Hello.

I have now switched from Android to iPhone 6s. During first two weeks of hectic usage of my new iPhone, both for work and leisure. I want to reveal my observations of some of the major weakness of newest iPhone:

1. copy and paste function is very flawed and unstable,

2. very weak email handling in stock Mail app for accounts of Exchange, Hotmail, Gmail,

3. Siri being much less efficient than Androids alternative Google Now,

4. iOS 9 being unstable during hectic work sessions,

5. YouTube app not being able to view video in 1080p or 4k quality,

6. not being able to open some websites in Safari,

7. 3rd party keyboard crushing often, like Swift Key app,

8. loosing important emails with attachments,

9. no physical return button, is often a challenge,

Reason why I jumped on the Apple wagon now is that I assumed that after ten generations of iPhones, everything was polished and ready for the switch from my 8 years with Samsung and HTC phones. But, its far from ready. The result of this ”faulty” work by Apple is that on world basis Apple has only 14% of cellphone market share comparing to Androids 83% market share, I believe that this will not change in the near future, due to the above mentioned reasons and of course the obvious, iPhones are still massively overpriced.

Please do challenge my observations, come with suggestions on how to optimize iPhone for higher daily efficiency and performance. Because I truly want to give Apple a chance to convince me that iPhone is the tool for digital life.

Thank you
Other than to attract attention, the point of your post is questionable.

Besides those I mentioned on this post above? Simple things like the ability to put your apps where ever you want on the home screen vs on the iPhone where all apps have to be next to each other, the ability to have widget on the home screen, having a back button and a multitask button all the time, beating able to tweak things without even rooting like the animation speeds, being able to install a custom launcher from the play store.... I can go all day easy.

Ah ok so mostly customisation. I was genuinely asking to see if I was missing anything that I would like.

For sure, the grass is always greener on the other side. I know that if I ditch the iPhone I'm going to miss so many things about it. But I do miss the ability to do whatever I want on android, download MP3 files and movies, rooting and installing custom roms.... It's like I need both lol. I may be getting an android tablet or something.

I have an Android tablet and an iPhone, the partnership works for me.:)

Yeah I know :). Yeah mostly customization. But then there's rooting which takes customization next level. All I mentioned earlier is without rooting the phone. It's really for those who like to tinker with their device to get the best out of them. It's a lot of fun. But again on the other hand you can jailbreak an iPhone (when it's available) and customize it to although nowhere near how you can in android. Both platforms are awesome really.

I hear you, it's a great combo. Or the other way around too, android phone with an iPad.

That's probably a better route, but I really prefer iPhones. iPads are better than Android tablets but they're basically an iPhone with a larger display, and I don't want two devices that are essentially the same.

That's true. Well maybe it's changing with the iPad pro and the new iOS 9 feature that lets you use 2 apps at the same time. I used to do android phone with iPad and I was in heaven. I think I'll do that....

Many of us have used Android for years. We are quite aware what are the advantages and disadvantages of both OSs.
The most important ones are certainly not what you have mentioned in your post.
I came back to iOS 0-24 some days ago. It was a revelation. I could not imagine what I have missed over the years using Android. Now I know. The feeling of convenience and security.
Troll bait not taken.

Did you know half of the employees @ Google use Apple products and develop for them?

They too even boasted how IOS 8.x (NOT 9 mind you) is optimized to work correctly compared to how OPEN Android is and the bugs encountered with so many stupid Google services installed without permission on android OS and always running in background no matter what, destroying battery life!

With that said the GMAIL app for Apple OS is miles ahead and better polished than the Android version. Even better it does not hurt battery life at all and updates itself (mail) seamlessly.

Safari is pretty good for browsing on Apple, If that does not cut it for you (once again gets good battery life) I use UC Browser HD.

Chrome does suck some battery life and crashes from time to time on Apple. But it does it much more on an Android device no matter what version your running!

Yeah we are more locked down in IOS but hell the reason, BATTERY LIFE IS WHY I Came over! 15-16 hrs gaming on an Air 1 and it has all the apps on Android I use, the kicker though is they do not drain battery and they work so much easier and look 10 times better!

Also I did not have to install services just to use one app like Google GMAIL, I did not have to install all the Google BS along with it!

I also use Google Hangouts to make free phone calls for life on tablets. IT WORKS so much better and is so much more user friendly on IOS than Android.

Also as stupid as ICLOUD IS; It syncs everything and is easy to restore or re-sync from! I can even access it all in one place via a web browser with a few simple clicks on a PC.

I could not get any version of Android OS, Google Play, Google Services, and Google Games to ever sync half of the games I played on Android... EVER. So every time I had to reinstall a dam android app or game, it was from scratch with no saves or backups in one easy centralized place. Got sick of that fast on Android with multiple devices.

YEAH we know YOUTUBE does not play anything past 1080p video, you kind of over exaggerated there saying it does not even do that!

It does do 60fps video perfectly up to 1080p and it does 360 video full screen at 60fps in HD using the motion chip and sensors seamlessly.

Complain all you want, you'll never see any ANDROID device with any version of OS and Google apps getting the battery life Apple products can achieve (IOS 8.x).

Why I left Android tablets? None and I mean NONE out there no matter the size of battery could even get close to the mini 2 and or Air 1 in the battery department!

Why have a mobile device if it cannot last with the battery and OS seamlessly working together?

Only reason I want a newer iPhone to replace Samsung crap on Verizon. BATTERY LIFE.

I want an iPhone 6Plus with IOS 8.x. 8-12 hours usage time (screen on) sounds good to me. My Note 3 with crappy Lollipop wont even get 3.5 hours SOT now with the "total connection time bug" Google will not fix and knows about on any 5.x version. They supposedly did fix that battery killer bug though in Marsh Mallow (Android 6.x). Only problem cannot upgrade Note 3 to that version because its out dated.

Even though I hate IOS 9 right now, at least they allow you to install it on older devices!

Thank you for your reply Alent1234.
I have tried gmail app, its a weak stripped down version of Android gmail app. Things like reading your draft before opening it for editing is a drawback, among other weakness.

I will try Chrome, thank you for your suggestion.

I've been an iOS user since iOS 2.1. I've been jailbreaking since 3.1.2. I remember back when Apple charged money for iOS releases. I've been a developer for iOS since 5.0 My point is, I know iOS inside and out. I also have owned multiple android phones, which I rooted and installed custom roms and kernels on. I get both sides and can help with any issues. I hope my advice can help you.

1. copy and paste function is very flawed and unstable,
I actually prefer iOS copy paste. Just hold down to select and it gives your options. I've never had instabilities with either. Please elaborate and what you are doing to cause those instabilities and what form they take.

2. very weak email handling in stock Mail app for accounts of Exchange, Hotmail, Gmail,
While it may seem void of features, the Mail app is the epitome of Apple's philosophy. It very simple from the outside, but you'll discover that swiping and dragging elements like messages and drafts gives you more options and flexibility. Try swiping right or left on the message list and you'll see almost all the same options Gmail gives you. If you still prefer something else, try Boxer, Gmail, or Google's Inbox app.

3. Siri being much less efficient than Androids alternative Google Now,
In most cases I agree. Google Now has much more in depth results to offer.

4. iOS 9 being unstable during hectic work sessions,
Please elaborate on what you are doing and what is happening.

5. YouTube app not being able to view video in 1080p or 4k quality,
Thats because the iPhone 6S is 1334 x 750. The 6S Plus is 1920 x 1080. With smart phones, I think the focus shouldn't be on the number of pixels or resolution, but on PPI (pixels per inch). The 6S has 326 PPI, while the 6S Plus has 401 PPI, which was a deciding factor in me getting the Plus. I could definitely notice how much sharper the Plus was. However, between the Plus and my Note 5, I did not notice a difference in resolution, only a difference in color and image quality.

6. not being able to open some websites in Safari,
I could see this being an issue, but what websites are you referring to?

7. 3rd party keyboard crashing often, like Swift Key app,
OMG I can't even begin to describe how much I agree with this. I love using swift key and having an all black theme, but the constant crashing means its basically useless. This is definitely a big issue with iOS.

8. loosing important emails with attachments,
Do you mean not being able to open them, not seeing them, what?

9. no physical return button, is often a challenge,
Yes this is very true. It can be annoying to use random buttons and swipes, but I love the advantages it can bring to one handed use. Using swipes on safari instead of pressing a button is so much easier to do. Plus, you can see what you're swiping to instead of guessing and going too far back.

Much respect cause I can tell you're spot on. I also use iPhones and android VERY extensively (I have owned every iPhone except the 4 and 5c and pretty much every high end android phones these past 5 years, no joke at all) and you're absolutely right in your post.

But both IOS and Android have room for improvement and it will definitely happen in the future. IOS will certainly allow for more customization and android is going to be more and more stable, they have no choice but to improve these things.

Question, what is your honest opinion on the Note 5 and how do you compare it to the 6S plus?

Always heard this, what freedom do you miss?

I think it is what is meant by freedom, amongst others:
1. Full customization. Including widgets etc.
2. File system use. Chance to delete, copy etc. as you wish in and out of your device. Including the possibility to connect a pendrive etc to your phone.
3. No need for a software like iTunes to copy songs, photos, videos etc. to and from your device.
and so on.

Exactly. There's just too much to mention.

I completely agree. Standby time is atrocious on Android. I have an android wear watch and when using it with my Nexus 6, I was using the screen for only about 1 hour for my whole school day, yet the phone still was on 15 percent when I got home (5:30am off charger, 5pm back on). I hate how 40 services have to run to support the dang thing. Looking at CPU monitors on my iPhone, Apple runs just a few services. It obvious that what Google is doing is excessive. Plus, any time I want to do navigation, I have to turn on High Accuracy or else location doesn't update enough for Turn by Turn. However, high accuracy it horrible at efficiency and for some reason, the google app decides it wants to use GPS 24/7 whenever it can, so it shortens my battery life by a good 10-20%. Plus, Marshmallow doesn't fix the battery drain since Google's services are permanently exempt from optimizations. I had no battery savings from Marshmallow.

Yeah, 3) is a drag. Apple really ought to make it possible to drag & drop content to and from the iPhone. Although it absolutely can be done through iTunes it's a complete faff. I use TransferPro to send things via WiFi and thus eliminating the need for iTunes. It is slower however, obviously.

I assume you're not a troll, just an Android user who's a bit sceptical, which I can totally understand. However, there are problems with your OP. First, you use a lot of words like "weak" and "poor" which doesn't tell us anything to be honest. Then, some things just don't make sense. Why the hell would you want to watch 1080p or 4K video when your display is just barely above 720p? For mail and Internet problems, use Chrome and Gmail. Regarding the back button, you need to get used to it.

Yeah, so, use the phone for two months, explain what you don't like, and then you'll be able to judge.

That doesn't make sense. Why 2 months?

I know but why 2 months? Is 2 weeks too early?
Yeah, it is. While it took me no time to get fully used to my Android after I bought it, it's just to make sure to be able to eliminate problems prior to judging. If he has a problem because he is still working with it like it's Android, then it needs to be fixed prior to start complaining.

Honestly, it was a great phone, but I hated how much adding software and services Samsung put on. It always used 1.6gb of RAM just for the system, plus 0.8 for "apps" on startup, leaving me with around 1.5gb for my apps. My nexus 6 however always had 300mb system and 600 apps (running Chroma ROM), leaving me with plenty of RAM. This wouldn't be an issue, but Samsung decided that when apps are in the background, they for some reason need to reload if you have more than about 6. There was always a lag reopening an app.

I loved the screen, it was really beautiful. The design was spot on with the curved back.

The phone definitely lagged hard. I couldn't type anything reasonable in hangouts because the keyboard would lag while typing. This did not happen with the same keyboard in hangouts on my nexus.

The S Pen worked great and was fun to use, but I couldnt find a real use for it. Writing with the pen is slower than a keyboard, so I didnt use it for notes.

Battery life was worse than my Plus with the same apps and usage, especially when doing anything location based.
iOS apps look better for the most part with the exception of Netflix and YouTube.
3D touch is something I have yet to use enough to give a verdict on. I like the idea and gestures, but I'm not sure how useful it will be.

The iPhone's fingerprint sensor is light years ahead of Samsung's. Every time I use the Note's sensor sideways, it fails to recognize the first time, making it quicker to just remove the passcode and go unsecured.

The iPhone is definitely faster at task, but the slow animation speed makes it appear slow. Thats why I always get NoSlowAnimations first thing when jailbreaking.

I liked the phone, but it tried to do too much and can't get its resource usage under control.

I absolutely agree with you. Though, I have to admit that I have never been a fan of iTunes, to put it mildly.
The other day when I made my own ringtone and text tone, I got really mad. I followed the usual procedure (remembering from the past), finally got the .m4r files in iTunes, hit on Sync. Nothing. Had to search on the net to learn that I had to swipe first slightly to the right and then to the left when I'd see the phone icon.... Madness. That was the moment when I could kill the software engineer.

Excellent man. So a note 5 with a custom Rom should be pretty good. Also with android 6.0 coming out that should (hopefully) improve things. I wish we could get the Samsung hardware running IOS.

Yeah a Note 5 with a custom rom would be good. However, the lack of AOSP compatibiilty due to the exynos chip makes it hard to make a rom that fixes samsung's problems. Definitely don't get a Verizon or ATT phone. They lock bootloaders and block root through bootlooping. Plus, Verizon still hasn't rolled out samsung pay.
