I switched from the iPhone 6 to iPhone 6+ and loved it but it was very difficult to use outdoor because I coudnt do it using 1 hand. And it felt too big. Using it during the evenings I had no problems though because I was just at home.

I switched back to my iPhone 6 and bought a iPad Pro 10.5
Best combination ever.
My iPhone 6 does feel a little bit slow nowadays. Im waiting for the new iPhone 8 to replace it. If its similair in size.

A phone size between de + and average iPhone would be perfect.

I tried the Plus for two months when they first came out and I just couldn't stand it. For me, it was way too big to use for phone functions but way too small for web browsing, not to mention the iPad easily has it beat when it comes to battery life. My current mobile device setup is 4.7 iPhone + 9.7 iPad (both in my purse).

Considering the 12.9 second-generation iPad Pro has a 41.0 Wh battery versus a 11.1 Wh 7 Plus battery, I would certainly think so. The 12.9 Pro has three times the battery capacity over the Plus.

That's why iPhone 8 will be amazing - bigger screen, while having (almost) the same size. Assuming the rumors are true.

I was always debating which one works best for me. In the end, I didn't want to lose the portability of the 7.

I went to a 4.7 iPhone and iPad Mini 4 combo, if I need a big screen the Mini is far better than the Plus, when I don't the 4.7" iPhone is much easier to carry and use.

What I noticed with the 4.7 inch iPhone is that Its not easy to use one handed. So I got the 7 Plus because if ill be using two hands anyway then I might as well have the big one. Its also great in bed compared to an iPad.

I switched from JB 7 to Matte Black 7 Plus, really loving it. The screen, to me, is so much better. Seems faster, too, may be placebo, but either way. Just my 2 cents.

After having a regular 6, 6S, and 7 I made the switch for a 7 Plus last month and so far am really enjoying it. I don't have the biggest hands, but I adjusted to the larger size fairly quickly. The improved battery life is a huge plus! I hardly find myself having to re-charge throughout the day like I did with my 7. The dual camera with portrait mode is pretty killer as well. It's nice not having to lug around a DSLR everywhere just to get some good portraits.

I'm really looking forward to the 8 if the rumors are true about screen size and loss of the bezel!

I used the Plus for two years and switched to the 7 (base) last year. I probably should have gotten that model first but I wanted to live the phablet life.

The main issue with the Plus for me was the I never felt comfortable walking around with it. I always had to take it out of my pocket when I sat down too. The 4.7 fits and stays in my pocket much more seamlessly. It's such a basic point but also such an important one.

I enjoyed the screen size of the Plus, but the huge bezels were a major contributing factor to the above. So the new design of the iPhone 8 will be very welcome.

I'm thinking about going from the iPhone 6 to the 7+, mainly to get the dual camera lens. I'm a photographer who often carries a dedicated camera (usually a smallish m4/3 camera with a pancake prime or a small zoom), but there are times when even that small camera gets left home and all I have is my iPhone. I also take a lot of video of my kids with the iPhone.

Another reason is that I bought an Apple Watch two years ago, and since then I just don't keep my iPhone in my pant pocket like I used to. It no longer needs to be quickly accessible and is usually in the pocket of my bag, jacket pocket, or on my desk. Before I got the Apple Watch I went with the iPhone 6 instead of the 6+ because of the same reasons many people give:
  • I wanted my iPhone to fit easily into the front pocket of my jeans, and not be too uncomfortable.
  • I was worried the 6+ would be difficult to operate with one hand, which is sometimes necessary.
  • I was worried it would be easier to drop the 6+ if I'm racing to pull it out of a pocket or bag in time to answer a phone call.
  • I also have an iPad, which is what I use when I want a larger display. My iPhone is for shorter interactions that often involve phone conversations or listening to music/podcasts. If anything it would make more sense to go to the smaller iPhone SE.
The Apple Watch has pretty much made the 1st and 3rd points moot. I no longer need to keep the iPhone quickly accessible (like in my front pocket), and if I want to answer a call I will answer on the watch and then hand off to the iPhone if I want to continue the conversation.

I still think that the regular iPhone 6/7 has the better one-handed form-factor, but the Plus models have the upper hands (cause you'll need both of them) when it comes to the display, camera, and battery life. There is also the factor of my ageing eyes. I started wearing progressive trifocals last year (at 45) and I already need a stronger reading prescription. A larger iPhone display combined with larger text size would be nice. One-handed operation is't as important to me now as it was when my kids were babies. Back then (a few years ago) I would hold a sleeping baby in my left arm while I read a book or browsed news/Facebook on my iPhone with my right hand. These days I usually have both hands available if I need them.

I think you just have to consider both how you carry and how you use your iPhone, and then weight what's most important to you.

I used to have a 7+. Couldn't stand it. Sooo Big. I went all in and went with an SE. Got myself a set of 2.75 Reading Glasses and, BOOM. There it was. :apple:

and how is it w/ the smaller screen and 'slower' processor. . . do you miss the extra screen size? anything?

After nearly a month with the 7+, I love it. The extra battery and lens are amazing, but I feel myself missing my 7 just for the size and ease of use. I cycle quite a bit and commute to work on my bike and trying to handle my 7+ while on a bike (even when stopped) on handed is quite a challenge and I have never felt comfortable without 2 hands on it. I may be pulling my 7 out of storage later tonight!:)

I commute by bicycle (as well as ride for fitness and enjoyment), and I have a solution for you:
Get an Apple Watch! ;)

I used to fumble for my iPhone while riding to answer a call or check to see what that notification I just heard was all about. Depending on where I was and how fast I was going, I would either glance at it while pedaling, or stop the bike for a look. My wife sometimes texts me when I'm on my way home, and I used to have to stop to get the iPhone out to see whether or not it was something I needed to respond to right away. Now I just glance at my watch. I can also make/answer calls on the watch. Another thing I like about the watch is that I often think of things while I'm pedaling that I need to remember to do later, so I just tell Siri to set a reminder.

A cheaper solution would be one of those handlebar mounts for the iPhone.

Haha I totally know you're right! I had an Apple Watch for the past year and half and used that functionality a lot but I recently gave it up for a Withings Steel HR which I really enjoy because of the simplicity and 30 day battery life, but it may be time to make the transition back to the Apple Watch!

I switched from a 6+ to a regular 7 when I upgraded. I mainly use my phone one-handed, and trying to use the Plus model iPhones in one hand is super cumbersome, annoying, and tiring. Sometimes I miss the larger screen, but as soon as I pull out my old 6+, I immediately am reminded why I switched to the smaller size. As far as battery goes, the 7 actually has better battery life than what I was getting on my 6+. I don't use the camera often, so the better camera system in the 7+ isn't important to me either. I'm not sure what I'll do when I upgrade next, considering the bezel-less trend is putting much larger screens in smaller form factors.
