I currently have an iPhone 3G (firmware 3.0.1), and it is jailbroken with redsn0w and unlocked with ultrasn0w. I have a T-Mobile Prepaid SIM card in the phone, and it has the sidekick plan on it, which includes unlimited texting, email , MMS, and web. I used to be able to use texting and the web in everything. Now, the texting still works, and I can still get e-mail over EDGE, but I can't browse the web in Safari, or use any application that requires and internet connection. I suspect this has something to do with the APN. Right now the APN I have is

hiptop.t-mobile.com

I have also tried all conbinations for the following APNs, Usernames, and Passwords.

hiptop.t-mobile.com
epc.t-mobile.com
wap.voicestream.com

By the way, how do I enable MMS messaging? It's in the plan but I don't have the APN info and the picture icon doesn't appear in messages.

A lot of iPhone Sidekick Prepaid users are reporting that they cannot connect right now. I don't know the solution yet, but you could try calling t-mobile.

Thanks a lot. I followed your advice and contacted T-mobile. They said that there was a reported outage in my area, and that once the problem was resolved they would credit my account with the days I was unable to get internet access! SWEET :apple:

Can't wait till internet comes back. EDGE faster than 3G. No att crap

I hope that your T-Mobile Tech Support was right. I just called them up and mine was saying how the iPhone is officially unsupported and tried to sell me the FlexPay/Plan to get connected. :S

I have been on chat support with T-Mobile, and they said that they were blocking data because the "iPhone wasn't compatible". It seems to me like this is too widespread to be an outage. On another forum I have heard reports of outages from California to New York.

On Sidekick plans only, or in general? They've previously been very supportive of use, at least by postpaid, users on Blackberry or Smartphone plans.

FWIW my data works right now in FL. I'm on, erm... I'm on internet2.voicestream.com right now. But again, not sure if you're talking purely about prepaid Sidekick plan users or all Sidekick plan users (it's too bad that the $1/day unlimited is officially only a Sidekick plan, as it would apply to a lot of other devices also)...

I was talking about prepaid sidekick. What plan are you on?

It's not prepaid or Sidekick, so sorry, never mind / that's why I was asking. I'm on the Total Internet or w/e it's called postpaid package that's $19.99 monthly for data services and wifi hotspots.

I think that T-mobile's policy had always been that Sidekick plans are for Sidekicks, but then my impression was that in the past, people's experiences were variable, with some people seeming to be able to use the Sidekick plans for other devices and some not getting anywhere with it. But honestly if this is Sidekick specific I don't know too much, having never used a Sidekick plan.

Hope you get a satisfactory resolution. :)

Can you get that added to prepaid or do you need a flexpay/postpaid plan to go with it?

Actually, it is. The outage is all across the country

I did some googling and found out that these outages have happened several times before.

Why won't those danger people do something about it?  :apple:

If it truly is an outage, don't expect it to be fixed until monday.

Does anyone else's phone say they're not subscribed to data?

iPhone prepaid sidekick users screwed!!!

So I've been on a prepaid sidekick plan ($1 a day + $.15) and it's worked beautifully on my iPhone. I used the correct settings and having unlimited EDGE has been truly awesome. I used this plan for about a week and then last night, all of a sudden, my edge stopped working.

I ran through some threads here trying to troubleshoot this, but to no avail. I called tmobile and the tech said he just got a memo that all non-sidekick prepaid users would no longer be able to use EDGE. Crap, this sucks.

Can anybody confirm this or PLEASE! tell me this tech was wrong?

Call again and talk to a different tech

given the fact that you don't have the edge network AND support stated that's not available for nonsidekick users pretty much confirms it

I still don't get it. It's worked fine for almost 2 weeks. Was there a change of policy? I didn't hear anything. Is there a way to get around this and still get EDGE. I'm kind of pissed because I just loaded a $25 refill.

Think I should threaten to go back to AT&T? Cell phone companies usually are pretty helpful if you pull that card.
