Bought contract-free T-Mobile online and works fine on Verizon.

Really? That's great to hear.

I had been concerned that the T-Mobile 6s (I realize it's the same model for Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint) would not be whitelisted for Verizon. I am on Selectel, a prepaid MVNO that uses Verizon towers and requires the phones to be whitelisted by Verizon.

Nah you'll be fine, all full priced are completely unlocked.

But if I'm reading this correctly, the T-Mobile iPhone (1688) will not support LTE at all on AT&T's network.

Sorry but you are reading the Apple information wrong.

Note: The T-Mobile Models: A1688/87 support the following LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29). Notice only LTE Band 30 is not supported by that model pair. Band 30 is currently only supported by AT&T.
