At least we get to pay $2.19/gallon of gasoline. I believe this is were you guys get really screwed in Europe.
I do prefer to pay more for my mobile service than for gasoline. At least I can go places without hurting my wallet.

Yeah. Our fuel is a bit more expensive. I saw where i live 1,29 euro per liter diesel. And 3,78541178 liters (= 1 gallon) costs 4,88 euro (5,33 dollars!)

But enjoy the cheap gas *laughs in European public transport*

You guys are so screwed in the USA with your mobile and internet subscriptions. I pay 25 euro per month for my cellphone contract and have unlimited everything, with a 5GB fair use policy per day. If i exceed that 5GB i can request a new GB for free in the app of my provider and so on and so on...

Population density in Europe is 3.5 times higher than the US. Germany is 7 times. It makes sense that building infrastructure in Europe is more economical.

Hallo mein liebe Nachbar! I am from The Netherlands, on the Tele2 network. Unfortunately Tele2 has recently been taken over by (yes really) T-Mobile so after the promised three years of "We're gonna change absolutely nothing" i dread the day that those three years are over i will get a letter telling me "Unfortunately do to higher costs maintaining our network we are forced to raise your monthly bill from 25 to 25000000 euro. Kloveyabye". Which will definitely happen for sure. Same as for customers on the Sprint/Tmobile network in the USA.
I loved The Netherlands when I was there for New Year - although not so much your food prices, but for the cheese I’ll be back soon ;). My signal switched to KPN when I was there, and there was LTE throughout everywhere I went - 1000% better than anything I experience on 1&1.

Hopefully I never have to look at that “Sprint guy Paul” in another commercial ever again.

I love Sprint only because of the price. For 3 lines with smart phones it's $190 a month (give or take a few bucks)

Good news, and a decade in the making it seems. Ever since T-Mobile lost exclusive use of the iPhone they've been in the shadows.
You think that's a good deal? Sounds like you haven't shopped around for a while.
Do you drive a BMW, or, an Audi?

The big thing is our networks are the size of like 50 of your networks. Obviously the costs involved are going to be more,

Yeah, but in your country there are also 50 times more people.

AT&T had a net income over 2018 of 19,9 billion dollars, so plenty of pennies to invest in their network. Verizon had a net income of 15 billion. So these big boys are not poor. Thanks to their ridiculously high monthly subscription costs.

Well, the most mobile internet I have used on one day was 4,5 GB when i had to quickly download some Spotify playlists before boarding a 12 hour flight. Other than that, i never exceed it.

Also, i you got all-in-one packages here for landline phone + HDTV + internet for 40 euro's per month.

When i read stories about paying 100 dollars+ per month in the US i am shocked!

This. I’m British but I live in the US. I pay T-Mobile $70 a month and use maybe 10 GB. I still pay 3UK £12 a month for 12GB data. The best thing, it works in 80 countries (at LTE speeds) around the world...including the US. My UK contract is cheaper than my US contract here in the US. Lack of competition is not good.

Probably won’t impact them at all, Google at least.
Part of their gimmick was that they could bounce around between TMobile, Sprint and US Cellular towers for coverage. Is this merger still going to make use of all towers both companies had? There were some spots here in NC where Sprint actually had better coverage.

Without the merger sprint would become a lowly regional carrier, so we would still be down to 3 nationwide carriers.

I would say either way, competition would still be only 2 very large carriers and 1 small carrier at that point, so not much better either way.

I don't disagree prices are higher than they should be in the USA, but if an American is paying over $100/month, they are doing something very wrong. I pay $170 a month for four unlimited, unthrottled lines on T-Mobile, for their highest tier of service.

Also, please keep in mind that running a telecom network in a nation with a land area nearly equal to the entirety of continental Europe is no small feat. Most European countries are geographically smaller than many U.S. States, with a much higher population density that is therefore easier to blanket with cell signals.

Shopped around, or accepted lesser service?

Verizon is the next best thing and they want $55 per line. That's $160 and I haven't accounted for taxes and other services.

You do realize I'm talking about the US right?

T-Mobile never had exclusive on the IPhone, AT&T was the one who did.

Thanks for that correction.

I'd have to say that T-Mobile has always been in the shadows then.

p.s. I added one phone to the line and it's $206 now.

Verizon user here - I'm on a shared family plan that is a grandfathered plan from a few year's back. There's 7 of us on the plan with only 6GB shared a month - we simply don't use hardly any data (typically only use 4GB-5GB in any given month; I would guess we've gone over 5 times in the last few years). The price is right at about $25 per line which includes taxes & fees (device payments of course on top of that).

As much as I hate AT&T for their politics, I have unlimited. I literally hit my throttling warning in one day watching the Impeachment trial, still not throttled.

I can't imagine only having at most 6gb per day.
Based on your signature, it looks like you need to update your apple wearables.

The comparisons between the USA and other countries don't make sense. There's a huge territorial difference as well as quality of connection - it's about delivering a fast, consistent connection nationwide.

Source: I've traveled internationally for a few months and have used international carriers. Network consistency and quality were variable.

Exactly. We would've been grandfathered in but our plans was older. With Sprint it was limited data (2GBs if I recall) but the plan would've been almost 12 years old by now. Our plan is about 5 years old, but since we had to add three new phones it shot the price up to $190 or so depending on taxes and usage.

And my mother in law is a data hog. She sucks down about 11GBs herself, then I come in at about 9 and the wife at about 3.

How so, sprint was the last one to get the iPhone, lol

Shadows as in quiet.

Not bad. I thought Europe would be more expensive due to the higher taxes and fees.
I'm on T-Mobile and I pay $99/month for 2 Phone lines with Unlimited Data with International Data and texting included, HD Streaming and 1 iPad Unlimited Data line. All lines allow for Mobile HotSpot. Price includes all taxes and fees.

Right on. $5+/gallon is crazy money.

Sounds like you're getting robbed. I have 9 phone lines, 2 LTE watch lines and 5 iphone xs device payments all for $280 via tmobile. $100 more covers 4 more lines and 5 device payments over just your 7 line fees.
