Nothing of the sort announced during the WWDC. What a shame!

I heard whispers a few months back about Apple in talks to bring one of these to iOS but haven't heard a thing since, anyone have any ideas?

For those of you who don't know what these are, they make typing on your phone about 100 times easier when on the move, made moving back from Android that much harder.

They may announce a Swype -type keyboard during a WWDC in 50 years from now, market it as an unprecedented innovation. I'm getting more and more disappointed with the Cupertino lot.

the day Apple allows third party apps to replace their default ones is the day pigs fly.

Swype is essential

They need Swype on this thing, or I simply cannot switch from Android. It's really that simple.

I'd like to switch from Android to iOS — security, OS updates, display brightness, battery life, and now with the iPhone 5 build quality as well — but the bottom line is I need to be able to keyboard the phone at a rate that's at least competitive with touch-typing. And Swype is how you do that on a mobile, unless you've got a Blackberry with a physical keyboard.

That doesn't mean they have to give up control of the keyboard API. If they absolutely must insist on persisting with that, then so be it —*as long as they license Skype. Is it really that hard to make a choice between licensing Skype and sandboxing the keyboard API so that it's safe for third-party apps, or do they have to persist with the current choice of doing nothing at all?

Apple has determined that their users don't need or want Swiftkey/Swype.

Any updates on this?

I'm shocked that someone hasn't posted that they are perfectly fine with the stock iOS keyboard. Worst keyboard of any mobile device hands down. Swiftkey and Swype ftw.

I agree. The stock keyboard is maddeningly slow to use. I've tried out Swype on a friend's Android and its easier to use. I hate having to be so precise on the iOS keyboard, and not getting options on the autocorrect. Apple has really fallen down on usability here.

Exactly. IMO, iOS is def the better operating system, but it's like "ol trusty"... all is stable and reliable, but nothing is ever new. Everything they announced for iOS 7 is old news for Android users. It's really starting to get to me... especially the interviews with Johnny about how "revolutionary" their old news is. Apple's gotta step it up soon or I'm gonna be jumping ship. And it's totally ridiculous there is no choice to get SwiftKey/Swype as opposed to this pathetic little keyboard I'm typing on. Lol. Just my 2 cents...
