Useless comment, it completely depends upon where you live.

Did I say it would apply to everyone in every corner of the country? No, I did not.

I said I don't miss it because I find having a reliable signal to be more valuable than looking something up on the web while talking.

Verizon's 3G network might be a little slower than AT&T's, but I have no regrets switching. I don't really talk on the phone all that much, so having voice and data at the same time did not make a huge difference to me. Data was so inconsistent when I was on AT&T that I just got fed up. Even though I don't make a lot of phone calls, I have yet to drop a call while on Verizon. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for AT&T.

As for the process, it was pretty seamless. I ordered my iPhone 4 on Verizon's web site, got it two days later, then ported my number. It was as easy as that.

For me the biggest thing is that I can access email, Facebook, stream music, and check Twitter at work on my phone. I could not do that at all while with AT&T.

I switched to verizon this summer after 8yrs of Cingular/AT&T and 4yrs of iphones.

I dont notice any difference really, other than verizons call quality was much better with better reception indoors, but AT&T had 5x faster speeds.

Wanna bet? I'm putting my money on 24 months.

Yep! I know it does not come up often, but business plans and perks are different than for individuals or family plans. I usually keep my mouth shut about the great perks we get being a business owners mostly from fear that it will get out and we will lose them. From prices on phone plans to great deals on the phones themselves. Sometimes it sucks, like the fact that we cannot deal with the retail locations and have to get our plans and equipment from corporate but it is worth it.

I guess they figure (and usually they are right) that business plans are not streaming video and music all day and that we buy ok phones for our employees, not the newest widget. Its the average guy at home that is buring up the data and such. So we get 12 month upgrades if we want them (att, just found out verizon is 20)and unlimited data plans for cheap etc. I found out we can still get that. And the new phones are very cheap, no activation fees and some free accesories. But, they do this to make it easier to switch over from one company to the next.

Cripes!

There is so much misinformation on this thread.

1. SMS is part of the voice channel, so they will come through while you are on the phone. Texts and calls will interrupt data (I used to use a phone on EDGE, same deal).

2. Verizon and AT&T are BOTH 20 months on a line for upgrades. The year upgrades are all gone.

However, why on earth would you want to choose a slower carrier that's more expensive, and doesn't have as many features? AT&T IS the iPhone carrier.

Has anyone gone from Att to Verizon and willing to give input?. I am wondering how much I will miss being on the Internet and the phone at the same time. I have ip4. And will probably get the same or perhaps the 4s

Not sure if anyone mentioned this? I am new to iPhone but on Verizon. I noticed the call waiting feature seems to have issues maybe a limitation of CDMA. My niece has an ATT iPhone and can have 3 callers on hold and talking with another, no problem. The Verizon iPhone will just hang up when you try to switch to an incoming call from my experiance. At any rate it does not handle multiple calls very well. If your a buisness owner this may be a deal breaker for you?

I am looking to change due to service. ATT service has tanked in the last few months. Our local tower was taken down due to construction and there is no date of when it will be back up. So I have to do something. Verizon matched my price on my plan with similar features, plus I decided to get some of my phones as android on the 4g. That will help a bit. But if ATT would fix their service I would not change. 3 months so far and still not working. Plus we have kept in contact with the city and ATT still has not finished filing the permit to put the tower back up. So, this could be awhile.

If it is a co-located site, then Verizon would suck equally as much. Also, for reception at home, you could use a repeater (to get service from a distant site), or a Microcell. I have the M-Cell, and it works pretty well, as we are in a neighborhood that has marginal at best AT&T, terrible Verizon, basically no Sprint or T-Mo, and zero Metro PCS.

You should do more research, as most sites are co-located. Here's a new one in our area, as of December of last year:

Top is T-Mobile GSM/EDGE/HSPA+, next is AT&T GSM/EDGE/HSPA+, then Verizon CDMA/EVDO.

The inference here is that I did not do research and do not know what is going on. I am a business owner and do my research well. It has been 3 months of this poor service. ATT gave us a free micro-cell and we still have issues, plus it is my home and my office location. verizon works fine since I checked with neighbors and other business' etc and the verizon is great. Neigboring business just took 7000 a month bill to verizon a month ago and is working great. and on and on and on........ The reason I came to this site is to get specifics about iphone on att vs verizon. Seems like it will be ok

Ok, that's fine, it just sounded like the town's tower was down, not a specific AT&T site. Since you have the M-Cell, you should be fine with AT&T. That, and AT&T will eventually get the tower back up. If it's really that big of a deal, get a repeater to have regular coverage at your house.

I have a Verizon iphone and an AT&T ipad. Verizon data speeds are pathetic on good days. AT&T speeds are consistently at least 3 times faster than Verizon. The only way I will stay with Verizon is if the iphone 5 is 4G.

Good info. I like the suggestion of trying it for the 30 days and if it works I will port my numbers over. I can call forward my phone for a month or so. That should be a decent test
