Where are you in the Northeast?

I frequent NH and Maine. TMo isn't even in the same league as Verizon or AT&T up there. Not even close.

I agree with you , just came back from Brenton Woods NH ski resort. T-mo had no service or USSC Edge on 93 highway and around the area, 0 coverage at the resort, just USSC E on the top. Thanks God I had Att hotspot in my car. I travel more abroad 10:1 ratio, that's why Tmobile is better for me , overwise I cannot recommend it to anybody without a try before.

Same story in Poconos area. Att is not the best there, but T-mobile is even worse..

I've been with AT&T for almost that amount of time, before it was even AT&T Wireless, I was with them when THEY were Cingular Wireless. I was actually with them in San Francisco as Pac Bell Wireless, and then was there when that became Cingular Wireless with the new name and logo. Hopefully you're just getting them confused. Verizon originated from I think Bell Atlantic and I know Vodafone.

yes sorry I got them confused.my point was I had Verizon even before it was called Verizon.i think it was nyex then turned to bell Atlantic then it turned to Verizon wireless.

I know remember the commercials NYNEX is now bell Atlantic and then a few years later bell Atlantic is now Verizon wireless.

That's just sugar coating it. Their big disclaimer right on their homepage mentions it:

Reduced speeds = throttling. Most people live near large cities, and I'd speculate most T-Mobile users live near large cities as their service elsewhere is shaky. So it seems reasonable to say that you'll be throttled.

You're not understanding it. The key word is deprioritized. The simple act of being deprioritized doesn't mean you will be slowed down or throttled. For example, I'm at around 60GB used this billing period, yet speed tests across the board are the same as if I had used 0 bytes. Obviously, that's not being throttled, but I'm still subject to being deprioritized where absolutely necessary. If you polled everyone who exceeded 28GB, I bet most don't see any speed reductions.

what phone are you using? I'm about to switch to TMobile and travel in that area.

does your phone support band 12 T-Mobile new 700mhz band?

this was tested in Windham NH the other day from my friend that just left Verizon for TMobile.

It's better but still not as good as Verizon's. Nowadays, instead of getting 3 bars of Edge network indoors, I get 1 bar of LTE. Even if LTE is much faster than Edge, one bar gets you nowhere. I'm really disappointed with band 12 so far. Verizon's band 13 seemed so much stronger.

Band 12 works great in NYC. And few times I had issues with service indoor I just turn on wifi calling. My girlfrind has verizon, the only place she has service I do not is the food hall in the basement of the Plaza Hotel.

A friend talked us into putting my wife on T-MOBILE and that was a huge mistake. She didn't have signal half the time. She hated me for a while because she had 0 coverage in our favorite vacation spot, Carrabelle, FL. We had to drive an hour north to get coverage. Even when she had a full signal the data was still slow.

Most recently I decided to switch from Verizon to AT&T. I didn't have signal many places and the data was much slower. I had made up my mind that I was switching back but when I woke up this morning and didn't have service due to some AutoPay snafu, I went to the first Verizon store I could find and switched back. While on the phone with the AT&T rep she asked me if she could go get a drink of water. I had to ask her again because I didn't think I had heard her right. One interesting thing I noticed in my 1 month on AT&T, I burned through data much faster. I went from a 3 GB plan on Verizon to an 8 GB plan on AT&T. On Verizon I typically didn't use all the 3 GB in a month but on AT&T I burned through the 8 GB before the month was up and I wasn't doing anything differently. I was using the same phone with the same settings. So… I'm back in my happy place with Verizon. It is the best without a doubt to me.

this was tested in Windham NH

The Windham / Salem area is blanketed in coverage by all the providers (the same as any city). Most everywhere southern NH works well on T-mobile but anywhere from the lakes region north is very spotty. Good luck keeping a consistent signal on RT 93 north of Concord (note: I found that ATT has better coverage than T-Mobile north of the lakes region but it still can be spotty. The best coverage is Verizon but you have to decide if it's worth the extra money).

did you ever try with a phone that supports T-Mobile 700mhz band? are you saying you can't make a phone call driving up 93 North?

I'm not sure about the 700 MHz band.

I got "no service" and lots of dropped calls. I ended up switching to ATT at the beginning of last year (I liked T Mobile but I needed it to work outside of southern NH).

T-Mobile used to have something called a test drive. If they do, you can try the phone you want when you plan on taking a trip up north on RT 93. I can only say what my experiences were but it's somewhat meaningless without you experiencing yourself the coverage where you want to use it.

Another good idea might be for you to take a road trip with your friend that just got the T-Mobile service.

I'm going to give them a chance.if you asked me last year I would of said he'll no but T-Mobile has really upped there game in my area where I spend 90% of my time.

there is a sign in a lady's yard here saying T-Mobile wants to put a tower here and the people of the town are fighting to not let them put it up.

the only issue with the test drive is I have a Verizon gs7 and it has band 12 locked out so I won't get the full potential of there network with my phone.

here is band 12 all brand new towers installed less than a year ago.

This is why I switch to t-mobile. I have four lines and between everyone we have used over 90GB of data. And I pay $40 per line. Can't get that anywhere else. And my service has be great in Tulsa Oklahoma.

iPhone 7+

Come to Maine, where TMobile doesn't own any B12 (USCC does.) Their network is junk outside of Portland.

Also, as you travel on 93 towards VT, T-Mobile is spotty at best.

No thanks, I'll stick with AT&T or Verizon.

Get the same coverage issues on the East coast too. Once we leave any population center (major city) Verizon is all that works.

LOL. I've got AT&T and live on the East Coast and no issues with reception. I had Verizon and find it's coverage was overstated.

Yeah get back to us when you breakdown on a rural or mountain road and your TM phone just laughs at you. we all make choices to what's important, in the same location Tmobile is 4 to 8meg down because of tower congestion, I choose better service for not much more money. Cool things... YAY :)

I'd love to switch to Verizon from T-Mobile if I could afford it but I get 4GB data (plus all the uncounted music streaming) for $20 per line (family plan with 8 lines). If Verizon could offer something similar for less than $30 a line I'd switch. Until then, it's not worth it. I don't travel much and when I do it's usually to major cities so coverage is great for me.

Rhode Island. But I go to Mass and NH regularly and get OK coverage, except maybe the lake region.

Entering Boston today from North on ramp from 93 South. I don't know how T-mobile was fastest during Patriots parade.

I recently switched from ATT to T mobile. I saw no difference in speeds, but a huuuuuuuuge difference in my bill. While I like the service T mobile provides, I will say that it is lacking heavily in the coverage. With ATT I got 2 bars of LTE out in the bayou, with T mobile, Im lucky if I get 1 bar of 4G. Even at home in the city, I only get 2 bars of LTE on T mobile, when I got 5 from ATT. Ive had more "no service" with T mobile in a few months more than ATT the past 8 years combined. The good side on T mobile is that when connected to wifi, I can still send regular SMS and calls out even when there are no T mobile towers nearby. The shame is that the wifi at work isnt great either...

Im giving it a bit more time before jumping over to sprints $60 unlimited basic plan.

Congrats T mobile on the speed improvement; now focus on expanding the coverage.

As a fellow New Orleans resident, whatever you do, DO NOT switch to Sprint. If you think T-Mobile's coverage is bad around here, wait until you get the joy of dropping calls IN the city. I made the mistake of switching to them to save a few bucks and dumped them and switched back as soon as I could.

Plus, T-Mobile will probably get my loyalty for a while longer as they were the only carrier in my experience that kept anything working in the days after Katrina.
