mixed in. We currently have a Nissan Pathfinder. It has been a great vehicle. No issues at all.

I did buy a new Ford F150 four door well equiped with a nice v8. At the time my wife was still working and she hated trying to park the vehicle at work. I traded it in six months later. For me it was a great truck. I am 6'4", and it was very comfortable.
