I am currently on the grand fathered simple choice $20 unlimited plan. I called tmobile customer support to verify if I was eligible for the current promotion and they assured me I was. I was able to get my new iPhone 7 at the tmobile store but for some reason, the monthly payments on all the documents stated the normal amount (no mention of the billing credits). I traded in an iPhone 6 and I was also given a trade-in value of the iPhone, which went towards the tax of the iPhone 7 and still have a credit balance that will be applied to my monthly bill. Normally, I would wait it out a month and see if the credits are being applied but they are saying it will take 2-3 months for that to happen; I don't want to find out after 3 months that I won't be getting any credits. Anyone have similar experience regarding this promotion?

You will see the payment amount and credits coming in.
If you log in to your tmobile account go to billing/Equipment installment plan:

Your EIP balance: $1021.62
You can pay off the plan at any time, or make extra payments and reduce the number of payments left.

Click view details.
Then it will show you details about the EIP and credit amount and for how long.

Are you suppose to see this right away or after the 2-3 months they ask for before applying the billing credits? I got my phone on friday and still haven't found anything pertaining to the bill credits on my account. It only shows the total amount I owe.

I asked about this promotion too and I was told I had to signup for T-mobile 1.

From the T-Mobile website:

BLACK FRIDAY WEEKEND DEAL
iPHONE 7 FOR $0

Get T-Mobile ONE™, trade in a select smartphone, and get iPhone 7 for $0 down and $0 per month after monthly bill credits. If you cancel wireless service, credits stop and full device balance is due.

When did you trade it in?

Are you already a tmobile customer? If so, which plan do you have? The tmobile one requirement is only for new customers.

You should be able to see it when your next bill comes out.
You will not be able to view it right now until the billing cycle renews.

Yes. I called 3 local store and they all said I have to change plans.

That kinda sucks.
Im not a big fan of that new Tmobile one plan.
Im keeping my simple choice family.

Try calling customer care. They usually are better informed on the plans.

OP please post back if you get an update. I'm in a similar situation where I got the iPhone 7 (on my T-Mobile one plan) but I don't see the credits anywhere online or on any of the documents I got in the store. Only "trade in credit" I see is the 185 value they assessed for the 6s that I traded in and most of that went to the new iPhone 7 tax and some accessories I got for it

T-Mobile is terrible when it comes to clarity. Nothing you sign indicates anything about credits. At least it never had for me (and my credits eventually work).

I decided to go from the promo this weekend as well bland theycwsnted to put me in the one plan. Didn't want to do that since it would raise my bill $20 a month. St that rate I may as well keep the bill in happy with.

They were also running a promo last weekend where the T-Mobile one plan would be $120 for four lines (what we paid now). They claimed that was new customers only. I don't really buy that but I didn't fight it. A few months back I got s text that I was promotionally given unlimited data for the next 2+ years anyway.

The bottom line is T-Mobile throws in so many deals and gimmicks (yeah ledger claims no gimmicks lol) that I don't feel their employees have any time to get caught up on the flavor of the week. I often feel I know more than any given employee about a plan and just don't have the time or the will to fight it right now.

Well said above.
It seems like they throw some decent deals but they're not ready for them, employees are not trained and they dont have the processes in place for a smooth transition and verified transaction. So in the end the customer feels like what the hell is really going on? Am I really going to get that deal or will I have to chase them after :D
Luckily for me the promo they had on the iphone 7 release day to upgrade for free to an iphone 7 went ok.
Besides the fact that the local Tmobile store wouldn't take our phones in and I had to chase them around for boxes and bubble wrap and packing material to send in our old iphone 6 devices in order to get credit for them :D

So I called T-Mobile and spoke to an account specialist. Apparently if you used your trade in value to pay off the new iPhone 7 tax or purchase accessories, then that part will not be included in the promotion and you'll have to pay it over the course of 2 years.

For example, I upgraded to the "free" iPhone 7 and used my 180$ trade in value of the 6s I turned in to pay off the tax on my new iPhone 7 and also to pay for some accessories. Since I used up all $180 of my trade in, that money won't get applied to the free iPhone 7. I'll still get the free iPhone 7 but I'll have to pay $180/24 every month which comes out to $7.5

Obviously if you used that $180 a certain way you will not get that for free and another $650 for bill credits. Others used it towards their next months cellphone bill or pay for tax and accessories or roll it into the EIP program.
Either way you're getting the full $650, if you decide to spend the $180 of it a certain way then the remaining $470 will be split up over 24 bill credits.
Makes sense right?

Makes complete sense!

I don't mind the fact that I used the $180 for accessories. I was upset with T-Mobile because this morning when I called them, they told me that I wouldn't get the $650 at all because I didn't do the trade in "correctly". I went back and forth with the rep saying that I didn't know the details of the offer because they weren't available on the website and the rep at the T-Mobile store I got the 7 from assured me multiple times that I could get the accessories and the $650. It was a frustrating situation that arose because T-Mobile employees weren't well informed and I felt like I got bait and switched by porting my line in to T-Mobile from Verizon due to the offer, and then later being told I didn't qualify for the offer because I "used up" the whole promotion by buying two cases and a screen protector.

Rest assured, I got my phone call escalated and was told that I would still get the $650 minus the 180 I used up in store. I'm perfectly happy with that because it's fair game :)

Yes, that seems to be a repeat problem with Tmobile not properly training their staff and not having the process to verify and reiterate the promo, how exactly it will work, how much, when and how.
But either way I would be very curious if the rep told me I will get the full $650 in bill credits and another $180 on top of that to do whatever I want with :)
Glad you got it sorted out, its frustrating dealing with company reps and trying to explain them their own promos and policies :D

I'm bringing this thread back instead of starting a new one. I'm wondering if anybody who did the Tmobile iphone 7 program has successfully gotten the monthly credits yet? I traded in 2 iphone 6+'s in september and before I sent them back I reinstall IOS on both to make sure they were completely wiped clean.

As you all know, Itunes tells you to turn off "find my phone" before it lets you reinstall IOS, right? I got a call yesterday from Tmobile telling me I didn't turn off "find.." and that they will not be giving me the monthly credits. They have no proof of this and when I sign into icloud it only shows my current iphone, same with my wife's account.

Further research show's me 7 other threads on tmo's customer support forum describing the same issue, seems this is more than an isolated issue. The last time I upgraded with Tmobile I wasn't given a credit for sending in my old phone because they couldn't locate it. I finally found a picture Tmo had earlier sent me showing the phone was received, if I didn't have that picture I wouldn't have gotten the credit for the return.

Needless to say I'm incredibly annoyed and angry with them. I was on the phone for 2 hours yesterday and was told several conflicting statements by the 7 different people I was talking with. Still no final resolution, the last person told me they would fix it but I've been told that by multiple people for the past 2 months so I'm not holding my breath.

That sucks man.
I was lucky to have both my iphone 6 plus received and credit given within a week.
I heard others having similar bad experiences like yours though. I'd try to get in touch with higher up corporate tech support or even the CEO's office.
And file a BBB report and complain also. That will be reviewed and corporate will respond to your case within days.
Hope they take care of you.

Thanks, I did file a BBB and also an FTC complaint. There are a lot of things that don't make sense with this, I was given a $195 credit for each phone and was also supposed to get an approx. $30/month credit for 24 months. One of the reps I talked with told me point blank that if I was given the initial $195 that means the phones were fine, if "find.." had been on he said Tmo wouldn't have given me that initial credit.

I'm seriously considering verizon right now...

I had some of the same issues with Verizon. They're not any better. When I was doing my promo with them for the iPhone 7 I had to make so many phone calls and it took almost 4 months before I was finally able to get the promo added to my account despite me doing everything I should've done correctly.

I think you had an isolated bad experience with T-Mobile because generally I've found T-Mobile to have superior service to Verizon. Verizon is so evil....They only have their better network going for them

We did the free iPhone program thru T-Mobile on the simple choice plan (after a few days it was only allowed for T-Mobile One, but initially that wasn't the case). After a few months of nervousness, the system credited us with 4 months of credits this billing month. Pay $27 a month for 20 months, receive $20 credit for 24 (approx). It's structured a bit funny but it all adds up.

Ok that makes sense now.
Similar thing happened to me but not exactly.
If they gave you the initial $195 credit for the phone then you are good. The rest of the credits will go into your monthly plan over 2 years split up. $650 minus the $195 they gave you is $455. So about $18.95 per month bill credits should be applied over 24 months. Not $30 credit per month that you mentioned.
I think you might be confused on how this promo works and also they dont make it easy when they display in their system that the phone received was icloud locked.
I had 2 devices send in. So I send in both my 6 plus models inside the same shipping box. I had 2 return shipping labels so I used one of them instead. They received both, gave me credit for both EIP's but on their system it displayed that the other label that was never used to ship the other phone the same thing as you. That the device was damaged or icloud locked. But in really that wasnt the case, it was just a placeholder and that notice was later dropped and removed from their system.

Nope, no confusion. I know the credits should show up each month and a tmobile rep. called ME to tell me that I would not be getting the credits each month because find my iphone was turned on. I was just guessing on the $30 per month, you're probably right that it's about $18 or $19. Either way, I was told I would NOT be getting those monthly credits.

That's very weird.
So they gave you the $195 for the phone but will not be giving you the rest via bill credits?
That doesn't make sense. I hope you get it straightened out.
