No need to do that. If you always want Swiftkey to be the first keyboard to be used then go into Settings>General>Keyboard>Keyboards. Then hit Edit and change the ordering of keyboards. I actually removed the default keyboard and just have Swiftkey and Emoji keyboards enabled.

Thanks!

Which keyboards for example?
Personally, I find Kii Keyboard to be the best Android keyboard next to the stock Google keyboard.

As an Android user, SwiftKey sucks. There are better, less source hogging options out there. Hopefully they also make the switch to iOS.

Any other tips?
Quite a few already created an iOS8 app see also here and here.

Unfortunately Kii Keyboard isn't available on iOS8 (yet). I also couldn't find any info on plans that they will be soon.

I'm waiting on the switch of an existing iOS7 swype app called 'Path Input' to switch to an iOS8 keyboard. That one works great already on my iPhone. Unfortunately not much info on their blogspot website and twitter account other then that they will create one.

Tried it, hated it. Why ?

For the same reason that I hate every Android phone keyboards : when you press a key on iOS, a bigger key at the top becomes part of the key you pressed, while on Android it's a completely separate bigger key that appears. It just doesn't feel ergonomic to me, and I'm at the point where I suspect Apple has a patent on it.

Basically, for this sole reason, Apple has designed the only touch keyboard in history that I can stand.

I tried it and initially absolutely hated it. I soon deleted it, and after another day, I figured I would give it another shot. I'm now absolutely in love with the keyboard. It's my new default keyboard. I have found that I'm more accurate in sending text messages using Swiftkey than using the default keyboard. I also feel that I type quicker (more so slide my finger) than acutally typing a word.

Bravo, Swiftkey!
