Another point to consider is TMO's roaming and overseas callingpolicy. Now, while it is awesome, I don't travel nearly enough to have that be a deciding factor. That said, it may be value added to some customers.

Nobody needs to upgrade 3 times a year ..... Specially if its an iPhone since they only do Annual upgrades as of today February 22nd 2016. With Sprint being cheaper and offering unlimited 4G LTE data cheaper than T-mobile and $5 more than T-mobiles 6GB offering you don't need Binge on or their streaming deal because you have unlimited LTE data which even with Sprint speeds is fairly good in Deer Park Long Island. I drive there on i450 ( The LIE or the Long Island Expressway) and Sprint service was good the whole way to Exit 51 or 52 which are the two exits to Deer Park which the OP said lived in Deer Park.
Needs and wants are different things. Again I'm putting it all out there for anyone coming to the thread to decide what they want to do with. I agree. I won't be upgrading three times a year. At least one person in this thread said they would. Who am I to tell them otherwise?

Again, that $5 difference potentially buys the OP perks that he would use that Sprint doesn't offer. I have no skin in the game. It doesn't matter to me who he gets service from. I already outline that our family plan is cheaper with TMO, so this isn't about me, I'm just attempting to not discard features and promos because they don't matter to me. I don't know who they matter to.

Sprint also offers internal friendly deals

Sprint also offers internal friendly deals
I don't know what this means :(
International? (Not trying to be snarky but for a second I read that and wondered if you meant international or some sort of "internal discounted. I'll assume international though). I haven't thoroughly looked into it but I know TMO offers calling to dozens of countries at no additional cost. They also allow roaming in most of those same countries at no additional cost. I'd have to compare the two side by side if I were making a decision based in that, but as mentioned, it's not my deciding factor.

Edit: I went ahead and checked Hungary on both carriers. Texts are free to both. Calls are free to both landline and mobile on TMO and costs 20-40 cents a minute on Sprint.

Please realize there may be countries where Sorint has the advantage but in hardly going to check each one. I'm actually happy I did this because my mom pays $5 a month for Skype credits to Hungary and she doesn't need to be doing that. I didn't know until now!

I edited my above post with an example pertaining to my family. You promoted me to check TMO's international to Hungary and they added land and mobile lines. We can save another $5 a month by dropping Skype. I love when a discussion leads me to saving money in unplanned ways lol.

I do stream music A LOT I JUST SAID SO.

Your definition of a lot is obviously much different than mine.

T-Mobile is $35 more expensive....... $65 for the Plan with 6GB + $30 for the Phone EIP + Sales Tax. You subtract the phone you still have Sales tax. The plan will be AT LEAST $80 dollars per month without EIP.

Where are you getting these numbers from? Taxes and fees are not $15+/month on a $65 plan. My plan on Verizon is $65 and my taxes and fees are less than $5. Just stop talking about the EIP because that isn't an option on Cricket. Let's compare prices on the same things.

Cricket is $60.

+$15 or more in taxes and fees apparently.

If you don't have an EIP with T-Mobile ALREADY your phone is obviously paid off and you can leave.

Obviously.

Even if he does have an EIP than go to SPRINT which is cheaper than T-mobile for the same 6GB plan. Sprint with lease is $75 with lease of an iPhone 6s Plus.

This is all that's relevant to this topic. OP is deciding whether to switch to Sprint to save money, not switch to a network with better coverage for the same amount of money or more. That's why I don't know why you even brought Cricket up. So you're saying he should switch to Sprint to save money, and I'm saying he should stay on T-Mobile and switch to a lower data plan, since he's already happy with T-Mobile and may not like Sprint.

T-mobile is a ripoff which is one of the reasons why I left them for Verizon.

That's funny.

$10 more at Verizon I got better coverage and better speeds. Eventually left Verizon because even than i was spending $150 for myself only.

So you're saying you had one line on T-Mobile for $140? I'm going to call BS. You also aren't taking all of T-Mobile's features into consideration, like unlimited throttled speeds after you use up your allotment vs. getting charged overage fees, free unlimited texting and data roaming in most other countries, free music and video streaming for select services, etc. Other carriers don't offer these things.

For $5 dollars more per month you can get unlimited 4G LTE data with Sprint than T-mobile 6GB plan. T-mobile 4G LET unlimited plan is now $95 while Sprint is $70 either way you cut it Sprint is CHEAPER than T-Mobile.

Doesn't matter. OP stated he only needs about 6GB.

As far as cricket goes your better off paying the ETF or payment plan and going with Cricket.

Already countered this above.

I seriously think people need to stop drinking the T-mobile Kool-aid because they are just as bad as every other carrier in the United States

Wow. You're trying to make your own personal experiences the OP's. You need to stop drinking the Haterade because OP is happy with T-Mobile and that's all that matters to OP.

Cricket has no fees....it's included in the price. And yes taxes are that high. I spent around $15 alone in taxes on my bills. I had the $70 unlimited plan with a $25 EIP payment and the total cost with taxes was around $115 a month.

What haterade. T-Mobile is Crappy like any other provider but t-mobile is great at hiding it. I drank their Kool aid and left.

As I said you can get unlimited data at sprint for $5 dollars more than t-mobile 6gb plan with a lease for an iPhone 6s plus or an EIP

You're hating because someone is happy with T-Mobile and you just won't accept that.

This thread is rapidly devolving into mud flinging. I'm fairly sure sports drinks have nothing to do with what the OP is trying to accomplish here.

As an aside, $15 for a single line is rather on the high side for taxes. I have no idea how NY handles their business. I have had mobile phone bills in CA and MA and $10-12 was about the Grand total for four lines. I do know this can vary by state and can even vary as you travel from state to state and use cell service in said states. We've done a few cross country moves for university so... Been there haha.

He can be happy with it I'm just stating they arent as good price wise and sprint is cheaper which is a fact if your looking for an iPhone on a single line. $45 for sprint 6gb LTE vs $65 for T-Mobile.

Unlimited LTE data?
T-Mobile $95
Sprint $75

The take home point, though, is the OP is trying to save money on his monthly bill. This isn't saving money. This is spending more money.

Nobody is even contesting that Sprint's single unlimited line is cheaper than TMO's. But repeating all this multiple times is not taking into account:
A. oP has a $20 discount which, unless I'm told otherwise, isn't applicable with Sprint
B. The goal is money savings

Even at the same offering sprint is cheaper

T-Mobile 6gb vs sprint
Sprint :$45
T-Mobile: $65

Try Ting. It operates on the Sprint network. I switched from Sprint to Ting to save money, and it works just as good as Sprint had. (And yes, I've saved some money.)

He has a $20 discount though man. Why is this continuously disregarded?

The net cost is the same at that point. Let's say everything else is equal. Why move to another carrier if you're not even saving a dime?

I actually never saw that. Either way wait until he talks to their horrible customer service :p

Friendly, they are. Helpful, often they're not. I can attest to that lol. Took me three months to iron out errors in our orders

Yes they are nice but they are the most unhelpful people on the planet. Took me three months to cancel my account because they took three months to actually get my return of my device. Paying $300 per month for two plans and not using one of them for three months isn't fun. Plus I had to wait to port my number so I wouldn't pay the EIP balance on a device I didn't even have. Coverage was pretty horrible as well.

My situation was actually similar. Except I wasn't canceling. I was trying to return JOD devices that we upgraded to 6s and 6s Ppus phones during their free memory upgrade promos. They bungled it severely however I got three devices that were 128gb each without therapeutical $200 down and my 6s plus was half paid off (via a giant bill credit since they messed up the down payment that should have been zero). I made out like a bandit there, though it wasnt without headache.

I want to clarify some things. I usually upgrade my phone once a year when the new iPhone comes out, so I don't need 3 phones per year.

My $20 monthly discount would only apply to T-Mobile since that's what my boss has and he was able to give me that same discount.

My monthly bill with T-Mobile for unlimited data including my EIP and AFTER my $20 discount is still $100.

With Sprint, I would switch from my 6S Plus to the 6S. My bill for 6GB of data (which is all I really need) would be $60, saving me about $40 a month. So I'm still saving more with Sprint, despite not having the $20 discount through my job.

I guess I'm still trying to decide if the $40 in savings is worth the switch. I'm starting to think it might be...

Again, it comes down to location.

If Sprint has good coverage, good speeds and good service (or even two of those three things) where you live and it's $40 cheaper then why the hell would you stay with T-Mobile (assuming porting out is financially feasible)?

T-Mobile doesn't owe you anything, you don't owe them anything. Neither does Sprint. Go with whatever is cheapest and has the best options for your particular circumstance.

$40 extra a month will buy a lot of Starbucks coffee - even at Starbucks prices! ;)

I tried to switch to Sprint's prepaid subsidiary Boost Mobile because I could get a iPhone 6s carrier locked to Sprint for $459. Once I received it I ran some speed tests. With t-Mobile LTE I would get ~14 Mbps down, with a family member's iPhone 6 + on LTE, I was getting 7Mbps down, with Sprint(Boost Mobile) I was getting 400-500kbs and on some runs as low as 200Kbps. That was unacceptable so I packed my new 6s back up and returned it to Boost.

Make sure the network is acceptable to you before you spend a dime with Sprint.

My little experiment ended costing me ~$60 between lost round trip shipping charges and 1 months prepaid service.

The part that still confuses me about your situation is why you aren;t comparing TMO's smaller data plan with Sprint's 6GB. Their 6GB plan is $65. Is that not eligible for the $20 off that your friend is able to give you? If it is, seems to me, that is cheaper.

You seem to just want the cheapest plan and what we've tried to do here is break down what can possibly be the cheapest. You haven;t yet mentioned why you went with unlimited on tmobile but could live with 6GB on sprint. I imagine you could live with the same 6GB on tmobile, unless I am missing something.
