I will keep using this SwiftKey version until iOS updates render it unusable or Microsoft add a toggle to hide it, whichever comes first.

They left SwiftKey for dead just a few months ago, and that didn't bother me as long as iOS didn't break it.

I won't be updated out because I don't have automatic updates on. I vet every update, and if something breaks or annoys me, I have mechanisms to archive the last "tolerable" version, signed using my Apple ID.
Awesome that you have that in place, so you can enjoy and use it as you like!

It's actually working better than ever. Unfortunately Apple doesn't support swipe/prediction in my language and SwiftKey does. It can also do 2 languages at the same time. The bing thing is a nice addition.

Great to see it return to App Store, and especially get updated with these kind of useful features.

So is this a rehashed version of the Apple keyboard or is it truly a 3rd party alternative? I'm new to iOS and was used to real 3rd party keyboards on Android but I've heard that's not how things work in Apple's sandbox...

Creating even more of a disconnect between the real person and their written word. Still, maybe this could be incorporated into forums so there will be fewer virulent flame wars? Although given their reputation I can see it creating even more vitriolic ones…
Mindthink, it's a hell of a drug....

Even the English prediction and correction is very poor.
Odd… after the announcement SwiftKey would be discontinued, I switched to the stock keyboard. It supports bilingual Dutch/English on the same layout… my only gripe is that autocorrect is sometimes a bit overzealous when trying to use dialect or expressions it does not know about… more backtracking needed compared to SwiftKey but not bad overall…

One day having an iPhone won’t be cool anymore.
People dismissing AI remind me a lot of the people who said the touch UI was a gimmick and that any serious phone needed a physical keyboard. Microsoft completely blew it on mobile. They aren't going to blow it on AI.

I think the company whose product renders the iPhone uncool is the company that creates a conversational AI-powered UI. Not only can I interact with my device through touch, but I can now speak with it in a natural, conversational way. Unless Apple is doing some brilliant R&D deep in an air gapped bunker somewhere, they appear to be woefully behind at this point.

Microsoft is moving at light speed with their AI, already encroaching on other platform's territory, while Apple is giving all they got to move Siri to the dynamic island in time for iOS17.
Moving at light speed, meaning bundling it into everything, regardless if it might be actually useful or just a gimmick for specific usecase?

Reminds me of crypto craze “blockchain for dentists, blockchain for farmers…etc” no one even stopped to ask “do those professions really need their own blockchain”? Same with this. I expect some fields to benefit from large language models, for others it will be pointless.

No, it’s the full version. There are some limitations, such as not being used for password entry, but otherwise.

Wow, that is really interesting! I had no idea that Swiftkey and Bing were working together to create a chatbot integration. It sounds like this could be a great way for people to save time and get more efficient with their communication. I'm looking forward to learning more about this partnership.
It's no "partnership" - microsoft blught swiftkey for 250 million in 2016

I just tried out swiftkey for the first time. It's basically the bing chatGPT latest version integrated in the keyboard with the ability to pop out and ask questions. Pretty powerful stuff!

Yeah, cool.
Why use six words when 13 will do.
No more abbreviations.
SMH.......
chatbotted "I am doubtful that this innovation will catch on"
///sark off
See?

"Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick"

"what will you do with all that time you save kevin?

"see world"

"okay, kevin are you saying 'see the world' or 'sea world'?"

Apple’s goal is rarely to be first for first sake. Microsoft has much less to lose and more to gain. Also remember Apple’s is all on device. Microsoft and Google process everything you type on their servers so if enabled make sure to not type anything you’d be worried about a rogue employee or showing up a hacker leak.

How about Apple at least be last on simultaneous multilingual?

Apple isn’t even trying anymore.

Most people, that I know, that write on iPhone in multiple languages explain how pathetic it is.

Switched to macOS last year. Multilingual spellcheck is embarrassingly bad in so many stock apps.

Feels like nobody at Apple has really used their OSes with multiple languages.

Siri needs a serious overhaul. Built from scratch kind of overhaul.

It’s so inconsistent, but they’ve made zero meaningful progress for 10 years.

Apple will likely port iMessage to Linux before they ever fix Siri.

The Siri division at Apple is as serious as the Privacy division at Facebook.

The people on the inside just laugh and laugh at the negative comments. They know. Brainless software QA is now part of the Apple brand (tm).

Crappy Siri? They’re still buying.
Crappy Apple News? They’re still buying.
Crappy autocorrect? They’re still buying.

It does need to be overhauled. However, when Apple dumbed it down and turned off learned behaviors, it has been drowning ever since. Apple doesn’t want to cross the line Google, Microsoft, Meta and Amazon have all crossed for their assistants to work in their current forms; which is recording, tracking, storing and scanning everything on your devices. (Amazon and Meta go MUCH further than the other two in obtaining the essence of you… which is creepy).
I am okay with Apple doing that if Apple doesn't sell my data to anyone.

Umm…

The most recent SwiftKey iOS update from yesterday/today seems to have adjusted the "default" option to be more like the stock iOS keyboard in terms of the "feel" of the keyboard. It's hard to explain but it's a big improvement for me.
