Just got my ultra clear.
Mine too was scratched in a few spots.
Edges are a bit sharp for my liking, and my case was deformed around the down volume button. Like others have mentioned, its cheap feeling

I really wanted to use this case, but with all the little flaws, i am going to have to return it for a refund. The data port and headphone plugs are awesome though. I wonder if they just sell those, how much would they be.

Also there is a gap between the case and the front glass which will fill up with lint and debris, a perfect recipe for scratching the back glass if you dont have a back glass protector.

Just emailed them for a refund. I also asked if they will sell me just the dataport and earphone jack plug. LOL

Just received my Ultra Clear Nude.

First impressions:

It's ok. Not too bad. Not that great. I was disappointed to see numerous hairline scratches though. The kind that is visible at certain angles/light conditions...you can't feel the scratches and it looks as if they are in between the plastic.

The website clearly states that all their "Ultra Clear cases have no lines or mold markings of any sort", but they are definitely there. Around the headphone jack, sleep/wake button, and vibrate/volume buttons.

Also, there are clearly visible watermarks on the back with the Ultra Clear because of the glass on the iPhone 4.

The headphone and data port plugs are good, very snug fit. I didn't put on the screen protector nor do I plan to.

At this point, I'm kind of 50/50 with this case. I guess I will have to use it for a week or two before I know whether I will continue using it or not.

I don't know if I am going to be a fan with this type of case. It feels like it is missing something. When you put the case on, it just feels like the case was cut in half and you are just using the bottom portion of it. The gap between the top glass and the plastic is kinda annoying, in terms of both feel and looks...it makes the case look cheap.

I have my free bumpers coming next Monday so I'll just decide then whether I want to keep this or not. I have a feeling I'll be using the bumpers (with the Waterfield Suede Jacket for bumpers) over these though.

Where do you guys go for refund on their site? I received my Ultra Clear. There are scratches on case and the volume area of case is deformed. Also the case isnt fitting fully against the back of iPhone on one corner - there is alot of play.

Definitely not satisfied with case - however my GF's pink Nude case is flawless. So the issues seem to be mainly with the Ultra clear?

I would rather get a refund/exchange for a Red case.

The reviews aren't so hot for this case, thus now I'm not either. It's a shame really because in terms of form, it's one of the best I've seen. If they add a soft touch finish to the case a la Incipio Feather, they'll get my order.

Nude with Zagg back protector on!

Signed up to get info on the Nude case so thought I'd contribute as my first post.

The good news, it does fit with a invisible shield type film on the back of the phone without shifting the button holes too far off where it would make them unusable.

The bad news, what I've been reading is true. My case came with some minor scuffs and towards the bottom front of the case, there are some sharp edges.

Anyway, I'm kind of a holster guy so this is just temporary until Seidio's Innocase comes out.

Oh yeah, one last thing, I tested the flash and the ultra black does not affect pictures.

Add me to the list of people that has received their Ultra black with scuffs and some kind of deformity near the volume control area.

No problem with the flash, at least not that I could tell. Taking off the case was PITA.

Finally some movement on this thing. It shows it landed in Anaheim, CA this morning at 1am. I guess it's possible it could make it to me today, but most likely tomorrow. It only has 15 miles to travel.

I just got the case, finally, ordered on the 7th. I have the Ultra Clear.

It's not as cheap a plastic as I thought it would be (in quality not price).

It fits really well.

Taking it off is very difficult, if not impossible, and I get really worried when I have to take it off, that I'll either scratch the iPhone or that I'll break the damn overpriced $20 piece of plastic.

I like SwitchEasy, this is the fourth case I have bought from them, but I should've passed on this one and waited for the Vulcan. While I like the feel of the iPhone 4 with the case (It adds virtually no bulk, makes the phone easier to hold, and eliminates the antenna problem for me).

I really can't figure out what it's for. $20 for what, impact protection? There isn't any. Scratch protection? Mine didn't come scratched out of the box but it scratches very easily, and I'm worried that it'll scratch the back of the iPhone itself, if not by simply being on it then while taking it off. In fact, as has been highlighted by others, the sides of the case does not even reach the very top (I'm not talking about covering the bezel, it doesn't even reach the top of the surface), so you have to be careful how you place it anywhere.

All in all I'm pretty disappointed with the case. Instead of providing some sort of sense of security, no matter how minimal, it makes one worry even more about their phone and the case.

I do like how it feels (somewhat, it's not the best feeling case or anything) and how it looks (it really is ultra clear), but it just is not worth the money in my opinion. I'm most likely going to return it once I get another case, either by Speck or by SwitchEasy if they come out with the Vulcan soon. I'm going to wait for tomorrow's press conference first though.

I must agree with most of the previous commenters. My UltraBlack case arrived today and had numerous light scratches on the back as well as sharp edges. In addition, the screen protector is borderline useless with a terrible rainbow effect. As the poster above me stated, I'm also not really sure what protection this case provides other than scratch resistance for the back. In summary, I'm returning mine and waiting for the Incipio Edge or the Incase Slider.

like what i commented on the other thread...

just recieved my Ultra Clear in the mail today and i agree it feels cheap and flimsy.

plastic edges are sharp and i even found plastic shavings sticking out of the corner around the headphone jack. i can feel the edges cutting into my hand when im holding it while going on a run. (yes i hold my phone when i run)
The bottom corners of the case (around the speakers) are REALLY SHARP if u dont plan on putting on the connector plug.

the case has minor hairline scratches right out the box. But i can understand that since its plastic after all and is meant to be scratched up eventually. Noticeable scratch/cut around the volume cut outs.

also i notice the camera cut out on the back doesnt exactly align with the metal ring of the camera. It doesnt affect the visibility of the camera but im anal like that when i see little imperfection such as this. Have not notice any flash issue so far.

Pretty sure slapping two sheilds front and back will give u the same protection as the Nude case.

Ultimately....this case definitely priced way beyond its value.

Anyone had success with returning the product yet?

Just received mine. I got an ultra black for me and a light blue for my fiance. Overall, not a great case at all. I can't see this thing being worth $20. It's pretty flimsy. Doesn't appear to help with the death grip issue. But I upgraded to 4.0.1 today, so my bars have gone from 5 to 3 and when I death grip it, I go down to one. Another story, anyway...

The case did come pre-scuffed, but that doesn't bug me. It's going to become a scruff magnet, I can tell. Overall, it's an ok holdover case until something better comes along. I'd definitely rate it a buy only if you want the port covers, which are nice, but not nicely cut. They're a little off on the bottom jack cover. If you don't want the port covers, steer clear of this and buy something else.

Just got my ultrablack today and I have to say it's not as bad as some people say. I can't imagine it being worth $20! Mine did not have any scuff marks or any deformities. The sharpness of the bottom edge is really not a problem, its not going to cut you LOL. It fits fine with a full body IS, can't hardly notice any off setting button that is until I tried to take it off! It took several attempts. I guess it kinda stuck to the IS and when I finally was able to take it off, it left bubbles allover the IS! Took me awhile to get the bubbles out and even now there's a few left. The port covers are nice but think I'll be returning. Best case right now with the full body IS is bumper type cases.

Got my ultrablack today in the mail, it was ordered 7/9. I was looking for a hard case since I keep my phone in my pocket and the soft cases are just too hard to take out quickly. :D

My case also was scratched (it’s a plastic case in a tight fitting plastic package), but no big deal since it will be pretty scratched up here in few days.

The edges are little too sharp, especially where the top edge of the case bends down by the speakers.

I do like how it fits the phone. But not looking forward to trying to take it off.

In my opinion, this is an okay case. Would I buy it again, probably not (not for $20). Waiting for InCase to release a case for iPhone 4. Unless I find another hard case before.

I got mine and after looking at it for a few minutes I knew I would send it back. Besides the fact that it has swirl marks, it does feel very cheap and most likely will scratch the phone over time. It's a very hard plastic in contact with the phone, not like silicon or TPU. Something like that WILL scratch the glass.

The search continues...

maybe it's because I got the lime, but I LOVE this case!

It came with one scratch, but not noticeable due to the color, unless it DIRECT lighting.

I love how snuggly it fits the iPhone 4 and the lime is STUNNING in person. I for one do not have the extremely sharp edges problem that some are experiencing. I love the little covers for the headphones and 30-pin connector to stop the dust and grime. Also, I love the included screen protectors which are easy to apply and look pretty good!

If you haven't noticed, most of the negative reviews come from the ultraclear. ANY clear plastic case will be scratched to **** and be disgusting. Example: Griffin Reveal.

I personally love this case with it's low profile design and nice grip. It feels good in my hand and it doesn't feel like it's going to slip out :D

^ I thought I was the only one who actually liked this case.

I got the Ultra Black and just love how sleek it looks & feels. Yeah, maybe not worth $20 but... I've had at least a dozen people ask me where I got it because they love how it looks, so it can't be that bad. I work for an airline and one dude was pissed off about a delay and yelling about it and actually stopped mid-rant to ask about it lol

The one thing I don't like is that I think it will break easily when trying to remove it.

I think it just SEEMS easy to break because it's soft for a hard case. I personally think it'll stand up to removals and life in general pretty well! and lots of people asked me about mine too. This case definitely grabs attention :D

I agree with those who said it feels cheap but IMO it doesn't look cheap. From afar it almost looks like die cast metal (which is probably what they should've made it out of in the first place). It adds minimal bulk for a hard case and the white one is just stunning. It gets all kinds of stares whenever I'm texting. If anything, it complements the phone really well, never taking away from the phone's design, i.e. there's no mistaking it's an ip4 underneath.

From a protection standpoint, I don't expect it to do much in the event of a drop and didn't buy it for that reason.

Got my ultra black today...finally...seemed to take quite a while.

Love it! Off the phone it seems a little cheesey...like the one I have for my iPad, but on the phone it looks excellent. It is exactly what I was looking for. Protects the back while I carry it in my front pants pocket, protects from scratches, doesn't add any bulk and looks great!

To those who are saying it could scratch the phone....don't take it off a million times and you should be good to go!

Good stuff!

Steve

Add me to the minority of people who like this case. I've had the white one for two weeks now (quick and dirty review https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/964747/)
The sharp burrs have gone away on their own just from normal handling. The area between the bezel and case front edge does not collect a lot of dirt that I thought it would. When I remove the case for cleaning every few days there is very little to no dirt. I'm sure if it wasn't white I could see all the hair line scratches but I don't unless I look at an angle under good lighting. Feel is really nice now after break in. Fits in the little coin pocket in my jeans. Seems a lot of people are loving to hate the SE Nude...I like it...just my two cents YMMV

Just received my black Apple bumpers.

Much better than I had expected. Excellent quality.

My nude is going back. There's just no comparison between the two.

I'll be using it with the Waterfield Suede Jacket for bumpers as well.

I feel ya man. I like my white one as well. I just dont know how to fix the flash problem.

Sending my UltraBlack case back. Edges are sharp enough to irritate my ear when I'm on a phone call. Also had scratches on the back even before use. Hopefully they fix this issues. Back to the Feather for me! :D
