Actually I just did a quick check on if the Memory Usage data on both the Activity Monitor and iStat Menus Memory Usage Bar is it the same ? And shockingly the difference between the two is huge (Check the attached Screenshot) Now this makes me think that iStat Menus which is like touted as one of the cuts have APPS by almost tech sites, is it worth having in your Menu Bar or not ? The Black one is iStat Menus and the White is from Activity Monitor. Any comments ?

If you look in Activity Monitor you will see the main Safari process and also a separate process for each page (tab) Safari has open. For example look on there are icloud.com with 159MB used. If you add those all up, it looks like it comes out to the total shown by iStat menus. It appears iStat menus does not show the individual tabs and just adds them up to one, Safari entry.

Interesting observation I will have to check !!

Anything similar to iStat out there? I remember using MenuMeters back in the day, but I'm unaware of any current alternatives to iStat

I also find the devs to be really unresponsive and greedy.

Greedy isn't a strong enough word to describe them. I don't feel bad when people pirate their software. If you bought iStat on Yosemite they expect you to pay again if you wish to update to el capitan. Complete non sense. The devs of little snitch also do the same thing.

Developing software takes time and effort. Just because you bought a program in 2010 doesn't mean the dev doesnt need to eat in 2015. I pay for every update.

...That makes no sense

If they want to charge for updates then they need to provide new substantive features that entice the user to willingly upgrade.

Intentionally gimping your software so that it stops working when OS X gets updated is a scummy move.

I don't expect to see a lot of upgrade fees with el capitan since it's essentially the same as Yosemite.

I doubt the developer puts code in specifically to BLOCK the new version of OSX. But I can believe that API is different so the developer has to go in and adjust for the new API.

The APIs don't change, if that was the case then every program would be effected.
