Well, sure, it was a great ad for Stephen Fry's voice. It told me very little about the actual app and showed about 1 second of use in the 1.5 minutes of time I spent watching it.

That kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

No, because an ad has to be interesting and memorable for any product to have a good success. Looking into the product comes later. This goes for most ads I think you'll find.

I like the idea. However, why do companies continue to believe everyone has or wants to log into FB or Google + all the time when using a third party app?

As a developer its more secure and you do not have to worry about handling/protecting a user database. it's super simple to add and manage, FB, TW and G+ does all the work.

Having a small Android tablet to play around with every so often, Swiftkey is a truly great keyboard. It's fast, responsive, and very flexible.

Having that option on my iPhone 5 is going a neat experience but I may wait till a few versions in as it's been a Android staple for a long time. iPhone 5c users will love the color themes and different styles offered by Swiftkey. Still I will give the default iOS 8 keyboard an honest try.

Used swift key from day one on android. Biggest thing I missed when switching two years ago - overdue but most welcome.

Okay so I have iOS 8... now how the hell do I get this keyboard? Is it not on the app store yet, or am I looking in the wrong place?

See above - you still have to install the app which is swift key keyboard, not swift key note, which is already there.

So in order for you to be able to use swiping input you have to enable full access for the keyboard under system settings. But when you do there's a popup from iOS that warns you these third party keyboards will be able to log our passwords/emails and such. Should we be concerned? =/

edit: SwiftKey seems to be the only one with a warning popup that tells us they might take our password/etc keystrokes. I installed Swype and it worked fine without any warnings.

Do we have to switch from the Apple keyboard to the Swiftkey keyboard by pressing the smiley face, then the globe EVERY TIME we want to use Swiftkey? If so...:(

Tried this keyboard and a few others today. They all suck. Not surprised in the least. This was always bound to be a worthless add on that fandroid forum whiner bloggers could pretend was freedom.

Is Swiftkey safe? Are they taking key strokes (credit card data, password, etc?)

They absolutely can be. Hence the huge warning. Hence why these things are stupid and do not belong on iOS in the first place.

Or they can be better for various others.

I have SwiftKey on my Android phone. I couldn't wait to try it on my iPad Mini and iPhone. My iPhone is a work phone and they are not approving iOS 8 yet. I have it on my iPad Mini and I must say that I am extremely disappointed in the iOS version of SwiftKey. It is a shadow of what it is on Android.

As an Android user, SwiftKey sucks. There are better, less source hogging options out there. Hopefully they also make the switch to iOS.

Which keyboards for example?

No, it is not safe. Over the course of half a decade it has prospered on android and developed in to what is probably the most popular third party keyboard because they steal your financial details and sell them to eastern European organised crime syndicates.

No need to do that. If you always want Swiftkey to be the first keyboard to be used then go into Settings>General>Keyboard>Keyboards. Then hit Edit and change the ordering of keyboards. I actually removed the default keyboard and just have Swiftkey and Emoji keyboards enabled.
