Sync .Mac Bookmarks by July 6th

Now Apple as started shipping boxes as well. Cant see why it would do that if its as long as July 11th!

No... my guess is that July 11th is only for direct internet purchases! Apple will replace current users services slowly over time starting from july 6th!

Well, being an existing customer, my new mail addresses are working and have been since early Monday morning (7th)...

I find it odd that Apple won't still have online bookmark viewing via the web interface. Oh well, it would be nice to keep. In my opinion MobileMe/.Mac needs all the features it can get, and even then it still is a bit expensive.

Anyway my old bookmarks that have been sitting on the .Mac server haven't synced in ages. So there were a bunch of old bookmarks I never used. However I wanted to back them up just in case, so I created a new user account and did a bookmark sync, copied the Bookmarks.plist file from the directory (~/Library/Safari/) and saved it on my iDisk as a backup. :)

Here are some steps to help you out, I just did this today so the bookmarks are still on their servers.

-Create a new user account on your Mac or backup your current Safari bookmarks file to another location on your Mac so they won't get lost. (Located in ~(username)/Library/Safari/)
-Sync your Bookmarks to your Mac and have it so the .Mac Bookmarks override the current ones on your computer, not a merge.
-When done copy the newly synced Bookmarks.plist file to another location, or make an archive of it.
-Put your old Bookmarks.plist file back in it's original folder, replacing the newly synced file.

Hope this helps! :D

Any ways, Apple's already said it would be 9th Midnight! We'll just have to wait till then I guess! (I hope their servers don't crash with the amount of traffic!):D

not sure why this thread reappeared on the home page today, but I was out of town when this took place so here is my two cents...

I used the feature often when I was at my in-laws house and needed to check stuff on their computer. I don't have an iPhone (can't get one here) and don't travel with a laptop usually. So I will miss this feature.

If anyone hears of an app that does export bookmarks automatically to iDisk let me know please.
