Really? You have to be on the T-Mobile ONE to take advantage of that?

Whew! Thanks for making feel better.

Yes.

Even more interesting is the fact that more than one rep has told me they are expecting it to be discontinued before stores have stock and I better order and wait until mid October for delivery.

I'm not remotely interested in getting into a conversation about what is coming next year, how lame or great this model is, how yellow the screen is, and how stupid I am for not realizing how much CPU, ram, camera ability and all that is.

I was ready to continue my 2 year upgrade cycle.

I'm probably lazy, but the whole mail in your old phone, once they receive it, you should see credits in 2-3 months, etc made it so I was only doing this if I could swap out in store.

It was up in the air at first, but yes this is what I heard as well.

There is always a catch. They want people on the new "limited" unlimited plans and off older plans.

Correct. I did NOT change my plan to Tmo ONE.

Oops, I see others saying the same. Enjoy the 7 everyone! I got mine on Friday at 10am.

I believe it became a requirement after the 15th, but before then you didn't have to be.

I have learned that I get better service from the folks on twitter and when I speak to the North American English speaking reps. I'm fine with that so far. I am getting a way better value than what I had before . You guys are spoiled
Its so bad that I hope I get someone answering the phone from America, and if I don't, I just hang up and keep calling back until I do. (No offense, but everytime I have had to deal with someone from the overseas call centers they screw everything up or cannot do what I need done.) Ex: Saturday night I needed to set up my girlfriends iPhone 7 I got her. I just wanted to activate the SIM, something you would think would be easy to do (and something I do not remember ever having to do on AT&T). I used to be able to do it for T-Mobile on the internet, but they took away that option. The first time I call, I get right through. The woman on the phone is overseas, and I can barely understand her. She says I need to be sent a PIN by text, and it must go to the main number on the account, which is not my number. I find my mothers phone, but we never get the PIN. The woman said we couldn't do it without the PIN, and said I would have to call back when I receive it, up to 3 days. I am livid, and I call back immediately, only to be on hold for 20 minutes this time. I got lucky and got through to a cute sounding young woman out west. She said the same thing at first, but said she was sending the PIN to my phone this time without me even mentioning that the previous person saying it had to be sent to the main number. I never got it again, and she did the activation with no problem with out it. After that we chatted about the new phone, then she said goodbye so hot I forgot that I was on the phone with T-Mobile and that I was pissed.

For the people saying you have to send your phone in to be inspected, that is not entirely true, I was told when my new 7 arrived to bring my old one to the store and they would inspect it in the store and apply the credits right away. (or start too)

Don't you know that when something requires you to switch to another plan in order to be eligible for the dangling carrot...chances are, there's a catch?

The deal is actually pretty sweet when it comes to the right person. For example : me. I have 2 lines on the old truly unlimited plan but I'll add 2 more lines soon. For 4 plans, the Tmo one would be a better choice even though I'll say goodbye to HD streaming. An iPhone 6 for an iPhone 7 is a great deal

UPDATE

I probably shouldn't post this, but have found

I agree and have been in a long conversation with a rep after tweeting John Legere

Update to whoever may care:

I was fuming about this deal and felt like many of us were baited and switched.

Initially they tried to say how great of a deal the Jump and T-Mobile One plans were, at which I replied how much I disagreed.

A bit of a Twitter rant on Legere had a rep called me and worked out a deal that was far better than I had hoped for.

Out of respect for their hard work and my restored faith, I won't elaborate on the details other than to say I have a black iphone 7 on the way and am very happy

Well, I have 10 lines with TMobile with the 10GB plus data stash as well. I found out last Friday night, 9/9, about the trade in deal. I noticed the Jet Blacks were all backordered and most of the Pluses were too, so I planned to send two of my family members to different TMobile stores on Friday with the hopes that we each could get 3 of any of the Plus models. I spent roughly two hours digging through all my old phones to find an iPhone 5, a 5C, a 5S, and 3 iPhone 6es to trade in for 6 of the phones. I was surprised there was no line when I pulled up about 8:30 and quickly learned they didn't even have a regular 7 in stock at any of the stores we went to.

I decided to go home and just preorder them online when I learned the deal required a switchover to T-Mobile One. At first, I was upset I would have to pay $60 more per month for my 10 lines, so the free phones would have been a detriment after about 5 years(assuming a street value of $300 for a working 6). Then I found out not only is it more money, but you lose your HD streaming and get hotspot throttled to 512kbps unless you add an HD pass for $3/day or hotspotting for $25/month(not sure if this is a daily feature). I bet next year's promo will be even better where you pay even more money but get faster throttled hotspots and 720p instead of 480p streaming.

I called up to express my disappointment and my full on intention to switch my 10 lines to Sprint and cut my bill in half to a little over $100/month till May 2018 and take advantage of the Sprint promo(which required at least an iPhone 6(no $400 credit for a 5). I thought about it more and figured I was losing about $6000($3500 for the 10 tradeins and $2500 savings over 2 years), but I didn't want the restrictions of Sprint when I've been so happy with T-Mobile.

Another option would have been to switch to Sprint, buy 10 phones on 2-year contract, switch back to T-Mobile One, trade in the 10 phone 6es, get TMobile to issue me a prepaid VISA card for $3500 for the ETFs, and sell the Sprint iPhone 7s, but I figured I would just work an extra 100 hours this month to make up for the $5000 loss from this ordeal. At least I'm used to the stress of work even though it's not any more pleasant than all the phone calls to tech support to make sure my trade-ins were approved and credits were being issued.

I really think this whole deal will cost Tmo more than what the "free upgrade" would have if they extended the deal long enough to deliver product and not require an estimated 6 week wait for online ordering.

The whole conspiracy theory about the shortage being created to increase demand is something I'm not fully buying, but I do know that Legere and his Magneta Minions have been talking to a lot of unhappy customers, and that isn't something any business wants.

The supply problem isn't Tmo's fault, and I'm sure they'd prefer to be selling phones to walk ins.

The CEO putting out a deal that put many of those on the fence in the market to upgrade, then changing the deal to now require a plan change is unacceptable.

I'm keeping my plan that I like, getting an upgrade for what I feel turned out better than a 24 month commitment, but have a headache from the hissy fit I had to throw.

That's part of life. You can't expect something worth a few hundreds dollars for little effort. T-Mobile has been offering us great bonuses in the last couple years. I think they made a mistake in the inital promo and realized too many people weren't switching to the new One plan that were on Simple Choice. I just wish I had predicted the amendment to the promo like a businessman in time to take advantage of it rather than a crazed customer.

I switched to TMo last night when I ordered my iPhone 7+. I am a single person, so if you compare the *1* person rate for AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile; then with the unlimited data, unlimited mexico (when I go to Cabo and Cancun) then it's actually cheaper at the $70/mo. The others like ATT with Mobile Share Value is $80 + $20 per phone. And the stats arent even as good for the plan.

I understand when you have multiple lines how this may not be the best choice. I gotcha.

Say what you guys want, I love Legere.

I pay $30 per line for 10GB each line. For no reason, they recently upgraded our lines to unlimited (HD video included) until March 2019! This wasn't a month or two upgrade, it's almost three years of unlimited data! Each line now has 10GB of data per month to use for tethering. To top it off, I'm getting free wings at Buffalo Wild Wings tomorrow night and a free movie rental on Vudo. Again, $30!

I love me some T-Mobile. No problems with coverage.

Exactly!!!

Well, I went to a T-mobile store to turn in my old phone. They said (stupid me, was the implication) that you can only return in the store if you bought in the store. If you bought online, you have to mail it back.

I preordered on 09/16/2016 at 03:38 AM

Somehow I got lucky cause I didn't have to switch over to Tmo new "One Plan"
and got the iP7+ 128gb for $220 as advertised... along with taxes and a few minor annoyances. I had to pay more than $220 up front but it is all credited to my bill...

Correct, I guess I could have been a bit more clear in my message

I have been very happy with Tmo, and was with ATT since they took over Cingular, which shows my age.

Initially, the coverage was not nearly as good as ATT, but that has changed.

We have 7 lines and have been adding more.

The issue I had was due to what I perceive as a bait and switch on the free phone deal.

The way they handled my unhappiness makes me a happy customer again.
