It is possible. If you are on IUP it more possible than if not. With that said, ask and be cordial.
I will tell you this, I have had some morons come up to me and ask for just this. Usually I did a face to face with the manager. If the customer was simply rude remember one thing, you only hear one side of the conversation when they talk into their walkie. It's the other side that is asking 1 or 2 questions that will determine your fate.
If the customer was polite, knew exactly what they wanted I would forego the walkie and go to bat for the customer and discuss it face to face with the manager. Otherwise, walkie and maybe a quick stop in the back for a drink of water and come out with the bad news (ABS style)

My experience in the Boston, MA (USA) stores is that they will often make exceptions after fourteen days, sometimes long after. When I’ve had a reasonable reason for the change (phone too big or too small, memory too small) they’ve made exceptions. It helps to ask nicely, too, because they’re under no obligation to do so.

After the 14 days you not liking the size or color still isn’t a “reasonable” reason. That’s what the 14 day period is for to begin with.

It’s at the discretion of the manager. I’ve done exchanges past 14 days. Once I changed from AT&T to Verizon and Verizon won’t accept the unlocked AT&T IMEI #. Second time was several years ago when the product red phone was released.

That doesn’t make sense. If you have an unlocked iPhone they can’t deny an IMEI. Unlocked is unlocked

I confirmed it with Apple customer service. Official 14 day return exchange period. Managers are allowed to give approval up to 30 days max. Customer service said it’s easier to do when you have purchased outright. not entirely sure how it would fly if you financed it

Clearly that store made exceptions for that member returning a Phone past the 14 days, Who cares what ‘reasonable’ really means why the customer returned the phone if the lead manager made the exception to the rule. Case in point.

I was able to get my local store to let me swap a launch day Space Gray for a Silver today, even though I was 10 days outside of my return period. It probably helped that today was the first day the store had gotten stock in over a week, so I couldn’t have changed colors unless I was willing to go without a phone. I was polite when making the request and made it clear I understood if they couldn’t allow the swap since I was out of the return period. When he agreed to allow the swap, the manager did mention the fact I had bought a sim free model outright initially did make it easier for them to accommodate it.

YMMV but it is possible. Best advice is to be calm and polite when asking.

What motivated you to want to get the silver over your space gray after almost a month

I didn’t see the silver in person until I went to trade in my and my wife’s old iPhones about 10 days after we got our 11 Pros. I was really taken with it though and wanted to switch. My store didn’t get any stock (that I saw on Apple’s website anyway) until yesterday. I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask so I reserved a silver for pickup and they were nice enough to let me swap.

I went to the Apple store (NYC) today trying to exchange my launch day Pro Max for a Pro, they were very nice but unfortunately stated they couldn't do it because it was purchased via the Apple Payment Plan.

She told me if I purchased it outright, it would be no problem and they would be able to do the swap.

Definitely helps if you purchased it without any of the payment programs.

Anyone trying to exchange a device after 14 days. Seems like people trying to take advantage of Apple's generous return policies.
I see what you’re saying to a degree. There are worse offenders. Better to exchange than to return. I‘m sure Apple accounts for these variables and uses these phones for their replacement/refurb inventories. Last time I looked at the stock their market cap is 1.07 TRILLION. That Fact is just thrown in there for fun and not useful for your comment. For those who want to exchange just want to be completely happy with their 1350$ purchase.

I see your new here. Let me clue you in on something, every year these people buy and return device after device after device looking for what they think is a perfect flawless device. If you look hard enough, you'll find a flaw in your device. Some of these people just can't be pleased. I used to be one of them, trust me, the search for the perfect device is fruitless and will leave you unfulfilled. I've learned to just enjoy my device and realized my joy doesn't come from a phone. My phone is a tool that I use daily, it doesn't give me peace and joy. When people realize this they will be much better off (with Apple and life in general).

It drives me so insane too with those type of people. There was a thread last year with a guy that exchanged over 16 Xs Max's because he found something wrong with every single one, he literally opened back to back boxes at the Apple Store looking for that perfect one. It's sickening.

And if anyone is trying to exchange their new phones after 14 days just because of the color, they're part of the problem.

Yep, I remember that guy.

I was wondering if there was any possibility of returning the 11 Pro Max Midnight Green for a Silver one, even though I'am passed the 14 days? I just don't like how the midnight green looks, its just too dark, I prefer the Gold or the Silver one.

So...any luck?

I traded my green for silver within the 14 days. But the store representative said that the green was still in very high demand so because of that I would say it’s possible. He said they didn’t have any, in fact. Give it a try.

Just did it today for a launch day phone. No issue at all. iPhone 11 Pro was paid in full. In fact they let me keep the fast charger as well. Recieved a new phone in the box not a genius swap. YMMV. Also I am an Apple Business user so not sure if that helped !

I exchanged as well. No issues at all. Swapped my MG for the SG and I’m very happy 😊. btw I double checked all the colors while I was there. The silver was cloudy, the gold looked like last years but with the matte of course(I would have liked to see a gold closer to the stainless steel band on that one), and the green in Apple store lighting looked like vomit. Space gray is the Only doable for me. Lol

Yay! I have the Space Grey myself and absolutely love it. It really matches with my Macbook Pros Space Grey (iPhone Pro and MacBook Pro match, perfect) and just feels like this time around they got the SG colouring right. Plus, the black camera bump will blend in very well with pretty much any case you put on it.

I myself too went to the store to check out all the colours again today after this thread, the Midnight Green has still caught my eye from Youtube videos showing it off nicely, but ultimately after comparing, I realise I still prefer SG overall all around and will like it well into the future/not grow tired of it. Plus, if I did an exchange, besides going through the stress of the 14day period ask, it would be another icloud backup restore of about 80GB, etc

So I will definitely keep my Space Grey. I still like the base colour itself of the Midnight Green though and would most probably have gone for it if I was the type to use the phone naked or put it in a clear case
