Switching family from ATT to Verizon for iPhone X

I just want to get everyone’s advice on the best way to switch three people from ATT to Verizon family plan for the iPhone X. I want to have my Verizon account already set up with Verizon when the x is ready for pre-order next Friday, but I want to order the actual phones thru Apple. Am I able to do this? I was on the Verizon website and it seemed like in the process of creating a plan you also have to select a phone for each person that you want, and I wasn’t able to select the X for all three of us because it’s not ready for pre-order yet. I just want to have to avoid having to order thru Verizon and it seems like I am going to have to because When you are in the screen creating the family plan it also asks what phone you want, and I’m not able to select iPhone X because it’s not out yet. But I don’t want the X from them I want it from Apple! Can I just create the plan, and then order thru Apple?

You are going to have to wait until the iPhone X is available. Then buy the phone(s) from Verizon and port the numbers over.

Really? That sucks. I’m worried I might not get them as fast as I would’ve if I could order thru the App Store app. Heard that’s the best way

The AT&T model will not work on Verizon and you can't order the Verizon model without an active Verizon account. You'll have to wait.

Pre order phones on Friday, when they arrive, port numbers from ATT to Verizon accounts.

Make sure you have a spare phone you can activate. In order to use the Apple app to order you will be putting in your new Verizon phone #, zip code, SSN last four. Then you need to be able to receive a text verification code on that new Verizon line.
