The stock Apple keyboard and I have trained each other so well that I'm not going to bother starting over with a new solution. I'm happy with the improvement brought with word selector in iOS8 even if it's just a simple one.

That said the data mining/key logging thing doesn't worry me too much, aside from the reason mentioned above. Sure it's possible, and that's precisely why Apple mandates that "full access" permission requirement - rightly so IMO. But any of these companies that have developed input technologies and have a reputation would be sunk if they were ever caught doing it. It would be foolish to try.

But caution and skepticism is definitely a good thing; obviously granting access to a keyboard from the Prince of Nigeria would be ill advised.

If I understand correctly, the point you are trying to make is that Apple can disclose information on their servers due to a legal request.

You make a fair point.

BUT:
* Apple is not keylogging everything I type and storing it on an external server that I know nothing about.
* Apple only has access to what is backed up on their servers, so if you do not use their backup, it is not there.
* Apple (as of iOS8) can NO LONGER provide the government with the encryption key of your physical device according to their new privacy policy of a few days ago. (P.S. to Government: I have nothing interesting, I just find your monitoring creepy.)

Point taken. You have more features. But I don't need cloud sync (see above for reasons I do NOT want my data on the cloud), and I don't need backup, nor the ability to have new languages. Without these 'abilities' that I do not need, I do not need to allow you to log everything I type.

At this point I think we just need to agree to disagree. Some people don't mind you collecting everything they type. Personally I find that amazing.

You would be right, except for the fact that none of your data leaves your device unless you opt-into SwiftKey Cloud for encrypted backup and sync. See our privacy policy: http://swiftkey.com/en/privacy/ and what full access is: https://iossupport.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/articles/201466641-Why-does-SwiftKey-need-Full-Access-

I totally understand you, I too need to have complete control over my data when using any app, not just a keyboard. And that's exactly how we've build SwiftKey - it's your data and you decide where it goes. Want sync? Enable SwiftKey Cloud. Don't want your data to ever leave your phone? Don't enable SwiftKey Cloud. You decide, we just provide the tools for you to handle your typing data :)

I like it. "Flow"-style keyboards were a feature I was always curious about, and I can see their appeal. It's fun and pretty amazing most of the time, as if the phone is able to read your mind. Initially I didn't feel as if it was any less effort or faster than using the stock keyboard, but after a day of using the SwiftKey keyboard I went back to the stock keyboard and immediately felt the difference. Tapping out each character felt like a chore compared to simply tracing to the keys. I occasionally have moments where it chooses the wrong words, but it's likely due to sloppy tracing or usage of an unusual word; in those cases, it's easy to just tap out that one word and then keep "flowing."

The only downsides at this point are what others have said, and that I'm sure the SwiftKey team is aware of: that the "flow" functionality doesn't work on iPads (supposedly due to some memory limitations; Swype's "flow" apparently does work with iPads), and that the keyboard fades in over text in the Messages app, rather than bumping the bottom text upward. I'll look forward to those fixes; in the mean time, I'm happy to keep using the keyboard. Thank you to the SwiftKey team (and czechboy0) for their work on bringing this keyboard to iOS!

Swift kinda sucks, maybe its just me.
What did you expect? It's just a ported android app made initially by android devs (they aren't that good) for android users (they're not too picky and don't know what quality is).
;)
