You can disable LTE in the data options menu, it’ll revert to 4G.

LTE / 5Ge is far superior to 4G on at&t. I routinely pull download speeds of over 100Mb/s. Ping times are lower. Data loads faster. Not to mention VoLTE calls and HD voice...to each his own I guess...Enjoy 2009 tech, OP.
Wait, disabling LTE becomes 4G? That doesn't make sense, unless 3G/HSDPA is considered 4G....

How are they still allowed to get away with pulling stunts like this?
I remember buying a pallet of HP Veer phones during the fire sale and importing them to the U.K., these were advertised as 4G and I had to specifically state when selling them that the phones were 3G only.
If someone advertised 4G as 5G over here they would be dragged into court rather quickly for false advertising.

Yes, for AT&T marketing purposes they got what's actually still 3G labeled as 4G for them in iOS: https://www.theverge.com/2012/3/8/2...f-marketing-at-t-upgrades-apples-iphone-to-4g (somewhat similar to what they have been doing with 5G recently too: https://www.theverge.com/2019/2/4/1...n-iphones-misleading-ios-software-update-beta).
That's just hilarious. Amazing that everybody let AT&T do it, labeling 3G to 4G, and 4G to 5G. So once actual universal 5G rolled out, they can claim that it's 6G? :D

So how did the OP "switch" to 4G if it's not user selectable?

You can switch to 4G. That’s not what I said lol. I said 5GE is not available in settings. On AT&T LTE shows up in settings, but on control center it shows up as 5GE.

Yes that’s AT&T for you. The 5GE only appears when you have LTE enabled and then you turn off LTE and it enables “4G” which is essentially 3G. I don’t understand how they get away with it lol.

Notice how the OP has not explained how they turned 5Ge off in their settings despite being asked on a number of occasions. Yet another thread using made up scenarios to satisfy their own boredom perhaps?

Go to Settings then Cellular and then to Cellular Data Options. You can toggle LTE off and on there. Sometimes LTE gets slow and I have to go to 4G and I get better speeds.
