Just put an order in with Apple. If the store ends up getting one before hand you can just cancel the online order when you pick it up. At least online you know you should be getting one by a certain date.

Just wanted to post an update , my two phones were delivered. Well not delivered I went to the UPS customer care office and picked up the devices. I love it so far.
No charge on my card yet but they created a shipping label. Hopefully it goes out in the next day or two and I can have it by Monday or Tuesday. About time I can stop obsessing over this.
Everyone should try checking out the UPS site tracking # by reference (Current mobile #) if your T-mobile status page still says "Backordered" Last night it was showing "no record found", but tonight it showed a shipping label was created. Looks like my AMEX was charged as well! I really hope this means good news!!?? Don't let me down T-mobile!

Yup same here. No delivery date yet and the order status on my tmobile never changed but I have a label and that's all I care about right now. T-Mobile is always slow with notifying. I feel like I don't get the text or e-mails until hours after it actually processes.
32GB Gold online purchase (existing customer) officially shipped from T-mobile yesterday morning! Ground shipping! Grr. Should be delivered on the 21st. Monday can't come soon enough!
Missing Activation Code
My wife's new gold 5s came yesterday, but not without an issue. I ordered it directly from Apple (because the T-Mobile website seems to insist on a payment plan, and I wanted to pay for the phone in full). The iPhone came with the T-Mobile SIM but no other T-Mobile paperwork, which meant I didn't have the sheet with the activation code. So I couldn't activate online. This would be a problem because I wanted the $30/month 100 minutes talk, unlimited text and sorta unlimited data plan.
So I had to make a call to activate. I did have a hassle getting the plan because they said it was only available if I bought the phone from Walmart. But after checking with the inevitable supervisor, she went ahead and set me up. A second hassle was that I didn't have a payment card but wanted to pay for service on my credit card -- that they couldn't do on the phone! They make it difficult to pre-pay every step of the way.
Seems to be working fine now.
And IMHO, the "gold" is so subdued I wouldn't say it was worth the extra wait. My wife likes it though.
ADDED ONE DAY LATER -- Turns out the number issued was for a town 100 miles away.
Took about a half hour to get it corrected as the CSR first blamed Siri and then didn't seem to understand why it mattered.

Anyone else order on or around Oct 1st? Mine hasn't shipped yet and still says backordered. Originally, the estimate would be the 14th I thought.

Just had a couple questions for anyone who's dealt with T-mobile upgrades UPS shipping:
- Do they require signature upon delivery? I was worried nobody would be home during the time UPS usually comes (between 3-5), so I signed up for MyChoice and changed delivery to a UPS Retail Store ($5 charge, which happens to be a 2 min walk from my work)
- Also, by UPS dropping off the package at a retail location will that mean I would be able to pick up my phone at an earlier time? I would assume the UPS truck would have to stop at the retail location first before they make their rounds.

Well my phone is at my house as of around 1 oclock today. I could've went home to get it but I figured it'd give me a little more excitement to go home.
Update: My iPhones just shipped for the family. (one gold included)
