Unfortunately the upgrade program doesn't seem to be available when you have a T-Mobile ONE Business plan. Once I enter my account details in the Apple Store app/website it says my T-Mobile plan type is not eligible for the iPhone Upgrade Program

Wait, that image says $49.91 for 24 months, which is $1197.84.

Why wouldn't you just buy the phone for a flat $999 instead of paying an additional $198.84 you don't need to?

Edit: Ah, Applecare. Nevermind.

Does Apple still force you to get Applecare + I would love to do the upgrade program but have no interest in Applecare. This is a sneaky way of Apple to force people to buy that rip off.
Allow me to disagree, it is not a rip off. If you have never used their service then I understand your feelings. Without Apple Care+ when your phone goes south, and you do not have coverage then you must come up with the full monty. Also, there have been times I had a need for calling Apple Care, having the Apple Care+ guaranteed me phone support. Same as with any type of insurance purchase, we hope we never need it, then when needed we are glad we have it. No, it is not a rip off.

I bought in IPX through T-Moible's upgrade program (JUMP!)I thought it was actually better than Apple's (though there was a higher downpayment) What was better is the if you lost or your iPhone was stolen there was $100 deductible ad $0 for repairs and accidental damage including drops and water.

With T-Mobile, you at least get WiFi Calling. My office is a dead zone for cell signal - an old concrete building with enough reinforcement to block everything. Two of us are on T-Mobile, the other two are on Verizon. I just hop on the WiFi and have plenty of coverage.

I’m not worried about it really when I’m indoors. You pretty much always have access to Wi-Fi. I’m mostly worried about it when I travel.

Your getting an unlocked iPhone and AppleCare+ included the payments. With the T-Mobile plan your neither, however you can still purchase AppleCare+ from Apple separately.

If you use T-Mobile JUMP and pay monthly for JUMP you have AppleCare+ included. I’m paying $12 per month in addition to my plan and $5.42 lease for my iPhone X.

I have an iPhone from Apple store that is on the upgrade program and am on tmobile....

How is this news you could do this before the announcement. Not sure if they just put a unlocked phone at Apple but I had a 7s then a X. Soon a X plus or a 11 plus. Whatever they decide to name the new phone

This is big news because now T-Mobile customers don’t have to go to the Apple store to do the initial sign up for the Apple Upgrade Program. I guess they listened to my complaints about this. Now we can just do it online and pre order the newest phone.

Do you have your credit locked with one or more or the 3 credit bureaus? That would do it. It would be hit or miss if you only have it locked at one bureau and not the other two, so it would depend on which bureau Apple uses. Just taking a stab at it, no worries.

Yeah, that would make sense but I double-checked that. It's just frustrating because my FICO stands at 813 today and they won't give me any info about the denial at all.

Thanks for your stab, I'll keep trying!

But you have to pay off the old one first and you have to meet someone shady on craigslist.

Craigslist, ew! This is what Swappa is for, where I've only had great experiences.

Yes, you're still required to get it. Sure insurance is a ripoff...til you need it.

It is indeed a ripoff when you're required to pay for the AC+ to be in the program. It would still be a ripoff for my situation when you consider that my family has been through more than 20 iPhones without ever having a claim of any kind. That's about $2500 I've 'saved' now, so we could all break our phones tomorrow and still be further ahead to just pay cash for new ones tomorrow.
[doublepost=1535137188][/doublepost]
I mean it is basically free. They just split the cost of the phone over 24 months and include apple care +

No, it's not free, or even discounted. Phone price + AC price divided by 24 months = your monthly payment.

This is for the current X. You're bound to be over $70 a month for the X Plus. My bill now is less than $100 with the $3x.00 I pay for this Android and my service, together. Ooof!!!

Don't all the post paid carriers include wifi calling at this point? I know VZW does.

I think that's an oversimplification. You can't ignore that AC costs (for an X) $199, and there's a $29-99 deductible if you need to use it. Here's my problem with it, based on owning an iPhone X:

1) If you lose your phone, there's no coverage. Not only did you just waste $199, it'll cost you $700 to get a used replacement phone.
2) If you break your phone with AC, it essentially cost you $228-298 to get it fixed/replaced--it's not 'free'.
3) But--even broken iPhone Xs sell for hundreds of dollars on the secondary market--check out the 'for parts only' listings on eBay where people are paying $3-500 for broken iPhone Xs.

It just doesn't pencil out to spend $200 on insurance on a device that can be replaced for $700, especially when the used/broken version of that device sells for about $2-300 less than a functional one sells for. It seems to me that the only people that AC is good for are those that cannot front the money for a replacement phone if they break their current phone--in which case I question whether you should have spent that much on a phone to begin with.

Here's what you do if you break your phone, without AC: charge a replacement phone to a credit card and get it immediately. Repair/sell the old phone, put that money towards your credit card bill and eat the small difference, which will be less than the cost of AC. If you don't ever break your phone, you just saved the entire cost of the AC.

AC is basically gambling that you WILL damage your phone, and offers you nothing if you DON'T damage your phone (I never have). Nobody with any financial sense will tell you that it makes sense to pay $2-300 insurance on a device that can be replaced for $700-900.

I always bought AppleCare+ just to be on the safe side. Last year, T-Mobile included AppleCare+ with your JUMP! payment which I like better because now my AppleCare+ covers damage and if it’s stolen (when I place a claim through T-Mobile).

I’ve never used jump or jump on demand and thinking about utilizing for the up coming phone. Can you explain the diff? Pros? Cons?

So, if I got the X on launch day through T-Mobile, what are my day one options for the new X Plus (or whatever it's going to be called)?

Did you sign up for one of the jump programs?
If so you’re half paid. Trade in, pay down payment and reset program

The problem with T-Mobile jump program is if you buy the higher GB iPhones then they require a down payment. If you’re a person that gets a new phone yearly then you would have paid more than 1 years worth of $ due to the down payment. With Apple Upgrade you would have paid exactly 1 years worth of $. I guess the only thing good about the Jump is that T-Mobile includes theft I believe but it may be an additional cost.

Yes the higher GB you would have to put money down where as the base GB you won’t except maybe taxes I believe. I pay $12 monthly for JUMP and my AppleCare+ that do include damage as well as theft. I have the 256GB so I had to put money down, which I don’t mind because I always end up paying my device off and keeping it as a backup or to hand down to my daughter. Plus T-Mobile had a promo last year that give me a $12.50/month credit for my device so I only pay $5.42 for my device and have $250.80 left to pay my X off to keep it.

In your case it’s a good deal. However as I stated before it’s not a great deal for annual upgrade.

Can anyone answer my question? My wife and I joined T-Mobile back in March. We both financed the ipx. Last month I got a bonus from work and paid mine off to reduce our monthly payment. I’d like to upgrade to the xplus when it comes out. Do I need to sale my phone outright or will I be able to upgrade and just pay price difference?

Since your phone is paid off, you can keep it or sell it and use that money to put towards the X+ and if you finance the new one you should have a cheaper bill if you put more down. That’s what I did and my device payments come out to $5.42 after the $12.50 credit T-Mobile apply every month.

I can pretty much guarantee you that selling it outright will net you quite a bit more $$ then trading it in.

So a question for you guys. I currently have ATT, but want to switch to T-Mobile when the new phones come out. I have the upgrade program and should be completely done paying for my 7+ in December. What's the best way to jump ship? Go to the store and try and transfer it over to T-Mobile? Just sign up for Tmobile's Jump thing? Perhaps just buy the new phone and sell my old one?

With the Apple upgrade program your phone is unlocked so you can switch to T-Mobile whenever you like. Unlike Jump your phone is locked. You can just pay off your phone if you like and sell it and start over again with the Apple upgrade program again. One thing to be on the look out for is T-Mobile sometimes runs all kinds of specials during new phone launches that could benefit you.

I switched from ATT to T-Mobile and have not been happier. Best move ever.
