I fail to see how his story and how it ends up can help you.

You're debating whether returning to the 6s (or the coming ip7) over keeping the s7 edge.

Plenty of people have switched from iPhone to something else and plenty have done the reverse.

Only you can really decide what works best for you. Even if 99 out of 100 people post that scenario A worked for them, you might be the 1 person where scenario B is the better fit.
It won't benefit me at all, but I'd love to see how their story ends. Simple as that, dude.

No you don't understand that only because the phone is some months old, the features and hardware is not outdated. People switching their phones yearly because of stupid little gimmicks or the self implicated need of having the newest.
Yeah I'd wait till the new iPhone is released. But I'd get the 6s because it gets cheaper.

The main reason against buying an older model once the future model gets closer to release is the fact that the 6S isn't going to have the same performance once iOS 10 comes out. The older model is always sluggish in comparison. But if you want to stay on iOS 9 forever, then by all means buy the old model. That's how I see it anyway.

the new iPhone is probably going to have the same 2gb of ram. So the 6s plus should perform the same. for a while.

That's not how it works. There is more to performance than RAM. The 5S did not handle iOS 8 the same as the 6. Both have 1GB of RAM.

Provide proof please. I had a 5s on iOS 8 and 9 and I never noticed any difference compared to a 6 plus. the ram does make the biggest difference.
[doublepost=1465778723][/doublepost]And how do you know iOS 10 wont work the same? do you work for apple? if so provide facts please.

Here's a benchmark of the iPhone 5S vs iPhone 6 on iOS 8.

http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/compare/804641?baseline=800566

They both have the same 1GB of RAM but the iPhone 6 benchmarked higher.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but I figured I would link it.

Edit: here are some more benchmarks
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Apple-iPhone-5s_id7710/benchmarks

You could always sell the galaxy phone and buy a nearly new or maybe brand new 6s and still have an upgrade for the iPhone 7 if you want it.

Benchmarks really don't correlate well to actual use. Crunching video with Handbrake? Yes.

I highly doubt that one release away will put the 6s in the bin. Three years from now, it might be slowing down some.
I agree that benchmarks don't always correlate to actual usage. But the person I responded to was asking for proof that the iPhone 6 ran better than the iPhone 5S on iOS 8. There's really no way to provide proof of that other than benchmarks.

If the only thing you like the Samsung for is the camera, why not pick up a dedicated camera (mirrorless are portable and have a billion times better IQ and DR) and go with the phone you like the most. To me, the camera on the phone is just an extra and I can capture some "good enough for web" type photos but it will never compare with even an entry level mirrorless/DSLR.

Well I've been looking at the Olloclip Lens for the 6s to go with it. I don't have enough money saved up to go out and buy a camera quite yet.

Look into used on KEH.com or something similar, you can save a fortune and still get good gear. Remember, "old" does not really matter much in terms of cameras anymore. 12MP is still more than enough for prints. You could probably find a kit for $99 ..

I'll check it out right now, I LOVE the iPhone camera, I just love the angles that the galaxy provides. So I've been looking at a wide angle lens to snap on.

I love photography, I carry a D7100 with me frequently but I find the SE camera to be a nice stopgap when I don't want to carry it around on hikes.

I have seen refurb Nikon D3xxx series cameras for cheap on adorama and the like as well. My D7100 was a refurb, works perfectly. Anyways, just enjoy whatever you get. Push yourself and learn as much as you can. :)

Understanding Exposure is a great book btw.

Proof? Maybe you don't notice the fine things, but every single iPhone I've had has slowed down noticeably after updating to the following OS, and dramatically after the second. The animations get choppier, things start to take longer to happen (multi task comes up slower, etc). The proof of that can be seen in youtube videos (comparison's etc.), if you really want to try and locate the specifics.

Other than that, the benchmarks which @timeconsumer provided here also demonstrate the lower power which older devices have compared to newer ones. If the devices are running the same exact software, on different hardware, then by your opinion they should run exactly the same - but they don't. If you would like to say that old devices don't get slowed down quite as much because of equivalent RAM, then by that same thought process the iPhone 5 should be doing just fine on iOS 9 as well, but it's not. It can barely run iOS 8 (imo) even though it also has 1GB of RAM.

I don't need to work for apple to know simple cause and effect.

Awesome, I think it's going to be a great upgrade, especially if they bring out the Deep Blue color :D

So, I got the HTC 10 today, and after using it for a few hours I honestly don't like it as I had hoped. I will give it some more time, but I most likely will be moving back to the iPhone.

What exactly do you not like about it, android or something specific about the phone?

I wish I would've warned you about htc phones. I had the one m7 back in 2013 and it was really nice but clunky feeling and would heat up just being in my pocket. I think that company has the worst trouble making a good all around phone. They need to pay attention to how bulky and the weight of the phone like Apple does.

Going into day two is better so far with the phone. I will most likely hold onto it till the new iphone comes out if I can. If not, I'll pick up a used iphone till then. But it is snappy, and everything works. I question the muffled sound when on a phone call though.
