- They got rid of everyone's grandfathered plans

- They increased the prices of their unlimited plans

- They made JUMP! a ripoff by changing the terms

- They're dumping all the corporate discounts. Everyone will loose theirs after 4/25

Remind me again how I'm hating? Maybe I'm just not delusional enough to eat up TMo's marketing spin BS on this.

what do u mean by they got rid of everyones GF plans?? once tmobile raise the plans from 20-30 for the data package they sent me info stating my plan would remain the same & it has..or am i confused about your post

That's why I won't leave big red, 17% corporate discount goes a long way.

True dat. My dad gets 25% off our share everything plan.

But I read this because my bf has a discount on his tmo plan that he brought over from AT&T. One line with unlimited data and some international extras and the fee for his iPhone 5 (no Jump). I told him about this, and he's pretty upset. He switched because his bill was supposed to be less. Now it may end up being almost the same as what it was.

I just think it's ironic that T-Mobile's whole marketing premise is about how much money they can save you, but they've been slowly increasing prices and changing terms to make more money.

What a bunch of snakes.

What do you think an upgrade from EDGE to LTE requires?

- First of all, T-Mobile changed their JUMP terms to allow anyone to upgrade anytime, as long as they pay off 1/2 of their device. T-Mobile allowed people with the old JUMP to stay on.

- Their unlimited data plan is now $80, but includes 5 GB mobile hotspot and also supplements their massive network upgrade.

- Their Simple Choice plans are a better value than the previous plans.

- Now yes, I agree corporate discounts are good, but T-Mobile is already in-expensive as it is.

I'm going to have to agree with you on this one. I recently switched to T-Mobile since my workplace JUST negotiated a 15% discount.

Now that T-Mo wants to ditch the corporate discounts sticking with T-Mo is only an $11 savings per month over ATT for me and my setup.

Needless to say not please with all the changes they are making, and making so quickly. Maybe they should rebrand their uncarrier initiative to recarrier.

I may very well just go back to ATT where I had better coverage since it's now only $11 more and my 17% discount would still apply.

Not cool T-Mobile. Not cool.

T-Mobile discontinuing corp discounts for everyone

I am pretty pissed about this. After being with AT&T for over 6 years, I just switched to T-Mobile on March 12th. When I asked about the 15% corporate discount, which many of my co-workers have been enjoying for some time, they looked it up at the store and confirmed it and scanned my ID and applied it to my account. They said it should show up by my 2nd bill.

Well, looks like that's never even going to happen for me! I transferred 5 lines (4 with ETF's to take advantage of their promo) and 15% would save me $21 off my monthly bill. Comparing to what I was paying with AT&T (which gave my company a 24% discount, albeit a more expensive overall plan), switching over to T-Mobile will now cost me slightly more per month! That 15% discount absolutely made a difference...they can keep their crappy $25 upgrade card. Especially now that I have to buy un-subsidized phones.

Maybe my timing for the switch was just coincidentally terrible, but they HAD to know that this change was right around the corner. I feel like I've been totally had by T-Mobile...not a great start to using them (maybe it will be very short lived).

Exactly how I feel. I just came to T-Mobile from AT&T and with the prices going up it's going to be very close to what I was spending a month. Granted under AT&T I only got 5GB of data versus truly unlimited. If I go for the new unlimited which adds the 5GB tethering instead of the $70 old unlimited plan my bill will actually be more expensive than AT&T. All this is because I bought my device flat out. I would have to do the math but buying a 32GB iPhone with putting $300 down and financing the rest would probably be more expensive than AT&T. I might have to jump back. Not very uncarrier moves if you ask me.

I figured this would happen. With text and talk at an all time low, carriers are making money off of data. The 25% off I get on data plan only at Sprint is not worth it. With the discount or not, I am planning on leaving Sprint once the iPhone 6 is released, because I can get a plan cheaper elsewhere even with this lousy discount, as I don't need their slow data speeds.

That $25 T-Mobile os offering is hogwash. Nothing is free!

Hi guys, I just talked to a rep and he told me since my dad is a retired military, I will be eligible to receive his discount. If you have someone thats in the military or was, just call customer service and ask them to add him/her as an authorize user to your account. You will need the persons military ID

I understand a business is just that, a business, and they have to make money!!!

BUT

To blunt the POSITIVE momentum T-Mobile has gathered up lately makes no sense. So right after paying ETF's they announce this!? Should've waited a little bit or rethought it entirely.

Definitely going to be interesting to see how this plays out...

I do wonder how Legere will spin this. There's really nothing positive to gather from it. I hear there is an Uncarrier 5.0 coming so we will see what he does.

Im hoping he wipes out taxes/fees like Aio. He kills that vagueness that hikes the bills, then customers will end up close to breaking even. And less confusion.

That looks like a gigantic back pedal to appease their current customers. Its the right move and I'm glad they decided to grandfather existing customers.

It only makes sense. They should have announced that in the first place instead of announcing that all customers, existing and new, won't receive a discount any more.

I'm wondering whether or not when I switch back to a postpaid plan with them (currently on prepaid) when the M8 comes out I can get my discount back. Or if my postpaid account number still exists? A few months ago it was still in their system.

If not then, oh well.

That's the thing, I think their plan all along was to move everyone who's on a corporate discount, only after seeing the push back by existing customers did they change their tune.

Regardless of how it came about, it is good news for existing customers. Those are the ones that stuck by T-MO before they went with the uncarrier and should not have been punished with higher prices.

Glad current T-Mobile customers get to keep their discounts. Was worried AT&T would make a similar move.

I wouldn't be surprised however if AT&T and Verizon eventually do this with new customers one day and grandfather in their existing discounts. Would make people less eager to switch carriers knowing they'd lose their discount.

I don't think we have to worry about AT&T doing this. At least, not as long a Verizon doesn't. Both of them pursue large corporate and government contracts, and one way they secure those contracts is with the discounts. AT&T would have a big disadvantage if they got rid of discounts and Verizon didn't. Meanwhile, T-Mobile doesn't have a lot of these sorts of contracts, so they're not really giving up much by no longer going after them.

I think a good analogy is when Apple gave up on the XServe. Apple had been pursuing a particular market, but wasn't really making any headway. Same thing just happened with T-Mobile and corporate/government accounts.

I love how they try to put a positive spin on all this. Oh, the BIG carriers are using employees as pawns to close big contracts, but WE won't do that! Because giving people discounts is sooooo unfair to them!

Uhh, no. No one is buying that tripe. Your prices are being raised on people who were previously being given discounts, plain and simple. And sorry, but T-Mobile's network is still no prize. Most people getting those corporate discounts also travel, and need reliable service.

This "Uncarrier" stately is beginning to look less like a pro-consumer thing and more and more like plain arrogance.

You aren't entitled to a discount.

“Everyone enrolled in the Advantage Program or who applied to enroll before April 1st will be able to keep a rate plan discount as long as they work at a participating employer and remain on a qualifying plan. All of our Simple Choice plans currently qualify. We will be asking that customers participate in a simple annual online employer verification. That’s it.”

looks like it is good news for the current customers. HOWEVER, the last sentence requires that current customers do a employer verification.

lol this will sure knock out about 20-40% of the current customers.
